So I'm thinking about adding boxing to my exercise routine. I think it would be good for my upper body. Zumba has been good for my legs as well as overall weight loss, but my arms are still flabby. Unless anyone can think of anything better. I don't want to work out on the machines. I'd rather take a class. Boxing is great for your arms. So are boot camp/body weight style workouts. There is another class that is a boot camp style. I guess I'll try the boxing which is right after zumba first and see what I think. I like the idea of beating the crap out of the bag. Plus it has to feel good. I'm gonna be a beast!

Sometime in the new year around in March, I think I'm going to start a Kundalini Yoga class and see where that takes me. It's $150 for 10 classes or $17 a class and it's on every Saturday morning.
I'll get my year end weight on December 13th and I'm going to start back in doing that plank challenge again in January 2017, cause I liked doing planks and I was seeing success with it.
My new snack, hummus with celery or cucumber.

I've thought about running, but I was never able to do it before. I would get winded walking too far. I have since quit smoking, lost some weight and turned some muscle into fat. I wonder if I shouldn't just do that for a bit after zumba since I'll already be warmed up. I'm nervous about looking like a fool though.

Running won't do much for your upper body, so if that's a goal i'd pick something different.

Running hasn't been that great for my weight loss. It definitely helps; I'm stronger and don't get winded as easily. Inches have been lost in some areas and gained in others. But for as hard as running has seemed at times, I would have thought I would have lost more. I only started losing more easily when I became smarter and more aware of controlling the calories coming in.

Serious question: Is there anyone on statin drugs who noticed a loss of muscle mass? I exercise every day and had decent definition in my arms and legs for someone who is 67. A few months ago, I noticed that the skin on my arms is hanging where previously it was toned. Any suggestions?

So next Saturday I don't have to work until late. Should I do Pilates then cycling, or the boot camp class?

A few months ago, I noticed that the skin on my arms is hanging where previously it was toned. Any suggestions? I'm not on statins so don't have any experience. A quick Google search indicates that muscle atrophy/loss of muscle mass can be one of the side effects. I would probably bring it up with your doctor. If the statin use is new and you've noticed the loss of muscle mass only since being on them it would be worth a conversation with your doctor to see if it's potentially a problem and if there are any alternatives.

The use of statins is not new thus my confusion, but I have been on the drug for more than 10 years. The doctor suggested adding co-enzyme Q10; however, I take Coumidin and Q10 can lower the INR scores. I will talk with the doc more when I see her next month.

Weekly check in - Steps not as high as I would like. Missed my goal by a little over 8000. Did okay with calories. Weight came down a wee bit.
I am going to keep my step goal at 70000. Really need to hit this goal to stay on pace for my 3.5 million steps for the year. At end of November I was just a little ahead of schedule.
Have a great week everyone.

Weekly Check in Missed step goal by a little over 11000. Weight is up. Winter arrived and all I want to do is sit under a blanket and eat junk food.
This week I am keeping my step goal at 70000.
Well time to get going for the day.
Have a great week everyone.

Weekly Check in. Missed my step goal by about 6200. For the rest of the year I am just hoping to maintain. Need to find a way to get more will power not to mindlessly munch and to drink more water.
Keeping step goal at 70000. Maybe this will be the week I can hit the goal.
Have a great week everyone.

Is it sad that all my Christmas presents will be workout gear? I'm getting workout clothes, shoes that are supposed to be the best shoes for Zumba, boxing gloves and a gym bag. Yay!

All I can say about last week is I am glad it is over.
I fell on ice on Monday so I had a couple of low step days. I missed my step goal by over 20000.
I am still on pace to hit my goal of 3.5 million steps for the year. Only need 40343 steps.
Have a great week everyone.

I am done with 2016. It was a stressful and crappy year and my progress went the wrong way. I am so over holiday food. Seriously. I won't step on the scale until the weekend, until then: healthy eating, lots of water ( traveling all last week- didn't get my water in) lots of steps and yoga. Then I will see where I am at and what kind of damage I have to work off in january.
I hope everyone had a great holiday!

I've been doing well on keeping up with my running, but sucked at everything else. I tried the 7 minute workout but got tired of that same routine. I saw something else where each letter of the alphabet was assigned a certain number of reps for a type of exercise. You then go spell something and that's your exercise routine for the day. It's only been a few days, but it's kept my interest. FYI-Mellifluous is a pretty word but an absolute bitch for this exercise...75 burpees! I hate burpees! I managed 25 tonight and thought I was going to die. I may have to shift that word to much, much later.

The only good thing in 2016 was I reached my goal of 3.5 million steps. Looking forward to 2017.
