Looking at your DS, I'm thinking this is really just one big homeschool interdisciplinary capstone project, isn't it? ;-)

And it appears that mroped has been doing a "little" masonry work on the fireplace.

Omg. So I half heard when husband said the roof trusses weren't the pitch he originally suggested, but it wasn't till the last few days I realized they made the loft room WAY bigger than intended and the back 'attic' storage space is also huge. I could put another bedroom and bath there! The house just got so much bigger... Yikes.

With a full exposure, and a loft you will have a hella lot of house. going back to look for original plans.

I suggest wiring and plumbing for a master, even if you don't put it in. You don't know what the futures holds.

Everything gets wired as living space. There will be no room/ space without wiring for lights and recepticales. We do have cathedral ceilings in the living room. The loft will be completely wired, rough for now to finish later as we go and there is one corner where we already picked as a good spot for a bathroom since is lining up perfectly with the master bath below. For now, I'll be running a 3" schedule 40 for a vent to be used later for rough lining to the bathroom. The rest of the house is plumbed with 4" so we can get away with that one.

Sewer/refuse lines have to be by building codes a minimum 3" diameter. But you can go higher if you want. I put in 4" lines. They have to be thicker lines- schedule 40 is the thickness recomended for disposal lines, they are about 1/8" thick walls. Most homes have a 3" diameter sewer line but I'm using 3" diameter for venting the bathroom( sinks, toilets, showers etc) Now, the master bathroom has a vent of its own, for the appliances. Not to be confused with the ceiling vent for steam and so on. This one is for the draining system so it lets air in when the system is in use. That 3" vent, later on I can split off of it and install a toilet, shower, sink in the upstairs loft. The size of it allows me to do so and is code compliant too! Any other confused people?

In our present house we had just one vent for the two bathrooms so when we moved in and we rearranged the laundry room, I had the bright idea of putting a short vent, one way flop- also known as "cast vent". For some reason the toilet flushing now is noisier! Also, the darn vent keeps on sticking! Im assuming that my problem comes from the fact that the existing vent is 1.5" so there isn't enough volume for air to move fast when water is displaced. I'm just hoping that by having a 3" vent I'll avoid that. I'll stack the bathrooms but the toilet or sink won't be straight on the 3"vent. They'll be elbowed and moved laterally about 4'.
