I gave up alcohol and started exercising. That's it in a nutshell for me and believe me, when one was drinking a box of wine from 5 AM to about 8 AM, that was self-medicating. Exercise works for me. Oh, and went on an anti-depressant so I could stop fantasizing about how I was going to commit suicide. It was either going to be in a blaze of glory, say off a bridge on 95, or just OD on pills at home.

I'm losing the fitbit tonight to wear a tennis bracelet instead. My steps are going to look horrible, but I'm going to look good!

I'm up 3 pounds again and I don't feel like it's for any known reason. No binge weekends, cooking at home for the most part, reasonable portion sizes. A lot of late night homework and I always end up snacking, but it hasn't been on crap or non-stop. I guess I'll start journaling for a while to see if it is just adding up to more than I think.
We're getting out on the bikes a lot too, although that includes with the 4 year old on training wheels so I can't say its getting my heart rate up. It isn't quite so painful for me to get on and off my bike though which is a win. I need to get one of those hitches so dd can still ride a bike but she's attached to mine so we aren't so stop and go.

When I actually look at the reality and track bite for bite, it adds up to way more than I thought I was consuming.

I completely feel bad for those of you who have full-on desk jobs! Today was a non-school day so teachers could finalize and enter grades. I must have spent six hours sitting at my desk. My step count is at 8,177 right now (8:30pm for me) and I went to the gym for the elliptical after work!

I didn't do too much this week, mainly because I had after work activities Tuesday and Wednesday, so no time for exercise. Thursday I ran/walk for 30 minutes, and it felt great. I am so happy I can finally do a back to running program. Hubs got a Charlie horse early that morning and his calf was still bothering him, do he decided to do the run/walk with me. For as fast a runner he is, he is a slow walker! I'm doing 3 min run/2 min walk intervals now, will bump it to 4 min when 3 feels consistently good.
We did yoga in the park together this morning. Hubs did pretty good for his first class! I think yoga will help with his marathon training.
I think one thing that has been helping me is that I started taking tart cherry juice concentrate a couple of weeks ago. Two tablespoons in the evening. I am taking less naproxen and I'm not feeling as uncomfortable in my surgical side, and I think it's helping me recover better from my run/walks. In my head or not, I'm sold!

I have a desk job that has me chained to it 8-10 hours a day and lately several hours on a Saturday. I do have to walk to the opposite side of the building to go to the ladies room and I do commute via public transit, with both my home and work being only a block from the train. If I put in no effort at all, I will have barely 5k steps for the day.

I've heard of it for gout--my dad used it. The stuff's expensive.

Weekly check in
Hit my modest step goal last. Was over by 7000.
Weight is creeping up.
This weeks goal is 72500. Stretch goal is 77000. Try to curb snacking.
Have a great work everyone.

I spent most of last week in Chicago for work. It’s amazing to me how much easier it is to get steps in when I’m not driving everywhere. I can’t even tell you how much I miss that.
On the other hand, it’s nice to be home to my city of 90,000 instead of what feels like 9 million 😉 sometimes, that many people in one place get on my nerves. Haha.

The band on my fitbit broke, tried taping it and that didn't even work, so I can't wear it. I'm not happy without it! I contacted them and have to send them some info/photos so I hope they can get me a new band.. I'm not sure if it's just the band or what since I wasn't even aware until now that you can change them out. So sad I can't see my steps, I'll just have to make an effort to take walks anyway and not be lazy.

I think you can change the bands even though on some of them it's not really advertised. My brother got me a Fitbit charge HR 2 for Christmas. He wanted my old Fitbit charge HR. Apparently you can change the bands on those even though I didn't think you could.

The 3 of us are working out 3 days a week. I couldn't go today, been really sick. I will say over the last 3 weeks have lost 6 pounds, but I think its because I've been sick. It finally settled in my throat and I'm on penicillin.
The thing that is bothering me is DD is gaining weight, she has picked up 2 pounds! I know she isn't eating more here, she goes to a center 2 days a week but I can't think she is eating that much there. I want to help her but not sure how. She is walking at least a half mile 3 days a week, working on machines with me, and also doing the exercycle, she isn't doing a lot but considering she was not even moving at all this if a lot for her. Once I feel better going to try and get her up to a mile 3 times a week, maybe that will help. I can say she is really trying, she is trying to do like DIL so that's good.
I imagine mine will be back if I get to feeling better and able to eat. I was about 185 to 186, this morning weighed 180. Wish it would stay but doubt it.

Oh I hadn't thought of that, I assumed it worked when the sensors were on your wrist but that's dumb of me to assume, since old fashioned pedometers work just on your belt or whatever. I'll carry it around at least.

Yeah I throw mine in my pocket or purse sometimes when I'm pushing a shopping cart. Better than nothing even if it's not 100% accurate.

I was actually thonkong.of divorcing my fitbit. However, the new company has challenges that I can sign up for to earn gift cards through their wellness plans and the app synched to the fitbit. Dammit! Looks like I'm keeping the fitbit!

so as I work through my leftovers from the small Thanksgiving dinner I cooked for myself this past weekend, I think I might have to seriously consider following my sister into food sensitivity hell. my body just does not appreciate the content of what I've been eating the past few days, and I feel pretty miserable overall. I'd be lying if I said that dinner wasn't a test/last hurrah, though. but the random "zit" on my chin that popped up this morning isn't one that's giving me a warm and fuzzy feeling about this. so, I need to do some serious thinking about how I want to overhaul things. the first step is going to be clearing out the processed foods that have yeast/yeast extract. I need to figure out if I should be excluding vinegars as well, because this week's slug of stuff is bread/carby stuff - which is yeast. I'm wondering if because I don't have anywhere near as severe a case of the AI, if I don't have to go all-in on taking stuff out. the reason I'm posting this here - I'm going to be the clean eating queen pretty soon. oy. the worst part? wine's on that no-no list. what I'm hoping to discover is, after I cleanse my system, if I can have things in moderation......because well, wine.

Went to the gym tonight. I didn't get there as early as I wanted and some girl took my spot! I did take pleasure in watching her about to pass out during most of the class. Maybe she won't take my spot again! It also made me feel pretty good because I'm a lot older than her. Yay me!

If my mom's scale is correct, I may have just broken the 150 barrier, due to stress/busyness not eating as much. So, yay for silver linings, I guess.

There is this wellness benefit at the new job that you can sign up for all this cool stuff. You have to be above a 23 BMI. I decided to see what my BMI was because I wasn't going to mess with it if I couldn't get the free stuff. My BMI is 29. Ha!

A coworker and I just went to the first WW meeting at work! We're doing 3 months (14 weeks?) of it with a wellness grant we got, so we're getting it at a good discount with that, and we are hoping that going to meetings and being weighed will help kick our butts back into gear. Both of us did the app-only WW in the spring and we both lost weight, but she's put it back on and I've plateaued. I need to lose my last 30lbs of baby weight and she's hoping to get pregnant soon and doesn't want her weight to be bad to start from with that. Gotta get back into the better eating mindset and try to be good tracking what I'm eating. Ugh, ready to do this.
Also Fitbit is going to send me a new band, but the size smalls are backordered for like 6 weeks. A different coworker said she got a nice band on amazon for like $10 so I'll probably pick one up so I can continue to use it - my steps are nowhere near accurate with it in my purse or pocket.
