Arrest records as well as marriage and divorce records are on the county/state websites. You'd be surprised at how much of your business is online. but how do you know if you got the right person without their sis number? A lot of people have the same first and last name. I'm sure if you searched hard, you could find a marriage certificate with my name on it, but it really wouldn't be me, just someone with the same name. That's true. You may be able to find 3 John Doe's that got divorced last fall if you look something up. But if someone is telling you the truth, their information will match what you find out there.

After reading some of this about pics on FB, I realized that there are 3 pics of me and my ex together from 5 years ago on there. I suppose I'll be deleting them. LOL

I don't know... I'm kinda on the fence about deleting pics of my ex and I off Facebook. I mean he was a big part of my life for a long time, plus he's the father of my child. And I don't hate him. Besides, we haven't been pictured together in like 2 years. Meh.

Although she and I barely speak, we maintain civility because of our son. So I wasn't really thinking about it much. And like I say, the pics are old anyway.

LOL I think pics from 5 years ago aren't that big of a deal. You have a history together & anyone dating you should understand that you have a past. Where you will start to have problems is if you posted some pics together last month, but are telling dates you haven't hung out in years.

I'm not taking pics off of Facebook. Of course, I'm not dating either, so it's kind of moot.

I didn't read all the pages but overall, I would say men. From my generation the men do the asking out. Now, women can ask. I'm way out of the dating loop.
My grandkids don't date. I don't know what they call it.

I deleted pics of a college boyfriend and me a year or two ago. Only to find at least two other friends had some of the same pictures on their accounts. I let it go after that. They are all old at this point.

If someone wanted to stalk me, they'd be inundated with info. It's not hard to do. Give me a phone number and I can come back with whose it is, where they live, any arrest records, number of kids...grandkids. Not that I would do that...cuz that would be creepy...so...just talking hypothetical here.

I'm in the don't delete pictures camp. But I love photography and like having a photo history.

Because it is basically a blind date. All you are going off of is what they've chosen to post on the dating site & shared. You don't yet know if they are a crazy psycho & you don't want to give them the ability to stalk, harass, or anything else before you get to know them a little better.
I honestly didn't feel 100% confident in the guy I am dating until I saw his place & met his kids. Before then there is always the thought in the back of your mind that maybe he is married, maybe he is lying about his job, having kids, or whatever. He seemed like a great guy, but I don't really trust my instincts because they haven't worked well for me in the past so I've gotten paranoid.
Ah, yes thanks for the confirmation.
I left the dating world just as the internet was warming up. Back in the day it was simpler.
Yeah, even blind dates would have been easier back then. At least then most of the time the date was a friend of a friend type thing, so there was at least some confirmation of their back story & knowledge of their character.
It's weird to think, but you realize you know nothing about these people other than what they have put out there. For all you know they could just be playing some character & making up their name & entire story. I'm sure most aren't like that, but it would suck to end up dating the guy that was.
My BF had done the online thing a lot longer & had some stories. I know one girl had sent him tons of pics & she was cute. Then he met her & she weighed twice as much as she had when the pictures had been taken. Then she was angry & accused him of being judgemental when he said it wasn't going to work. Maybe if you hadn't presented yourself as someone you weren't . Then he said he has gotten several scam responses. He was getting messages from 18-22 year old that were gorgeous & wanted to get to know him better. Given that he is late 30's with 3 kids, he was pretty sure they were not legit. But, maybe he made the mistake of passing up gorgeous women that were into him, LOL. Then he got stuck with me

yeah, I never understood why people catfish (pretend to be a completely different person). It takes a lot of effort! Also, you don't know what people like, so why pretend that you look different? There are plenty of guys that like BBWs.

Big beautiful woman. Usually characterizing those that are medically obese, not just those that "have some meat/curves"

Ah. I only know the few I've seen labeling themselves that are definitely not like her.
Google search runs the gamut but at least half would fit the very obese part. Some of the images I wouldn't label her as big.

this is what I've learned from online profiles: athletic = athletic to average average = a little chubby a few extra pounds = fat I listed myself as average and got told LOTS of times to change it to athletic/slim. IDK, I just don't see myself as slim/athletic.

IDK, I just don't see myself as slim/athletic. I think those definitions are pretty accurate, especially for men. I have found if you indicate that you don't mind a guy with a few extra pounds that you get men who need to lose a few hundred pounds. I do think women tend to be more honest about their weight online than men. Or at least I think there are perhaps more terms like BBW for women.

I think the key is to not want to date! My STBX told me he wanted a divorce in November (on our 20th anniversary!)...I clearly hated men at that moment..who knew that hating men was the key to getting attention from men??lol A week and a half after the "I have a date and it's not with you" conversation (yes, that is seriously how it went!) I went to my 20th reunion. A guy from high school that I don't remember at ALL found out I was getting a divorce and proceeded to tell me what a huge crush he had on me in high school, blah blah blah. I had many martinis by then and my reply was "I hate men"...lol 2 months later I agreed to go on a date with him and we have been dating since. He called and texted me a lot in between but I just wasnt' ready to date I also went on a few other dates and pretty much hated them. One guy yammered on about capitalists and how union was the only way to go...and he was a set up by a friend who clearly doesn't know me as well as she thinks she does!lol
I have never done internet dating and I don't think I will. But I guess I can't say for sure. Being single is new for me so I am learning as I go.

I have seen Jen and she is very skinny but she doesn't see it (and smoking hot, too!). Counter that with a guy with a beer gut who plays softball one day a week...he claims to be athletic!lol

That must have been an incredibly hard situation to deal with, especially over the holidays. I wish you well for the future and, if my math is correct, you can't even be 40 yet if you just attended your 20th high school reunion. Plenty of time to date and have fun!

Maybe I need to get divorced in order to find guys to date....Now I just need to figure out who to get married to to test this theory.

Oops...It was my 20th wedding anniversary but 25th high school reunion. I must have screwed the two up It was hard for about 4 days. Then I realized he is a douche and I can do better. I made a plan, got a house and moved on with my life. I'm not one for pity parties. The hardest part is the kids. I feel bad for them. He doesn't much want to be a father anymore, either. He must be having one hell of a mid life crisis!

It's interesting that women with kids seem to be a turn off b/c whenever DH out and about with the kids he has women swarm all over him. He said he would have babysat his nephews more often if he'd known babies were such chick magnets. Even happens to my dad! I ran into my parents at the Farmer's Market and had Gwen with me. She was about 4 months old at the time. My dad volunteered to hold her while I got out my billfold. This huge swarm of women came down upon him cooing over his new baby. He turned beet red and muttered it was not his baby, it was mine and handed her off to me like a hot potato. I told him he should be flattered that he apparently looks young enough to be a new daddy.
