I did watch the ESPN/ABC the other day on Renee Richards. Mainly just curious as to how her life went since it was so long ago and dropped out of the news after a while. Lots of info in the show. But what struck me odd and I know it is probably just me - but she looked like an "old" Bruce Jenner. The "resemblence" seemed uncanny to me. Didn't know she had a son either - remember you kiddos this was before the days of internet and non stop ongoing reporting everytime someone farts But it was interesting to hear her tell of everything she went thru and to hear her son's side.

Nope. But I remember when Renee Richards was transgender so Bruce was no biggie. Exactly. I wish Jenner well in the journey. But the manner of going public still smacks of a Kardashian plot somewhere. All the drama, and all the pre-interview hype tells me that his ex wife Kris is making bank on this somehow; probably including a clip of it in a KUWTK episode. That family can and will make money on anything; and who knows? Bruce may have given it his blessing, maybe as payback for thinking he's cast them in a negative light. I know two transgender individuals, both male to female. And from what I've learned, it is downright hellish to live each day, knowing your soul belongs in another physical place. I don't begrudge Jenner the transition; only the hype. I've watched the Kardashians with my daughter. They do make a lot of money for doing very little of what we consider work, but I don't really get why that alone makes them horrible people. Well, I do get why Kris is a horrbile person. The way the paparazzi hounds them and with all the scrutiny they get, I don't think Bruce could have kept this quiet if he'd wanted to. I can see him simply wanting to tell his side of the story on this.

Yes. I don't give a crap about the big-assed K girls, but my heart goes out to Bruce. It couldn't have been easy and I wish him all the best.

I was thinking "Wow, women are going to have a new gold standard for ugly." But then I realized I was thinking about Bruce Willis, the movie star. I've never heard of Bruce Jenner.

You don't know of him as athlete & the Gold-Medal Decathlon winner in the '76 Olympics? Or his pic on the Wheaties box (where they feature star athletes)?
He also had gigs as one of the Olympic sports commentators in future Olympic games after that win. As well as that, he had product endorsements, etc.
His fame isn't because he married a K - or this recent step in his life - his fame is due to his own achievements and success as a champion athlete in the sporting world .

Bruce Willis is better looking right now IMO and 59? instead of Bruce Jenner's 65. You need to start glancing at magazine covers while you are in the check out line at the grocery store.

With due respect for your theory, most people can count the number of 1976 Olympic athletes they remember on zero hands. I'm guessing it's probably not the source of his fame.

If it makes you feel any better, I strongly advocated removing the post and reopening the thread, but I was overruled. Not quite sure what this has to do with Bruce Jenner...

You're a mod. You should know better. Perhaps I have too much faith in people. If you want to ream me out, please do so via PM. You can unload anything and everything you want to say to me, and I'll keep it in confidence. I extend the same offer to anyone else reading this. This thread is about Bruce Jenner. Why anybody should care about an ex-athlete's BDD I'm afraid I don't know, but that's what this thread is about.

I can't (and won't) speak for Welts, shooby - but I presume when she said she doesn't give a rat's ass, she was talking about the K women and their notoriety, since the thread wasn't about them - it's about Bruce (or so I thought).
I assumed you started the thread to get a reasonably mature discussion going regarding the interview and the transition that Bruce has embarked on, including the psychological and medical aspects, such as the pre-surgery treatments, and counseling he's currently undergoing prior to the surgeries.
I watched the interview, which is why I responded. And he and Diane did touch on and discussed pretty much all of it - including him feeling that he'd lived a lie most of his life.
The surgery and what he's about to face was addressed in fairly accurate detail - but he did stress that one of the reasons he agreed to the interview in the first place, was in hopes that his journey would help give others like him the courage and support to understand they're not alone.
You stated earlier you know little to nothing about trans-genders or the procedures, so I thought you were interested in learning something.
You haven't provided any feedback on the topic - or the interview, so I assume you must not have paid too much attention to the show - or only tuned in to see how he currently looks - since in the build-ups to the show, they mostly showed him in silhouette.
You've dodged any questions about your opinion regarding his transition, and instead tried to change the subject around to the so-called "celebrity fame" of the K women.
I'm glad to see that most here are discussing the actual topic maturely. Um, i brought up his fame because of the whole 'Why does anyone care" type comments which seem to be endemic here how people come on to threads they don't care about to post about why they don't care, lol. So, i was trying to answer the uncaring questions about why does anyone care because i don't see anyone really interested in having a discussion because, well they don't CARE.

You started the thread and titled it "Bruce Jenner Interview". I had presumed that would be what you were interested in discussing - the actual interview - and Bruce.
As for Bruce's FAME, he earned his fame by winning the Olympic Gold Medal - long before he ever got mixed up with the K family.
What I don't give 2 plug nickels about, is all the trash-rag hype, TV entertainment show coverage (ET, Insider, The Talk, etc) all gossiping about it.
He did the interview to tell HIS story and clear the air - probably hoping all te rumors and innuendo would die down a bit and leave him in peace.
I came to the thread, because you asked ONE question: "Did Anybody Watch?"
You also said you didn't know anything about trans-gender or what's involved with his treatments. I thought you might gain some enlightenment.
I do care that he can find some peace when all is said and done, and hopefully his interview will help others who are struggling with their identity.
What I could care less about is the rest of the plasticized K women.

But I'll provide one since you went to the trouble of tagging me.
His name is Bruce and he is still a male. He said as much in the interview. What name he may or may not go by in the future is his business, and his alone.
I hardly see that as an "important issue".

wow. That's all I've got to keep the thread alive. SL has piqued my interest. If you've got something better, ask it. Is there an accepted female equivalent of "Bruce"? Is he going to keep calling himself "Bruce"? Does he just pick whatever name he feels like? ETA: Never mind. SL got it.

Why would he need to choose a feminine name that's similar to his current one?
And again, isn't that HIS business? He may want a name completely unlike his current one, so he can let go of his past life and move forward with his new identity once the transition is complete.
If your post was an attempt at sarcasm or humor, it was an epic fail.
And I don't think his situation should be fodder for jokes.

I don't think ANY thread should be fodder for your stalking of Shooby. You, almost singlehandedly, ruin more threads on this board with your need to pop in and make some comment on her every post. It's beyond tiresome. Please refrain from complaining about the sticks in my (or another's) backyard when yours is the messiest (almost) of all. Thank you. Perhaps humor isn't appropriate here, but it's far less tiresome and way more entertaining than your 9000 posts about how Shooby just needs to be enlightened and it is your mission to do so.

Why would he need to choose a feminine name that's similar to his current one? Why does he need to change his name at all? Why is he throwing away a perfectly healthy body for one riddled with scars, trauma, implants, and drugs? We're not going to get anywhere if we assume any of this is rational.
