I thought about this as reading the rants here and wondered would it help your outlook if you thought / posted one nice thing a day? Or is your entire world negative? I'll start: I hate going to the doctor. I told the nurse that Monday when checking in for surgery ... that and we don't say the C word. She asked if I knew anyone who could take the stitches out when we get to that time. I said 'yes' (bf is an MD, sis is a FNP, DIL worked ER) so: she gave me a suture removal kit! That RN so gets me!!!

I'm happy that the lunar eclipse is going to be at a time when it's not unreasonable for my kids to stay up and see it. And I'm sharing with everyone I can!

I was just thinking this morning how I am happy to be retired but also grateful to have a low-stress part-time job to keep me from becoming a complete slug. However, I am also happy that I work at home so I don't have to worry about weather or traffic or annoying or otherwise irritating coworkers.
I am happy that my neighbors let me play with their dog whenever I want. Also, they might be getting goats. I like goats. Or possibly chickens, which would be fun, but I like goats better, so I hope it's goats.
Also sending good thoughts for Ombud's surgical outcome.

The weather here is fantastic. I can't get enough. Someone posted on Facebook and article that listed 7 local hikes that are great in fall weather. I think DH and I will try to do one on Sunday. Can't wait!

Also, I got an adult piano book and actually went through the first two lessons last night. It's coming back pretty easily. I really want to be able to sit down and play again.

I have lots of nice things today. I'm ecstatic that I have tonight and tomorrow off and can finally get some stuff done around the house. I get to do my once-a-month lawn mowing, find my flower bed, do a crapload of laundry-after I take last week's out of the dryer , find my kitchen table, spray paint a milk can we're turning into a movable mailbox post, plant some cat grass into a teapot I had DH drill a drainage hole into for me...and the most important of all is: work on my resume to apply to some new jobs and enjoy a bottle (or 2) of wine.

I have gotten pretty negative in my day to day routine over the last year or two, even though underneath that all I generally have an optimistic view on most things. Today besides fighting with my husband and feeling generally shitty about that (he's going through some depression issues and has been a hard sell on getting some counseling), I am happy because I have the whole afternoon to relax and do some homework at my leisure so I have some free time Sunday, and the screens are all back in the windows after the house was painted so I can enjoy some nice fresh air! Thanks for the reminder to look for the good things, I needed this today.

I bought some smoked gouda and I am really enjoying snacking on it. I am planning to start a low carb diet in a couple of weeks, and it is so nice that cheese will be a part of the diet.

One nice thing I did this week was starting to build a tree house for my kids, and they helped me...it was supposed to have happened ten years ago. But now that they are older, they can give me directions and help me out. You always appreciate what you put some effort into.

I like this!
Today DH walked the dogs in the morning. Normally I walk them or we do it together. So I made homemade cinnamon rolls for him.
I am trying to work on my mental health. Yoga and meditation are helping, but I think I need more of a sense of gratitude to go along with it.
I think sometimes reading these boards you can get yourself down by the constant griping and moaning even when it has nothing to do with you it helps put you in the mindset of wanting to complain or be ungrateful.

I just worked for 6 hours, so basically my check the week after next will have an additional 9 hours of pay in it also I'm going to a soccer game tonight with out-of-town friends who are up here escaping the pope in Philly lol. Should be fun! Soooo this, but it isn't the boards, it's work for me. Even if I'm in a fine mood, if my coworker bitches and moans all day it gets me down and bitchy, and vice versa for him. We've gotten pretty bad the last few years and are working on it - our work environment isn't always great, but overall it isn't horrible so we need to look on the better side of things.

I am still enjoying the delicious home grown tomatoes from my mini-garden! Sandwiches everyday. I also finally went and had an eye exam and picked out 2 new frames so very happy about that (been almost 4 years).

I started keeping a journal a few months ago for the same reason. As part of that I'm trying to write down three things I'm grateful for everyday, which can be surprisingly hard if you're not naturally inclined to look for those things. Funny how often little things like seeing my old dog feeling well enough to hobble after his tennis ball to play fetch, having a washer and dryer at home so I don't have to go to a laundromat, or a drive into work without any close calls show up as things I'm grateful for that day.

I got a Roomba this week. It is awesome and really helps with the tumble weeds of roaming dog hair.

My niece is in town and hasn't my DD since they were 1.5 and 2.5, respectively. Now my DD is 4 and my DN is 3, so it's great to hear them play together (with limited fighting too).

Not the time to mention I saw what few photos there were of me at DH's DD' s wedding and I look exhausted. Which I am and was but to see confirmation of it in photos was just depressing. . On the plus side DH looked good in the photos.

It is absolutely gorgeous outside today. I just got home from a nice walk through the park although I did get some cobwebs stuck to me after I left the path and went through the woods.

I've decided not to wait until I loose the weight and started going through my closet and getting rid of things. That makes me tremendously happy. Also, I am hoping that seeing some of my clothes that I really like will motivate me a bit to start loosing the weight.

We all went out to dinner -- 11 of us for pizza. I brought $160 but it only cost $90! Ate in the park bc they had too many flies outside but even that was a win! Kids loved playing there for our impromtu picnic Happy Dance Time

On a whim I clicked a couple of the links in that thread about cleaning your hard drive. I really haven't thought about cleaning mine because I am only using about 20% of the 500 something gigs of memory, but it is amazing how much quicker it is running now.
We've decided to go to a movie tonight. Tickets are about 6 bucks each, and two days ago I considered just renting something on itunes to save money. But then I realized we don't spend much and it is nice to get out of the house a bit more. I don't feel guilty about it either.
Oh and DH replaced the battery in the apple tv remote. For the longest time the signal was weak and it was a pain to deal with it. Now it works great.
