well, typical yoga, I'm probably with you there. this is the hot yoga, where I'm told you could sweat half a person off each session.

I did Bikram a few times in Chicago about a dozen years ago. I was in okay to decent shape at the time. I found it extremely challenging and had to rest at times. I'm in better shape now in some ways, and there's a place close by. I'm older, though, and not sure how well I could handle it. Maybe it's not so bad if you're used to heat, but I've passed out several times in my life, so I try to be careful about things that could make me faint.

I tried a yoga video. Did not go well. Can't really afford classes right now as I have been spending like it's going out of style. Guess I'll stick to my stepper and Leslie Sansone videos for now. BTW, does using the stepper while eating fried chicken at the same time negate the calories? It's probably going to be the biggest thing I'll eat tonight. Maybe some pretzels and a small bag of caramel M&Ms that I just remembered I bought.

Currently I only have 3 but there are a couple of others I'd like to get. Once I can do a 2 mile Power Walk without dying. I tried the 4 mile one just for the hell of it one day. Stupidest thing I ever did. I couldn't walk the next day.

Well, gym week wrapped up. Now for the weekend!
So I was talking to Zumba boy yesterday and he was telling me that he didn't become fit until later in life. What?! Dude is like 2% body fat! He said he used to have a 42" waist. That's insane! He's about the same height as me. It gives me hope. I'll never be as muscular as he is, but I can still look good!

Anyone here tried the Herbalife shakes? A coworker and I are thinking about trying it for a month, I have to find out how much it costs first. Never done any of the shake systems before..

no on the shakes, cael.
so I just bought a local groupon for five classes at the Bikram yoga place, $29. it's normally $15/class. this should be interesting....
oh, and in other news, I may be altering my diet a little after my sister has a chance to meet with her new team of doctors at the end of the HS fall sports season (she's a coach). there's an autoimmune disorder that runs in my family, she's got a really bad version of it. mine is very mild, but I can tell when things aren't quite right. but basically, since she got her diagnosis a few years back, there has been more research into how the reactions change with various foods and how the disease responds to certain things. I guess there has been a link proven between flareups of this disease and brewer's yeast. she has basically started the elimination diet that any doctor would do first, and is taking notes/measurements/pictures, etc. she's lost almost 20 lbs in about two weeks, and pretty much all of the puffy bloat. she says she has more energy than she's had in years, and her skin has also cleared up almost completely.
I'm not sure what this means for me yet. she's been dairy free since her diagnosis, as that link was proven long ago. it is very obvious when she "cheats" or is cross-contaminated. when I have had a stretch of way too much dairy, I get a mild version of what she has (I am not about to describe it here...) and I know to clean up my act. but I'm wondering if I need to go this drastic of a route if my issues aren't nearly as severe. the weight loss and energy boost would be pretty sweet, but I'm not sure that my body's reaction to it would be as noticeable if I'm not seeing the extreme lows that she does. KWIM? and then the flip side of it is, I can handle dairy and yeast and all that just fine, now. if I remove all of it, and then find myself reacting badly to it later, that's going to suck. so idk what I'll do just yet. but I'm interested to hear what her new doctors will have to say.

I've wanted to try the Plexus, the spark, the herbalife, the thrive but I just can't bring myself to do it due to cost. Let us know how it goes!

I'd like to say I'm down five pounds. It's tricky because it depends on where I start counting. How about this: I'm down five pounds from the peak I reached July. I'm still two to three above where I was a year ago. I'm still ten pounds above where I was two years ago. I'm still 15 pounds above where I should be. I'm still 20 pounds above where I want to be.
But, I am down five pounds. I've been far more cognizant and determined to meet my calories goals these last four to six weeks. I'm proud of that.

I have been keeping track of my calories for one whole week. In the past I have quit after one week and losing a couple pounds thinking that I could just keep on track but I never did....I just started to overeat again. I lost 2 lbs from keeping my calories in check last week. Now I just need to keep it up. If you keep track of your calories do you weigh and measure every food item or do you approximate?

I don't weigh myself, so I assume that I weigh what I did last time since my clothes aren't any tighter. I don't really care about the number on the scale. I just want to be healthy.

My sister has a rather severe case and just chooses to deal with it instead of eliminating things from her diet. I don't understand why you would do that, but I'm not in her body. We all have things we can improve on and only we can make the changes. At the end of the day, you're the boss.

I just remember that we compared notes one day on the effects and they were the same. Advice from the doctor was the same. PM me.

I mostly approximate. If a barcode is available, I scan it. I also tend to go toward an over-estimation if I'm not sure.

I've calculated in detail for the first week or two, as I figure out a reasonable plan. Portion size, method of preparation, condiments - I figure out all of it at the outset, and track daily. After that it's easy enough to put together foods and stay within a budget.

Weekly check in
Finally hit my step goal. Short of my stretch goal. Weight is okay. Not great but not higher. Eating not good. Needs improvement.
I am going to take it easy this week. Goal will only be 60,000.
Have a great week everyone.

Spent the week focusing on my back... had a little set back yesterday, but spent time stretching, rolling, icing etc.
Hoping to get those steps back up this week and continuing with the core strengthening!

First gym day of the week is here! Who's with me?! Does the great outdoors count? I just went on a little power walk during my lunch... got back and was kind of sweaty. GROSS. went to the ladies room that is kept at roughly the same temperature as a meat locker and cooled off/ re-applied deodorant, scrubbed my skin with a body wipe lol Will get another good walk in today after work. The weather is too fantastic right now. 77 and sunny... in october!

yesterday I did a 40 minute wrist-free yoga session (my left wrist is still having issues even after upping my vitamin D intake and not putting a bunch of pressure on it) and today I did a 30 minute Lumowell walking workout. Today is turning out to be a "I WANT ALL THE CHOCOLATE AND CAKE!" day, but instead I am having a chai latte with a drop of honey and one creamer. Not great but not chocolate or cake.

I've been all over today tiring puppies out and doing chores. I may have to hose off before going to the gym. I stink. As soon as my floors dry, I'm jumping in the shower. I'll finish the rest tomorrow. They're both sleeping now.

Yesterday turned into a rest day after I spent most of Saturday night running to the bathroom after eating spaghetti sauce. Christ on a cracker, I ate 2 lousy meatballs!! DH got the rest of that sandwich. I did manage some scrambled eggs and toast later but still.... Then at 6 in the morning I decided to rearrange the living room. Then tried to sleep again. Then went to sleep on the couch for 4 hours. Today, I was trying out some dvds from the library but they suck. So back they'll go. I guess maybe I'll stick with Leslie for a while. I did my 30 minute burn with 3 pound weights and I can't tell if it's the added weights or the humidity that's making me sweat like a pig.
