Surely he has enough friends in the industry to quiz, but around here the code books are at the local library. And at the building dept offices. You can't check them out of either place but you're welcome to go look stuff up.

I have a few friends that are plumbers and one of them owes me. He will actually do or oversee for plumbing and electrical. I'm ok myself with the rough plumbing or electric but not much for the finish touches. It's too finicky for me, I don't have the patience for it so that's when I bring in the big guns! That aside, I am taking suggestions/advice on anything while building my house. So whomever has a suggestion or had gone thru the process of building and encountered something atypical and they have a solution for it then by all means, I'm all ears!

So it's been awhile since I posted. Things are progressing, although it was a slow month+ as far as show-y progress. And to tell you the truth I've been not so much myself, the process has worn on me and I'm still struggling some. I am happy to say that most of the big decisions are made! And besides a little more ordering, mostly it's wait for stuff to roll in. The electric, plumbing and insulation inspection should be this week and then the drywall crews can get in for a few weeks and then the final stages I honestly haven't really even taken pictures lately. But here are two, working on the stone in the basement and all of the blue electrical boxes... More than any other house in the universe I think!

They kept asking me if I wanted more, like if I was sure I didn't want decorative lights in all the windows, etc. on the high shelf in the living room... There are so many. I know it's all good

My bookshelves arrived this am but 8 or 9 didn't make it on the truck... Not sure what will happen there. It's the small ones, but regular shipping would still be rather large. I figure it's not my expense though, right, I'm not the one who didn't put them in the truck... Could they just cancel them though?

The stone is local. An old barn foundation. I think we have 3-4 lined up for the house and walls. Husband just said they will ship the left behind shelves freight. He said he thinks I got a great price so I guess they look good

The stone is gorgeous. I am jelly. My Dad was an electrician. DH and I have outlets at least every 6 ft, maybe every 4 in the kitchen. Go for doubled up outlets in your bathroom (4 or even 6). We also have under counter and over cabinet lighting. Ceiling Fans in every bedroom and we have spotlights on the brickwork on the fireplace too. I rarely use the over cabinet lighting, that is the only one I probably would not do again.

I love all the outlets. When we redo our kitchen, I want the outlets up underneath the cabinets so I don't have to look at wall outlets all the time.

I'm using lots of child labor! The one in that picture is well compensated though, maybe too well

Wow! I LOVE that fireplace!
When you're all done with your house, could I convince you to put a fireplace like that in my house? (I've always wanted one.)

I'm sorry but that opening is too narrow. Tell Mroped he needs to redo it. Everything is looking fantastic!

Lol. Rumfords are tall and narrower, the box will also be shallow and angled to reflect heat . Although the hearth is going to be 14 inches I think? So there is that

OPED when I went to order my carpet, we needed to be in by 7/15. DH said the painting would be done, and they could install the carpet. The carpet installers called and said the carpet I selected would not be in stock in time for them to install by that date. So, I selected a different carpet. I had to cancel the install and reschedule b/c DH did not have the painting done in time.
We moved into our house and lived without carpeting for at least 2 weeks b/c we had to get out of our temporary digs. I know all about construction Delays.
