Hi all, I want to join! I have 40lbs of baby weight I really want to lose because I feel (mentally and physically) like crap and I've had enough. Problem is I'm constantly busy, I'm lazy and I boredom-eat a lot, and at the end of a night lately I'm just too tired to either cook or bother to find something healthy to eat, so I either don't eat or I munch on popcorn or goldfish or cookies. so I need to get back on track in a huge way. I got a fitbit for Christmas and I'm enjoying seeing my step counts daily, it helps me remember to get up and take a little walk around if I'm not out during the day. I won't come close to 10k most days but I'm leaving that as my daily goal for now, it's something to try to work up to (depending on how work is daily, sometimes I'm in the office a lot and sometimes I'm out most of the day). A coworker just started Weight Watchers for 3 months and I think I may try it out and join her, for the sole reason that having a points limit per day and knowing what foods are what points I feel would be an easy way for me to try controlling what I'm eating. The less I have to think about the food end of it the better - I can try to plan my food shopping accordingly and go from there. Anyone have any experiences (good or bad) with WW? I'd like to start doing some workout routines and yoga at home when I can, probably evenings. Had a few apps recommended to me so I'll play around and find something I like, and I know there's lots on youtube. I mean, I could write myself a list of exercises and reps and stick to it, but I"ll look for some guidance and ideas. I wish I had the time/money/awakeness for boot camp - I am going to try the Baby boot camp in my city some Saturday when I have the time but I probably won't be able to do it regularly. Haven't weighed myself in about a month, so I should do it tonight... last I checked I was about 189. I was 150 when I got pregnant which was still 10lbs up from where I'd like to be, but seriously anything I can lose now is going to make me feel better, so off to the races I go. You showed up! Hello! My boss has had good results with weight watchers but has had trouble sticking to it long-term. That's a very big list you have there - what do you want to tackle first? My sister lost 100 pounds with weight watchers. She didn't keep up with it though and gained all of it back. She swears she's going to start going to the gym next month when all the resolution people are gone. We'll see.

I think the weight watchers would help me get into good habits and drop some weight. When I bother to track my food carefully and get a little exercise, I have good luck losing - two years ago before we went to Greece I used myfitnesspal to track food/calories and I lost 10lbs before the trip. I've never weighed this much before in my life so I'm hoping once I get down there I can maintain close to where I was. So the eating shape-up will be my first task, and I'll add some exercise in slowly on top of that (walking more, some home stuff when I can) and see what happens. The cookie, little bit of bread and a coke I'm having for dinner tonight is not a good start but the baby is sick and now I'm not hungry so, that'll prob be it for me tonight.

so I just ordered girl scout cookies. and a bag of Cheetos made its way into my shopping basket when I went to the grocery store for some canned soup tonight. at least I have this going for me - by the time I finished what I poured out of the bag, my stomach was already turning from the taste. hopefully I don't crave them all too often.

I feel you on the Cheetos. I was craving them so badly last week I bought a bag of the Market Basket ones. I'm impressed I still have any left. Girl Scout cookies, OTOH, yuck. Can't help you there. I am apparently one of the few people in the world who can't stand them. DH, pig that he is, would eat 4 boxes in one sitting. And he wonders why I won't buy them now. Geez.

My kryptonite: cheetos + bota box pinot noir. Can't have one without the other.
Also, Samoas, but those are easy to avoid since they're hard to get.

I don't care for them either. I dislike pretty much all boxed cookies. There is a local bakery that makes thin mint type cookies and they are freaking amazing! Sent from my Nexus 10

the only ones I really have a problem with are the peanut butter sandwich cookies. although, I did grab a box of the logo shortbreads to see about making my own ice cream sandwiches with some funky flavored gelatos. I could leave that in the freezer at work for a small dessert toward the end of my shift. oh, and I bought a box of thin mints so the roommate will leave my PBs alone. lol...

I did about 3/4 of a chair workout over lunch. Gave myself heartburn. I didn't do anything that required me to put a lot of weight on the still not completely happy foot. But I did something! And thank you everyone for the kind words about my aunt.

I did absolutely nothing today. I got up late, 3:30 in the afternoon late, and the most activity I have done, so far, was get the mail and call back someone about a couple of jobs. Left a message. Started drinking my water for the day. Debating a workout. I leave for work about 7:15 and I still need to feed myself and DH. Maybe just do some walking in place while making supper.

I made the mistake of pointing out that we didn't do squats last night at zumba. I said I hated squats. Instructor said we don't do squats every time. I said yes we do. He said since he knows that I like them so much that we're definitely doing them tonight. I hope he goes easy on me, but won't hold my breath.

Great job on finding a chair workout CL!!
Every muscle in my body is screaming at me. The last trip up the stairs was awful. Guessing dehydration. I was sick Monday night. Usually that throws me off until my body realigns.
Damn evil Buffalo Wild Wings for putting soy in the spinach and artichoke dip.

Well, he made me do more squats than usual. I survived and will go back tomorrow.

Eating has been mostly okay. Have felt like crap the last couple of days so haven't done anything healthy. Feeling a bit better tonight so did get my 2 miles in. Was hoping to do more, but that's enough of a win for tonight. Will get a bit more exercise in a bit when I have to wrestle the cat into submission to put in her ear drops.

Sorry about the soy WVU, WTF is wrong with some places?
I'll try my chair workout again today but I really need a chair without arms and there's no such animal here at the office. I tend to do stuff at lunch because I have a long one and can do it uninterrupted, unlike at home. I may just have to suck it up and try at home instead, armrests made a few things awkward.

Just a quick update on my no carb week. Monday was the worst. By noon or so I was light-headed, and it got worse as the day went on. Tuesday, not as light-headed, but I had a raging headache all day. By Tuesday night I was feeling better. I've felt fine since Wednesday. I will say, I haven't been the least bit hungry eating this way, and I'm surprised I haven't been craving carbs more. I figure I went from about 150-200g of carbs a day to 10-15g. I don't think it's going to be as easy to keep it up over the weekend though.

Does anyone on here use a pedometer that is not a Fitbit? Can't afford one right now so I'm looking for something decently priced (under $50) that I can download onto my computer to help myself out. I had one years ago through an old job but it crapped out right around the same time as my job.😛

(Not sure you can find it quite that cheap anymore.) I didn't want anything too expensive, as I'm only mildly curious about my steps. The interface with my phone and myfitnesspal is really quite nice.

Stupid name but it's just what I was looking for.

Weekly update:
150 flights of stairs (didn't work on Monday so I'm short 25) Made it to the gym 3 times, and I was able to increase the weight on a couple of machines, so hopefully I'm getting stronger 106.2 lbs
I need something for the sweet craving. I've been having a bottle of Crystal Light or that Ice stuff, but those aren't quite cutting it. I'll look for sugar free candy or something when I get groceries today. Oh, and I tried a couple sips of a friend's diet Dr. Pepper. Not nearly as good as my beloved Mt. Dew, but not bad, so I think I'll get a couple cans for when I'm really craving soda.
So far, this low carb thing is going well, so I'm going to keep it up for another week.
Hope everyone has had a good week with their goals!

Hope everyone has had a good week with their goals! Just a thought... any "sugar free" items that use a chemical sugar alternative tend to increase sugar cravings. Using something found in nature, like honey or fruit limits sugar craving and still hits the spot. ;D Sent from my SM-N920T using proboards

Sarcasticgirl, I'm betting you're right. I don't really like using any diet/alternative sugar products anyway, because I figure that just can't be good for you. It's a moot point anyway, since the only sugar-free candy I found had as many carbs as regular. If I really can't stand it, I'll just have a few chocolate chips.

Prepping food for the week... steaming veggies now.
Am struggling so hard with my allergies. I am so tired of my head feeling like it is going to explode.
Haven't stepped on the scale, didn't do great with my steps this past week due to not feeling well. Also onlt did yoga once. Back at it this week.

I'm not down any this week, but I have stopped going up; so that's good. I was in quite a bit of pain last week due to spine issues. It's a bit better now, but it really hurt my activity level. In order to not be so upset, I reduced my 10,000 steps-per-day goal to 8,000 for the latter half of January. I do not include cardio work-outs in that count. I still only met the goal four days this week. our I've tried to go low carbs or no processed sugar before, and I can't even make it more than a few hours. I have such little will power when it comes to food. I'm so impressed with your efforts flutterby .

Weekly Check in
Missed step goal by over 12000. Was a very stressful week at work and this upcoming week will be more of the same.
Weight up .2. Not bad considering the poor eating habits of late in the week.
This week goals
70000 steps. When feel the urge to stress eat drink water/take a walk.
Have a great week everyone.

2 weeks into this stupid ankle screwing me up and I'm annoyed about not being able to walk as much as I want. Even to get crap done. It still swells up if I am on it too much. I'm pretty much maintaining, and since I last posted did the chair workout once. Think my next search will be something more arm oriented and skip stuff I know makes my ankle unhappy, because the chair one is annoying.

steadily dropping, and slowly. that's awesome, it will be more likely to stick. I didn't step on the scale this morning, but was down to 208.2 yesterday morning. this weekend, the pups and I went to check out two different dog parks in neighboring towns (my town doesn't have one). we liked the one that's farther away better than the closer one, but those are definitely going to be options to change things up a little when a basic walk feels like it will be too boring. this morning, we tried to walk the canal, but as the storm rolls in it's becoming a wind tunnel out there. I did a quick loop-around to see if the baseball field for the HS was fully fenced in, if I could let them off leash. that was a no, so we went back to the house and just did a quick tour of the neighborhood before I left for work. as far as food goes, I've mostly been keeping on track. I could be better about it, but I can live with some unhealthy snacking here and there as long as I don't go completely off the rails.
