buy recommendation:

ICAGY at $10.

it is ridiculously cheap at this price.
there is a lot of bearish sentiment in the airlines right now, but there is no reason to be bearish on this stock.
everything is golden for them.
thy have NONE of the Boeing 737 problems.
their routes and earnings continue to grow.
they have 5-10% revenue growth year after year, and 10-20% earnings growth.

this should be a $30 stock.

really good week.

would have been up a lot more without my mainstream investments, and rare earth metals stocks.

instead was up only slightly, but very steadily gained all week long.

+1% in the last six days of trading.

an investment strictly in gold would have fared better, but I will take it.

Asian markets are sharply lower (2-3%)

gold is +1%

silver is +2%

dow and NASD futures are down about 1/2%

AU:BMN is +5% in trading in Australia

au:NCM is also +5%

this is probably going to be a very good day for me.

just checked the Euro and South Africa markets.

the gold stocks are sharply higher in both places.

DAX is down 1.15%

FTSE is down 0.47% (not bad)

Trump tweeted that China had asked to set up a meeting,

and gold reversed course to nearly unchanged.

it is amazing how quickly things can change in the market

I finished +0.6%, which is about what I would expect being 50% cash in an up market.

this is a surprising day.

I am up just as much as yesterday, but without gold rising.

1/3 of it is thanks to NORZINC, which is on a bit of a tear. it was +15% yesterday, and is +15% today (after a trade halt). I have no idea wtf is going on there.

another standout is First Water trust. this thing has been a great investment for me, and is a long term hold. it is +73% since I bought it, it pays a small dividend, and it has consistently outperformed the sector.

also moving higher is the solar trust I own. after getting beaten down for years, this sector is roaring back.

again: surprising move higher, but nice to see.

I have another boomer that flew under the radar: Radisson.

this stock went into a slump last year, losing 60% of it's value.

but it gained almost all of it back THIS year, including a 40% gain in the last WEEK.

i might unload 20% of this. but here is the thing:

the reason for the big push is that McEwan bought a stake in the company in a private placement.

for those of you who don't know this guy, he is maybe the most distinguished investor in this industry.

very bullish for this stock, which trades for 15 cents as RMRDF.  it hit an 18 month high today.

silver has been lagging the last year.

gold is +30%, and silver is still up only 25%.

so, this is regression to the mean.

but yes, I have benefitted from this. CEF is a 50/50 fund gold and silver.

Copper is so disappointing. I want to invest in FCX, but they have way too much coper exposure. FCX is below $10, and there is rumbling that Rio Tinto may want to buy them.

I agree. when I say metals, I mean mostly precious metals.

fully 1/4 of my holdings are up over 4% this morning.

1% gain overall, and a two month high.

i am liking AGI at current pricing.

the street estimates are at $0.21/share earnings this year = PE of 30.
I think it will beat that easily.

it is selling for around $6.25 (without looking)

stock market is sharply lower this morning, and gold is higher.

I have been analyzing the charts for the last half hour. it looks like the bull market is still intact, but we are resting right on the bottom of the uptrend (lower support). the Dow is stronger than the NASD and SP500. if it goes really ANY lower, it will break trend, and that is bad news for the markets.

and no, that is not a prediction, because I am not sure what will happen.

arguably everyone needs it.

but China is probably the best market for it right now.

did anyone take my recommendation for ICAGY at $10. it is now up more than 60%

NOTE: I called that one perfectly, which is unusual. my timing is usually not that good. but this stock is going to earn $2.50/share this year, and should be selling for at least 10x earnings, which gives it a low target of $25 within (12) months. still a long way to go!

note: this has been a tough year for me, because I am negative beta invested.
but so far, I am up over 10%, and if it closes out well, it will be about 11%
considering that I am 50% cash, I think I did alright.

PS- I changed my cash investments to a high yield account. had I done that early in the year, I would have topped 11% already. live and learn.

copper is doing pretty well, now. how is FCX doing?

one more thing of note: gold and CEF are sitting right at the top of their trendlines, and threatening to breakout. silver already has. this looks like the beginning of another leg up.

Gold currently at 1480, silver 17. let's see what happens.....

well, that didn't take long.

now up over 11% YTD. +0.8% today.
CA:CS was up 10% today.

I am up about 4% since Thanksgiving. very nice year end rally.

several large holdings have lead the way, each up over 60% from their lows.......
