Well, gastro dr. said nothing can be done with the liver but a transplant. He's really pushing for it, but I'm on the fence. January he will send me to the hospital that does them so that gives me time to think and research.

If it helps, liver transplants are quite successful overall. Learn as much as you can and make the decision you feel is right for you.

I'm so glad it's not cancer! Hopefully your research will leave you at peace that a liver transplant is the best route (especially if it is the only route they have!) and that things will go well afterward. I'm also glad that your daughter is trying to keep you well stocked with food It sucks when our bodies turn against us though. I've had more than one part cut out because it wanted to be a little bitch... I hope you are recovering well and that things only improve.

suesinfl - Hope you are getting better and able to eat something. How is the pain and have you made a decision?

Thank you Saveinla, I am feeling better; some discomfort, but no pain. Eating solids is still a no go, but insure/boost, applesauce, pudding, icecream, etc. is helping.
Today was my first day back to work since the 13th and I'm tired even though all I did was open mail, check and answer email, and update some files. Tomorrow should be better.
I have decided to go for the transplant as long I'm a candidate. I will not be referred to the program until January and then it's up to the doctors there as to whether or not they will put me on the list. I'm also seeing a counselor through my organization's EAP, so that should also help.

Keeping you in my thoughts. Be strong, the waiting would be hard for me. I am too impatient. We are all here to root for you.

I did have a friend donate part of her liver to her best friend who had Hep C. It extended her life a good 10 years and they were 10 good years. I wish you all the best.
