Fox Channel Blurs Out Breasts on Picasso Painting The Women of Algiers (Version “O”), a painting by Pablo Picasso, became the most expensive work to ever sell at an auction this week. Sadly, some TV viewers of a New York affiliate of Fox were treated to a blurry, G-rated version. The painting, which sold for $179.4 million at Christie’s auction house in New York on Monday night, shows several female figures in the Cubist style, including several pairs of breasts and a couple of errant nipples. Fox 5, the Fox affiliate in New York City, obscured three pairs of breasts and covered up two nipples with a news banner at the bottom of the screen. A man pauses to look at Picasso’s “Women of Algiers (Version ‘O’)” at a media preview for a Christie’s art sale in New York on May 1, 2015. The decision by Fox 5 to blur part of the female anatomy was blasted by Jerry Saltz, senior art critic for New York magazine, who took to Twitter on Wednesday night. “How sexually sick are conservatives & Fox News? They blurred parts of the Picasso painting,” he tweeted, adding the hashtag #SickMinds. Rest of article below. Fox Channel Blurs Out Breasts on Picasso Painting
Hopefully, Fox never shows a picture of the Venus De Milo. Not only does she have exposed breasts but she is also a double amputee. Too much to 'bare' for a Fox audience.

i am starting to think they should be boycotted. Never happen. They have a huge cable following. A lot of their viewers will have young children in the room when the news is on. They probably prefer their "in house" viewing to be "G" rated. Old world nudity, is still nudity.

In response to the ridicule on Twitter, the channel showed the full, unblurred version."

I've also thought Picasso's work was weird and goofy, but that's my preference. I wouldn't give $10 for that painting.

... A lot of their viewers will have young children in the room when the news is on. ... Most young children have seen them already: Not sure why it is necessary to make them something that needs to be hidden.

There are still places in this country were the community is not raising the child. The parents still are. That's a beautiful human interest picture.

That small group of prudes as you say, seems to have a majority.

We over sexualize some female body parts, don't we.
Breasts are nice and all that, but their main function is to feed the next generation in their first nine months of life.
Women are so lucky...that must be a huge bonding experience.

Are the people uncomfortable with their deteriorating bodies and looks, and shame the better physical specimens ? Or do they think they look bad because they were shamed by the better lookers ?. Then pass it on to their kids either way.

Let's stay on the subject track. We are discussing breasts painted by Picasso. Cubist breasts to be exact.
That some would find Cubist breasts overly sexualized and not for children to see makes me wonder about some parents.

I don't wonder at all, everybody has their own acceptance level with perceived sexual content on display. In the Muslim culture, the females cover their entire bodies when in public. In African areas, the women go topless like the men. We seem to be somewhere in the middle.

I forgot-Middle Easterners never go to the world's art museums where breasts and other bared parts of the human anatomy are represented in paintings and statues.

Acceptance level will dictate the visitation to a museum. The FOX affiliate employee was simply trying to adjust the content for his percieved taste of the target audience. Some one overrode his decision in higher up management. No different than the liberal networks changing what picture they were using of Treyvon Martin when the age difference started making the rounds. Big whoop.
