Mini-rant ahead:
First, I know I've slacked on checking in here lately, though I've mostly been keeping up with my get-in-better-shape goal. Though, I went shopping for jeans yesterday - is there anything more depressing? - and didn't really like how I looked. (Rant within a rant - when oh when are skinny jeans going away? I hate them. I hate tight feeling clothes period. I don't care if they're stretchy, they're heavy and hot and I feel like my skin is oxygen deprived. Argh!)
Back to original rant. My exercise for most of the summer has been hiking. I live in Colorado so that's a given. Everyone hikes. I'll go back to the gym when it cools down. There are so many cool looking hikes I want to go on but am hesitant to go myself (wild animals, possible danger of meeting a weird person when I'm alone in the middle of nowhere, etc.). So I met this woman in one of the Meetup groups to go hiking with. We're going today, in fact, but she always wants to go so late in the morning. Now, I'm definitely a morning person. Today's a bit cooler, but normally it gets hot, and I want to be up and down the mountain before I'm keeling over from heat exhaustion. She wants to start between 10-11. Who wants to exercise then??! No use taking a shower before hand only to get sweaty and dirty and have to take another. I guess I could go to Walmart early and get groceries since no one cares that I'm unshowered there. She knows I like to go really early, so a compromise of even 9 am would be better, but nope. We're meeting at 10:30 today. It'll be 2 before we're done, and then the day's 2/3 over. Yes, I could just not hike with her or push for going earlier, but finding a hiking partner that goes at the same pace isn't easy. She'd be perfect if she'd just get her butt out of bed a couple hours earlier. Gah!
Ok, rant over. Great job everyone on continuing to strive toward your goals!

I live in Colorado and if I lived where there was hiking I would certainly go. I live about 2 hours east of Denver where there isn't much of anything. I have the same fears of hiking alone or sometimes even just walking alone. My favorite walking path in town has been taken over by a nutcase that they moved into the nursing home across the street. He walks across and chases the women and children. He scared my dog and I by chasing us down and we haven't been back since. He is just sooooo scary. So anyway.....I wouldn't want to hike in the heat of the day either. I have my own mini rant I was going to post. I woke up today and weigh 153 pounds. When I weighed 130 I told myself I would never get over 140. When I got to 140 I told myself I would never get over 150. When I got to 150 I told myself I would never get over 150.....and here I am. Ugh! I do admit I don't stick to my eating plan...to many sugars. And I don't exercise as much as I should. I work full time, am my parents caregiver, and have chronic fatigue so there are some days I am doing good just to make it through the day. And I agree with skinny jeans. I just went jean shopping and had to buy the next size up.

Back off my skinny jeans! We are rolling in to fall and they are perfect with my riding boots! I will wear them more days than not! So cozy and cute! Can't you just buy straight legged jeans?
Feeling more human today! Hooray! I spent the day organizing, purging and moving furniture. My lower back is killing me! Hello, weak core.
I loooove to hike! If I lived in Colorado, I'd go hiking in the morning with you flutterby!
MinimalGoals this week to get back in the swing of things... 10k steps each day. Core workout 2x Gym 2x (or sub home workout) Don't be an asshole with food.

According to DD#2 (age 15) high-waisted, slightly loose, but still tapered at the ankle jeans are coming into fashion. In some ways, they look like "mom jeans". So, totally dress like a teenager!

I've been wearing my generic fit-bit as an ankle bracelet. There are few reasons for this: I'm currently coaching volleyball, and I can't where it on my wrist during practice. When I go to work, I wear a watch. If I wear the watch on my left wrist, then having my fit bit on the left wrist is too much and having it on my right wrist looks weird (in my head).
It's been about three weeks of this. My husband commented today that I look like a convict with a home-bound ankle bracelet.

Weekly check in
Missed my lower step goal by 2520.
Not sure where to set step goal. I am think I am going to set it at 75000. I will be happy with 70000. Since work will be stressful for the next few weeks I hope to keep my stress eating in check.
Keep up the good work everyone. Have a great week.

Trying to do better this week.
Lunch is packed for today. I'm going to walk over to the pharmacy at lunch and pick up my prescriptions instead of driving.
I think I have almost kicked this sinus crap so I should have more energy this week. I swear those hurricanes stirred up pollen and crap because I know so many people who were sick with sinus and allergies last week.
Picking up a big container of spring mix on my way home so I can make salads for dinner. Going to try and get some big walks in as well. It's not supposed to rain all dang week so that will help. I go to my new primary care physician Friday and I would like for the scale number to be not so ugly.

Apparently, they're unicorns, because I can't find them anywhere. American Eagle used to have perfect ones. I've gone on Ebay and found some, but I also don't really want to look like I'm wearing the exact same pair of jeans every day. Sigh...

had some personal drama so the past 1.5 weeks have not been good. The "good" thing about me having anxiety is that I barely eat, so I was losing weight. The bad thing is that what I was eating was mostly carbs/sugar, I had no energy/motivation to exercise, and I was anxious/sad. I started to feel better near the end of last week and my eating levels are starting to get back to normal, but I still had little motivation to work out. I think I'm back to normal eating levels now, but I have to start eating better and working out better. This morning I did 30 mins of vinyasa yoga. Lunch will be leftover veggie pizza, and I have pork for taco boats (romaine lettuce instead of tortillas) in the crock pot right now.

Still eating on Whole30 (19 days in, 11 more to go) and feeling okay but not fantastic yet. I did go for a walk to the park yesterday + today which is a nice break. It only takes 15 minutes to do the full loop and my dogs can't walk much further so I want to do that daily if I can.
I have a weird workout schedule this week because of some calls tomorrow and taking my laptop in for repairs but I really want to go swim more before it gets cooler and walking out of the gym with wet hair is miserable. I'm super interested in my weight after this month of W30, so far I've lost about 40 lbs and I want to make it to 50 by my birthday in October.

I can't afford Lane Bryant right now where I usually get them.

I have a bunch from Old Navy. I think they changed their cuts in the past couple years, but if you see something called the "Diva" cut, it's a boot cut. I leave the skinny jeans for tucking into boots.

Kudos to you! i made it halfway through Whole30... the headaches and dizziness i would get when i would get hungry (well before my stomach would rumble) were just too much to deal with. And i could never get enough fat in to a meal to make the meal last for 5 hours (if i did... i would get heartburn!) it did make me so aware of labels and how freaking soy is in EVERYFREAKINGTHING

I'd like to find some straight leg jeans/pants that are not made for people with thin calves - I feel like my calves are thicker than average for the rest of me and whenever pants fit me well enough in the waist/hip area, they're tight on my damn calves any suggestions? I need some new jeans pretty soon, the Nine West ones I got on ebay that fit me perfectly are starting to get pretty worn in a few places...

Why not buy the same kind? Or do they not make them anymore? I wear Levis and they work for me. I think I have pretty big calves too, but I usually buy bootcut or skinny. I never tried straight leg.

I don't think Nine West makes jeans anymore, I found the next size down on ebay and can't find them in stores anywhere now. I'll check ebay again but that'll dry up eventually... I found the first pair I bought in a TJ Max last summer and haven't seen any since.

I overdid it at the gym yesterday and now my arm is killing me. I assume my right arm doesn't hurt because I'm right handed. My left arm wants no part of weights today. But I'm going to push through tonight and do it again. I didn't hurt myself, it's just sore.

Probably because you have a life. That's partially the reason I do so much in the gym. My lids are grown and now i have no life. As far as food goes, I'm a hot mess and have no advice to give.
But! I finally made a friend at the gym and yesterday we decided to start weight training after Zumba 2 nights a week. I'm looking forward to it.

I do well... and then something happens and it throws me off my game completely. I need to force myself into hardcore meal planning. I used to set specific meals each night with specific lunch and it was easier to keep on track during the week. I definitely don't feel as organized as I used to... I think that contributes to the derailing.

I know it's hard for most people to get enough healthy fats and sodium in their diets - especially sodium because it's omnipresent in prepared foods that I have to remember to add it back in for veggies and recipes I make at home. Today I did a bunch of scrambled eggs, mushrooms, potatoes, peppers, onions and zucchini for breakfast bowls this week. I do need to put some chicken in the instapot for the week and then finish cleaning up the house this afternoon. Yesterday was rough, I attended a funeral just about noon and there was nothing at the lunch afterward I could eat. Thankfully I packed a few RX bars, epic bites and some hot tea and then ate when I got home.

I have food prepped for the next day or so and plans in place once the temps drop on Wednesday and we can turn the oven on again.
Ready to get back to it!
Oh, and I have a 5k next Sunday that I completely forgot about. Oooops!
