2 long days (20 hrs total) for temp employer. 2 down, 2 to go, 40 hrs total while someone is off unexpectedly. Not too bad for a very temporary job and pay appreciated

I finally cooked my turkey and have taken the meat that I want, off the bones. (And the wish bone)




FWIW: I have given a magazine subscription, to someone I didn't know what to buy, for a gift. I gave Consumer Reports, cuz it sort of about everything.

Hmm.. Maybe we should start a thread for gift ideas. If you saw something, or thought of something, you think would be a good gift, you could list it there. Then those needing ideas, could refer to it. What do you think?

Wow that's COLD!! We got down to 56° but fortunately no lower.

Only 24 hrs in this week but got a check from Liberty Tax for being spammed by them. Onto more things!

I think my mood would improve greatly if I would think of one nice thing to post here every day.  I know good things are happening all around but I have trouble conjuring them up at the end of the day.

My coworker has been putting a chocolate on my desk each day this week.  I asked her why, and she said she has a box of them at home that she needs to get rid of.  I am happy to help her do so!

Before I wrote this, I would have said that there were a lot of not-bad things that happened today, but there was nothing I would consider "nice."  Sitting here, quite a few nice things have come to mind.

I'm going to change it up for this post... Today I gave a friend a ride to his bank and to his doctor's office, which I think was nice -esp. cuz I didn't really want to and he can be a pain. He bought me lunch, which was also nice.

I'm gun shy. I've had ca 4× and found another lump. But it's nothing!! Who knew lumps could be nothing? I do now

I'm on a reduced teaching schedule now because it's Finals. I have 3 sets of Finals to mark, I've already done one set. 

The other two were both this afternoon. One final finished at 4.45 pm, the other final finished at 7.45 pm. 

The Admin in charge of the final that finished at 7.45 told us we have to pick them up on Monday. Totally understandable.

But the Admin in charge of the final that finished at 4.45 told me she usually leaves at 5 pm, but she would stay late if somebody could help her sort them, so we could get them tonight. So I helped her, which meant me and another colleague were able to bring those exams home with us tonight instead of getting both batches on Monday.  

That was so incredibly kind of her!!!

Plus, it turns out I had 3 students with IEPs and extra time for their finals ... I told D, don't worry, I can get those 3 exams on Monday. She said actually no you can't, I'm not allowed to let you do that. Either you take all your papers for this exam or none of them. I said, I can wait but I don't want you to have to wait, you've already been really generous with your time. She said no problem, let's both get ready to leave, let's get our coats and our bags, and the exams will be here before we're done, and I'll sign you out for them while we're both on our way out.

And she was right!

Again, that was SO kind of her!

I finally installed two DVD's full of pictures onto my sister's computer. These are 400 pictures of our beloved late sister Peggy. Cindy is in tears. These are the pictures that Peggy gave to my brother Ted.

I'm getting an accidental 3 day weekend, well Thurs.-Fri. and Sat. night off are a weekend for me. Manager screwed up my schedule and gave me an option of Saturday as a paid vacation day. YES!! It's the family Christmas party so I had requested a day off switch due to a time off blackout. I'll take it.

I also found out I'll be getting my very own slave to train at work!! Well, helper. YAY!!!

Daycare for DD's dog is working out great. He doesn't bother the cats all day and he's only around for a few hours in the am and in the pm he's so exhausted from daycare that he's ready for bed. So our living together with her dog is working out!! It's just until after the first of the year then he goes back to school with her. At night he sleeps on her room with the door closed. So maybe 5 hours a day he annoys the cats. I can live with that.

Beautiful morning even if I was called off work. GS3 lying on the family room floor. He was supposed to come play with GD3 this morning but DD is all involved in adding onto her new place so they both crashed in her old room (gotta get going on the remodel). 2 lasagnas bubbling away in oven (1 for here, 1 for DS & DIL tonight along with an apple pie -- that's what they requested instead of GD4 gift {to not cook dinner} .... this is 2nd dinner of 3)

#1 8lb roasted chicken with all the fixings, muffins
#2 lasagne, bread, pie

So, I was at "Destiny USA" earlier today. I know, what a jingoist stupid name...it is a mall (hey it's kinda cold up here) and a lady with two young kids dropped everything that she had bought while she was coming out of a store.

I stopped and helped her put everything back in her bags. Other people just walked on. I know we all have to be careful about strangers, blah, blah, blah. But she was thankful and I felt good about helping another person.
