I used to be motivated by my DH. If he could do X so could I and I could do it better mentality. But now I’ve outpaced him in terms of what exercise due to an injury he’s rehabbing. So now I need to figure out some sort of internal motivation.
I also think I’m just bored with my routine. I just can’t figure out what new routine would motivate me.

(I'm not good at that because my schedule isn't consistent, and/or I'm not good at making myself a priority.)

So, I'm taking Chloe's suggestion and I signed up for a fitness bootcamp like class. Or, I will sign up on Wednesday, which is the first day of the new class. Maybe. If my social anxiety doesn't get the better of me and I convince myself I shouldn't go b/c I won't know anyone.

That might be true, but until I've been to a class or two, my mind keeps saying "These people all know each other and they are going to be wondering why you are randomly joining them, so just don't bother". I'm about 99% sure I'll go and just get over it, and I'll be super glad that I'm doing it, but the amount of effort it is taking to convince myself to do it is monumental. I'm a wuss, I know

That would be a plus for me I won't be joining any class that isn't free though, there's no spare cash for paying to workout. Still hunting my motivation, send it back if you find it.

I'm a wuss, I know I was worried about the same thing and decided to just go and see what it was all about. I went and did the class (and was sore for a while after) and went home. I kept going back and the soreness eventually went away and the class got easier. Who cares who's there or what they think. You just go and do you.

Weekly check in
I made it thru the week. All days over 5000 with one day over 10,000.
No real goal this week. Just hoping to get in at least 5000 steps a day. DF is still in ICU step down. I am hoping he will be transferred to rehab this week. So far it is looking good for the transfer. Not sure which facility he will end up at. I am hoping for the suburban location near work however I am thinking it will be the main campus.

When I go to yoga classes, sometimes I'll check out what others are doing, but ultimately I know myself and I'm there for me - no one else.

after breakfast, lunch, and snacks, I have just under 700 cals left for the day. I'd like to be under 1200 at bedtime (that's not a normal goal, but I'm doing a very minor "fast" today due to my awful food choices).

I broke my own rule--didn't have a minimum 400 calories for lunch, so what did I grab on my way out the door? 2 chocolate chip/m&m cookies.

While reading my weekly digest from MFP today, I realized I signed up 5 years ago. And I might be a whole 2 pounds down from where I started.

That's how I'm choosing to look at it, but I really need to lose about 50 pounds and I could be done by now! I wasn't lying when I said zero motivation.

Pick just one simple thing to change/substitute, and see where that gets you.

I am going to start by giving up soda pop. Then after Christmas I will work on cutting way back on sugar. I came up with a strength training routine that I like and I think I will stick with it longer than others but I'll have to see if it is enough to change my body.

I gave up alcohol, then soda and started sucking down water. Then I started working out with a stair stepper machine then doing walking dvds. I am actually impressed with myself with what I've been doing. About all that's left is really overhauling my diet but I don't really have much interest in that and I don't eat all that much anymore. Just really not interested for some reason.

I came up with a strength training routine that I like and I think I will stick with it longer than others but I'll have to see if it is enough to change my body. This is the change that will have the biggest effect on weight loss. Replacing soda with water is huge. It's hard, but it's so worth it. Any other small change you make will be nowhere near as big. Trust me. If you can do that and just walk for 15 more minutes a day or take up whatever gym class you like, even a day a week, you will be golden.

I figure I don't smoke, I don't gamble, I don't go to the bars other than a couple of times a year. I think giving up that plus working out 4 days a week should be good. My diet isn't total crap, but I have room for improvement.

I drink water pretty much all the time, very rarely do I drink anything else. I need to work on my snacking and love of sugar. And moving more.
I need to remember that I managed to lose 6 sizes several years ago and not go back up and that I can keep going and get this done. I just wish I had a magical motivation pill to take every day, because I just don't care.

So, I went to my new group workout last night. I managed to find a couple other folks who were brand new and didn't really know what was going on any better than I did, so that was nice. I'm not sure how much I'm going to get out of this, last night was a little disappointing in terms of difficulty in the workout, but I figure it's worth it for the social aspect alone. I love my DH, but I NEED to get out of the house more, and make friends who aren't him or coworkers. Plus, it moved me around for a good 45 minutes, which is worth something.

No. But I'm hopeful since last night was the first night, that they'll increase the difficulty as we go along. Also, they didn't take my money or my sign up sheet last night. Weird. But I feel a lot better about it having not yet paid for it Plus my new friend just texted me, so even if all I do is get out of the house and socialize, it's probably well worth it. Ha!

We did family pictures with the in-laws last night. My SIL is a wonderful person and I'm very, very glad to have her as a friend. She and dh know I get to keep her if we divorced. But to the point...SIL had a beautiful baby about 6 months ago, when I saw her last night I thought to myself that she has definitely lost any baby weight she gained, but only told her that she looked fantastic (which she would have whether she had lost the weight or not--she is just a naturally beautiful person on top of being perfectly put together all the time). We were talking about getting pizza after pictures and FIL--her dad--says to her in response "I thought you would want to lose some weight?" It might not seem that bad as a stand alone comment, but dh and SIL have had a lifetime of this kind of shit and after my 20 years of dealing with it I'm about to lose it. I called him out on how inappropriate a question it was and then pretty much ignored him after that, but told dh that I'm afraid of what I'm going to say to them the next time this comes up (and weight comes up every time we see them).
I've only gone over for holidays this last year because I knew my self esteem couldn't handle their comments. My self esteem seems to be much stronger, but I don't know that I will have any kindness in me when I finally blow. FIL asked my 4 year old daughter about her belly once and dh shut him down. Probably nicer than I would have been but so far I haven't heard anything else, so hopefully the message came across.

FIL better have a perfect body if he's commenting on people's weight or I would have to work a comment on his need to lose weight in every conversation.
