Looking for recommendations so try to convince me - tell me about it --is it a comedy, etc. and a little sumthin sumthin...(no major spoilers though, please )
So far I have watched / started watching
House of Cards--I loved it up to season 5 than it started losing me (jumped the shark majorly IMO...I can suspend some disbelief for a show but not that much)...I haven't finished season 5 yet (I have like 3 more episodes left I think....)
The Killing - The first 2 seasons were awesome, need to be in a museum IMO. But I do not usually love murder shows, but this was so much more than a murder mystery show to me- drama, some humor, politics, etc...,,season 3 & 4--blah
Unbreakable Kimmy- it took me like 3 episodes to get sucked in and for it to "click" but now I love it (up to start of season 3 so far).
I tried Orange is the New Black and made it through first 2 episodes, but it seems an OK show (maybe I need to watch a few more?), I haven't watched in like 3 weeks since watching those 2 episodes.....

Ozark- A Chicago financial advisor (Jason Bateman) has to launder money for a Mexican drug cartel or else they will kill his family. The cartel assigns a member (Esai Morales) to make sure it gets done. So he goes to a small town on the water called Lake of the Ozarks, MO posing as an angel investor trying to help failing businesses. He gets mixed up with a local criminal family who he has a love/hate relationship with. Some work for him, some want to kill him. An FBI agent follows him posed as a tourist believing that catching him and linking him to the cartel will make his career.
It's pretty good and I've already binge watched the first season. Don't watch it until the kids are asleep. There is a lot if cursing and some killing.

Night Shift- ER in San Antonio Tx. Keeps you on the edge all the time
Or maybe you prefer some foreign series especially if you have any interest in history. "Ertugrul" a Turkish series-200 episodes of about 50 minutes each- that walks you through the staging for the creation of the Ottoman Empire.

I'm not sure this is on Netflix, but Bates Motel. The actors that played Norma and Norman were great.

I've been watching the US version of Shameless on Netflix. It is a 'dramedy' about a f-ed up family in Chicago. Lots of cursing, drugs and sex scenes

I 3rd the Ozark recommendation. I just finished it a few days ago.
Longmire - Police drama set in Wyoming. I think the final season is approaching
Stranger Things - I LOVE this show. It is set in the 80's, which is awesome IMHO. I love that the kids have no cells phones, ipads, other tech devices, etc. You have to like shows about aliens and/or the supernatural to enjoy it. The 2nd season starts in October - Yay!!
Grace and Frankie - Two older ladies find that their husbands are gay and want to be together. The two ladies end up moving in together. It has a great cast. 3 seasons so far.
Atypical - I just started this show. I have watched 3 episodes, I think. It is about a high functioning boy with Autism.
13 Reasons Why - drama about a girl who kills herself. She leaves tapes with the 13 reasons why she killed herself. It takes you down an interesting and dark path.

Curious and unusual deaths The office I noticed Curious and Unusual was suggested for me on my Netflix profile so I decided to try it. I can't stop watching it. Some of that stuff is messed up!

Yes, Dexter is fabulous (if you never watched it on Showtime). I am thinking about re-watching all the seasons.

I vote for Stranger Things - its everything movingforward said - but I'd agrue that it's more 'horror' genre homage based with a side of sci-fi/supernatural thrown in for fun. (the season finale gave me true terror - in the same way the Pale Man in Pan's Labyrinth did... I generally yawn thru horror movies or just get disgusted by the grossness/gore... versus actually being terrified).
I loved all the 80's stuff - I can remember reading about Sensor Depravation Tanks in Omni Magazine and thinking it would be totally cool or really terrifying... Never did go 'tanking' even though I had the opportunity... I did and still do play Dungeons and Dragons which is also in the show <-- neither are spoilers just an example of how some obscure 80's stuff is woven into the show.
Not sure you can stream it - but I have heard good reviews for Preacher (dark gory humor).

I've watched all the superhero shows and liked them all except Jessica Jones (I only watched like 2 episodes), but I think I didn't give that enough of a chance, I plan to try to re-watch it soon
Looking forward to Defenders in a few days and Punisher later on

I won't admit the number to times I've watched all the episodes of The Walking Dead, can't wait for the next season to be released on Netflex. Grace and Frankie is hilarious, but sad at times, but I love it anyway. I've started watching The Killing, pretty good so far. I only watch on the weekends, because I sometimes have a short attention span/can't still long enough and have to go back and re-watch scenes again.

We finished "Rectify" this spring. Great show. A teenager sentence to death row for a murder/rape he did not commit, but railroaded by the local prosectutor. The story is about his family and lawyer fighting to get it overturned, and his story told about death row, his release on tainted evidence and the back and forth of lawyers and prosecutors as well as family dynamics of the people affected over the years of this mess.
Currently finishing up two seasons of "Intelligence". Actually was aired something like ten years ago. A Canadian production of a major marijuana drug seller and his trials and tribulations with Canadian police, Canadian intelligence agency (where he an informer for them), the DEA, FBI and late in season two, the CIA. Reminds me of the Sopranos in some ways, but not as bloody, and centers around the strip joint he runs, but nudity is held to a minimum, probably due to the Canadian production and television codes.
You cannot go wrong with Dexter. The "black humor" is astounding. Great show. Very gory. We also like "Ozark", although filmed in Georgia instead of the Ozarks.

I was wondering about Intelligence. Thanks VB, I will give it a try.
I have only watched 4 episodes of Rectify so far. It took me two episodes to get into it but I am starting to become very interested.

It took me two episodes to get into it but I am starting to become very interested. We really had to pay attention with Rectify. There is a lot of segments that go back in time to explain how it played a part in the "present" episode. The main character was complex and difficult to get a handle on at times....... Intelligence is hard to factor in the 2nd season, as it is difficult to see how this plays out well in the end. I can only hope they do not do a similar disappointing Soprano ending.

I loved The Crown. I have fascination with British Royalty that started with wedding of Diana. This show gave me insights into the life of Queen Elizabeth's early life.

I really enjoyed Stranger Things. There is another show called Travelers, with Eric McCormack that I also liked. House of Cards is good also. Right now, I am watching Ozark. I think Jason Bateman is outstanding in this show, but I am soooo tired of the "F" word in every sentence. There are many shows I quit watching just because I get tired of all the cursing. I am not a prude, but jeez, come on. After a awhile, it detracts from the storyline (for me, anyway). OK, rant over.
I have seen all the Marvel shows. I liked Daredevil best.

This show gave me insights into the life of Queen Elizabeth's early life. it's actually a pretty heart-wrenching series. Most working wives and mothers have a hard enough time balancing our work and home responsibilities - I can't imagine the types of choices you'd have to make as a wife, mother, and queen of a nation. I felt sad for her AND Phillip. They were so happy before she became queen.

I just new the queen as pretty much figure head who had an easy life, but gained a lot more respect for her after the show. I hope they do another season.
