Nope. But I remember when Renee Richards was transgender so Bruce was no biggie.

no, but I've seen clips and read various links since the interview aired. I think I got the gist of it all. did you have another question, or just taking a poll as to who watched?

I watched it.
I have no personal opinion on what he's decided to do - it's his life, and he seems to at peace with his decision.
He felt he'd been living a lie for almost his entire life.
What I don't agree with is the publicity behind it. You'd think that a person about to make such a personal life-changing decision would do just that - keep it personal - and private.
He seemed nervous and uncomfortable in the interview - and it was almost like he did the interview to debut his new look more than anything (which is still a work in progress).
He nervously dodged most of the questions asked by Diane.
One can only wish him well, and hope that when all is said & done, he can be at peace with himself.

I think he is far better to go public. Papparazzi has been chasing him night and day. Just put it out there. The rumors and innuendo are usually far more sensational than the truth.

OK, I agree with you...did he come out as transgender...you know, a female who is trapped in a male body...will he get rid of his penis?

No. Might have been interested in it if he wasn't tainted by the Kardashian association. I can't even express how unpleasant I find that entire family of female piranhas.

I don't think he addressed how far he was going to go with surgery.

Subjects like this are as attractive to watch as "The Real Housewifes of New Jersey" Why is his personal life so interesting? Or his personal choices for that matter? Do his choices affect the American public at large or the state of our affairs or our foreign policy? I believe not so is best if we let the man/woman be!

People are fascinated by the Kardashians. So what? And most people don't know someone who has surgically trabsgendered.

I think I will have more fun knowing just the basics about this story. If I find out any more, I might have to think too hard. This type of information is like candy. I love a little, but too much makes me feel oogy.
ETA: **"Information" relates to celebrity gossip, not transgender issues.

I don't think he addressed how far he was going to go with surgery. Actually, he did - and it's not something that one usually goes into lightly and then only does half-way. It also is a long process involving several procedures and surgeries - it may be a year or two before his full transition is complete.
As for his genitalia, he also addressed that question in the inteview - and said he'll be keeping his penis - "for now".
Along with the surgeries, there's a lot of psychological counseling involved (which he's gone through for the last few years now) so that decision will likely be the last - and even then he may decide to keep his genitalia intact.
He also told Diane that he's still interested in women.
You no doubt find this as "icky" as you do old-people sex - but what he's doing is nothing new or shocking - others have made the transition before him.

I thought posters weren't supposed to drag things from other threads. Guess that does not apply to you.

Wasn't it you who dragged the baking of gay wedding cakes into a few threads?
I'm not quoting text from other threads here, and I was addressing the thread topic regarding his transition & surgeries.
You were the one who asked how far he was going to go with the transition. I answered, and provided information and a link.

I didn't watch it but I might as well have. DD kept texting and calling me as she watched it. DD is kind of close-minded in some ways, and watching his interview made her feel some compassion for him. She thought it was really sad that he's lived most of his life feeling like he was living a lie and she thinks he should be able to be himself. So, if his interview helped people like my daughter be a little more open minded and better understand what this means to the people that are living it, I think he did a good thing sharing his story.

It isn't. She also dragged the bakery/gay wedding cake into the Huckabee Lies thread in (Religious Discussion).
I addressed the topic, provided info & a link for Shooby since she apparently didn't understand much about gender transition surgery & procedures or the emotional/psychological impact and extensive counseling that goes along with the transition - usually well in advance of the final decision.
I only mentioned her ick factor since she seems to find topics such as this, gay marriage, and sex among seniors distasteful - or in her words, "icky" or "double-icky".

I separated your two comments that don't have anything to do with each other. sorry, I left your own typo. can I ask what your second comment has to do with anything? you didn't answer my first question in this thread, I'm not holding my breath. just curious.

I watched it. I like Bruce, he seems like a nice guy who was beaten down by that clan for a lot of years.
I am rooting for him. And I hope that his story gives courage to those going through something similar and understanding to those who make assumptions and are close-minded.
*I use he/him/his since Bruce said in the interview that it was fine to use those familiar pronouns.

They created a billion dollar industry on being famous for being famous. Seems to work for them. As for Bruce, he seems like a good guy so I hope it works out for him.

A lot of people are famous. And your point is??
It doesn't mean one should give a horse's rear what they do.
Bruce won his fame on his own - first as a Gold Medalist Olympian, and then doing commercials and endorsements, as well as a network sports commentator - long before he married into the family and became part of the K side-show.
The K clan are only famous for being famous because they put their lives on display when they had their reality show. And Bruce was already in the picture by then.
(He'd had a previous marriage).
If it weren't for that show, I doubt I would have ever known the Kardashians even exist.
I probably wouldn't have even known about the "Keeping up With..." show either except someone started a thread about it right on this board a year or two ago.
But then, I don't waste time watching any of those ((cough, cough)) "reality" shows or read gossip mags.
I can only wish him well - whatever his future holds for him.

At the risk of actually staying on topic rather than infantile stalking.....I hope that he finds peace with his decisions. I can't even imagine living as one gender and actually feeling I am another. I don't suppose anybody who isn't living it can imagine it. I didn't watch the interview, tho. I guess I didn't even know it was on. I would imagine it was tasteful and I guess I don't blame him for actually giving an interview. Maybe it will stop some of the speculation and gossip. Sometimes, it seems to be better to just put it all out there rather than making people guess.

Nope. But I remember when Renee Richards was transgender so Bruce was no biggie. Exactly. I wish Jenner well in the journey. But the manner of going public still smacks of a Kardashian plot somewhere. All the drama, and all the pre-interview hype tells me that his ex wife Kris is making bank on this somehow; probably including a clip of it in a KUWTK episode. That family can and will make money on anything; and who knows? Bruce may have given it his blessing, maybe as payback for thinking he's cast them in a negative light. I know two transgender individuals, both male to female. And from what I've learned, it is downright hellish to live each day, knowing your soul belongs in another physical place. I don't begrudge Jenner the transition; only the hype.
