It's amazing what a giddy field day you are all having over a barely no name B list celeb. Butwhen the Potus gets his schlong examined in the Oral Orfice by an intern well that is no big deal cuz eveveryone lies about sex. And where was the outrage over his marital vows? Uh huh. In 1995 I was 10... The Potus getting his schlong examined was really not on my radar!

No outrage if you don't act holier than thou and make "family values" or "gays are icky" your meal ticket. If, for example, it came out that John McCain was a serial cheater, I'd be pretty meh about it because the sanctity of marriage isn't what he's known for espousing. Rick Santorum getting busted? Total hypocrisy field day. And 100% that! A Pastor telling people gays are sinners and going to hell but caught sleeping with a man: story. NY mayor wife used to be a lesbian: who cares, she never said she had an issue with gays and owned it from the get go. A NY prosecutor caught with prostitutes when he is known for prosecuting them: story. It comes out Donald Trump hired prostitutes : meh! No one will bat an eye.

People marry for all sorts of reasons. I FIRMLY believe that Hillary has remained married to Bill, not because of love, but because of other reasons, like her career. Maybe they make great partners, but don't do monogamy well. We also aren't privy to what Bill and Hillary decided *THEIR* marriage would look like. I'm sure Hillary knew he dallied before they got married, or shortly there after. They weren't part of a tv show for everyone to watch, either. Again, if you want privacy, don't put yourself out in media. It's really easy. I want privacy. The only place I'm active online, really, is here. I'm not even on Facebook. I can only be "found" through work, and that's not much. That's it. I still continue to live and breathe, so clearly it's ok not to have yourself out there in social media.. I've largely stayed out of these threads, because I'm finding them to be uncomfortable for me to read and some of the suppositions in the thread are just plain wrong. It's pretty easy just to move on....

I think they are both disgusting. But Clinton wasn't on tv all of the time blasting gays for ruining the sanctity of marriage. I'm pretty sure that the gays having the right to marry is not was ruined the sanctity of Josh's marriage.
And I'm obviously no liberal taking joy in a republican getting busted for hypocrisy (come on, we all know the libs love that!lol). But I do see a huge difference between Clinton and Duggar. If you are going to make it your crusade to be a holier than thou person you had better actually BE holier than thou! Clinton was just a douche he cheated on his spouse. No different than nearly half the population.

I hope my children have the freedom to believe what they want to believe, and create a "good" life around it. I define "good" as them being happy, and no one else gets hurt. I think if Josh were born to a normal family, he would have just gone to college, slept around, caught a disease, got treatment, grew up, and was eventually pressured into marriage by his girlfriend, and live ever after. You know - just like the rest of us.

I've dealt with the kids of an Amish family. Same idea. It's not pretty. Mom is basically relegated to a life of welfare or menial labor. She can cook, sew, garden, and do childcare like nobody's business, but none of which pay very well. She can probably break horses, shear sheep, milk cows, and field dress a deer too, but those aren't really career options. Instead of the word "Amish", you can substitute the name of pretty much any fundamentalist religion - Christian, Jewish, Islam - and the description is the same. Why do so many of the fundamentalist religions require the utter subjugation of women? And in this day and age, why is this not a hot topic similar to how Apartheid was a few decades ago? Good questions. I was wondering about this also. Born and raised a Reform Jew, but I do have both Conservative and Orthodox relatives. One of them, a cousin of mine, married into an ultra-Orthodox Hasidic family. She spent six months in the marriage. She alternated between being completely ignored by her yeshiva-attending husband and being yelled at by his family, demanding to know why she wasn't getting pregnant (!). She obtained a civil divorce, but it took years to obtain a get, which is a religious divorce from a rabbi. Back then, it was nearly impossible for a woman to obtain such a document; men had it much easier. I suspect the subjugation issue plays a large part in keeping the religion going. If you allow too much freedom, too many questions get asked. Too many questions leads to change. Change does not bode well for these groups; their ways of life are rooted in very old traditions. You question what makes up the foundation, and you might as well take a hammer to that foundation. Never mind that questions and change could make things better. It's that big unknown, plus the loss of power and authority for those in charge, that make it so difficult.

[[[ If it were me, I'd divorce his lying, cheating ass. But she probably won't because she doesn't work (and never has?), and may not have the smarts or the means to make her own way in the world. And she will probably be coerced or pressured by the fundies in her life to "forgive" him. Blarg ]]] With four little kids, I agree with you...even if she had worked, she'd have to find a way to do so and have child care. Her parents live somewhere in a double-wide in Florida, if I recall correctly, so there's likely neither space nor money from them. I don't believe there is a precedent for this in their sect, unless a person leaves altogether. Being divorced and remaining in Quiverfull is apparently not possible; divorce results in excommunication. Interesting, do you have a link or reference? I was curious exactly what their beliefs and ideas are.

I was in grade school when Bill was getting it on in the oval office. So I am not sure I would have been capable of expressing a real opinion on the subject. Also as everyone has said Bill didn't run on a platform based on the sanctity of marriage and how other people shouldn't be allowed to do so b/c they are a bunch of degenerate potential child molesters. You want to throw around those kinds of accusations about other people you better not be hiding the exact same skeleton in your own closet. As far as teh sanctity of marriage what Bill and Hillary decided between them is their business, obviously for Hillary and Bill it worked better for them to stay married. If Hillary had chosen to leave him she would have been just fine, she has a life/career/money of her own. Whether or not Josh and Anna stay married is up to them as well. It wll work better for his public image if they stay married. Anna doesn't really seem to HAVE a choice in the matter unless she wants to leave behind her entire world. Not many people are strong enough to do that.

And 20 years from now one of his daughters comes forward about being abused as a child. I've never watched the show, but this is one sick man and I feel sorry for Anna. I agree somehow she will feel that she is to blame. And she's going to continue to have miserable sex as well. Because a wife doesn't do THOSE things. A wife is for having children, not fun.

Same reason that Miley Cyrus getting pregnant would not be a story. Bristol Palin, however, advocate for birth control every single time or complete abstinence, who made close to a million dollar$ preaching how single young women shouldn't have sex, getting knocked up, again, is a story. It's called hypocrisy.

But weltz so she preached birth control or abstinence "In 2009, she told Good Morning America, “regardless of what I did personally, I just think that abstinence is the only … 100 percent foolproof way to prevent pregnancy,” and promised a magazine in that year, “I’m not going to have sex until I’m married: I can guarantee it.” And when Palin made an appearance with the head of the Candie’s Foundation on Greta Van Susteren‘s On The Record in 2010, Van Susteren introduced her by saying, “”Bristol is promoting abstinence for the Candie’s Foundation.” What’s more, her listing on the webpage for the Single Source Speakers Agency lists “abstinence” as the very first topic of her expertise." radaronline.com/celebrity-news/bristol-palin-paid-abstinence-speeches/

Even Oprah told her it was a bad idea www.ibtimes.com/how-much-money-did-bristol-palin-earn-abstinence-speeches-sarah-palins-daughter-1985992"Oprah Winfrey encouraged the daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to retract her statement. "Why set yourself up that way? It may be 10 years before you get married. Why set yourself up so that everybody you go out with, you date -- the media is going to be looking at that person, trying to get that person to sell you out, to say, 'Did you have sex or not,' " Winfrey said, according to ABC News. "It's nobody's business when you chose to have sex." But, at the time, Palin said it was “realistic” for her.

Pepsi realizes sometimes you will drink milk or beer or water or tea. That's OK. But Bristol Palin is not being paid to say "I am abstinent sometimes, and you should be abstinent sometimes too".
