I agree. If I can recall what grade I was in when that fad first made it's appearance it's probably not one I should adopt as an adult. I was a young adult when a lot of the fads that are recycling now were in the first time. I'm really feeling my age these days. I saw a girl on Halloween in a pair of really loud 80's style leggings and my first thought was it was her Halloween costume. Then I realized that it was her everyday wear and what is "in style" right now. Needless to say it looked better in the late 80's than it does they way they wear them now IMO. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/tongue.png)

High waisted pants. .. in color. The second paid is even worse high waisted CROPED pants.
I don't get the fascination. They don't look good on anybody. Celebrities can pull them off because they are rich and can pay magazines to tell everyone how good they look. You're average woman. .. not so much.

Those are going to make even skinny girls look fat! That is a trend that needs to stay dead.

I'm with you. I wear variations of that daily, I call it my uniform. On the weekends I wear jeans and for work I wear dress pants. But it's typically some sort of tank with a cardigan. Now most of my cardigans are longer and some are shawl collar or cocoon style but still, I've been wearing that general look for years.

LOL This thread is funny to me.
I'm tall with a long torso, so longer tops and sweaters fit me where a regular cardi would fit most people.
Some stuff, like baby doll tops, look cute on me because I'm small up top, but I'm way too old for it now, so I don't wear them. Good riddance.

And that is the difference we have been talking about. Well I think if you stay simple, your stuff can last longer. I'm sure I have tanks more than 5 years old that don't look out of style under a cardigan. Same with jeans, they're just bootcut, they could be from yesterday or 5 years ago. The way clothes are made now though, and since I do shop at places like Old Navy, lucky for me most of it disintegrates before 5 years anyway ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/wink.png)

I'm actually going to go buy a pair of loud looking "leggings" today. But they are for running. I've been running right at 5pm (2 days a week) and it is freezing here. So I don't want anything black, because I don't want to increase my chances of getting run over. So crazy/funky it is. But just for running. ![](http://assets.academy.com/mgen/88/10404688.jpg?is=500,500)

One of our engineers showed up to work with zebra striped leggings yesterday. I felt like I was at an Aerosmith concert.

Looks like ol' Johnny boy did the infinity scarf trend back in the day as well as the zebra spandex.

I have high waisted skinny jeans. They are awesome eating pants. I eat too much and everything stays in place. :-) I wear long tanks so no one ever really know what my jeans rise is anyway.

If you run in a downtown setting, those tights in the picture would be very visible. But if you're running in a setting with grass, bushes, trees, etc, those don't look much better than running in camo.
I know, they're blue not green, but in low light (dawn or dusk) it's tough for the eye to distinguish blue and green and those irregular color swatches will work just like the irregular swatches on camo do to fool the eye.
They're cute, but not what I'd wear if I wanted to be visible. (Not trying to pick on you, just don't want you smushed.)

You're right, that link shows mostly dark, non-reflective colors darn it.
Do you at least have a top that's brightly colored or has some reflective stuff on it?

I'm going to see what they have in the store. I have a hot pink fleece sweatshirt, but I was hoping to buy something a little more training like at lunch today.

It's probably going to look pretty tacky, but if the object is safety at the lowest cost and those tights are your only choice.... then get some reflective tape and at least add big strips of it to:
- The back of your top - At least 2-3 places along the tights - As much as you can get on your running shoes (the flash of the shoe when running might be the only thing a car sees)

You know what irks me, I have a family member who will say, ohhh I love that, can I have it!? She has even rifled through my jewlery before asking if she could have stuff!!! Uh no bitch I bought that because I wanted it, not because I thought you would want it ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/angry.png) LOL! My grandmother used to do that - Lo, those many years ago! She didn't outright ask if she could have things, though. She'd just comment on how lovely whatever it was I had that she liked and give me big, puppy dog eyes. She did the same thing to my mother. We knew whatever it was would be hers when she left for home. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/tongue.png) Well, she's not my grandma and we are right around the same age. She also looked in DH undie drawer, I thought DH was going to strangle her ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/shocked.gif)

You can't go wrong with Adventure Time leggings: ![](http://ii.wbshop.com/fcgi-bin/iipsrv.fcgi?FIF=/images/warnerbros//source/warnerbros/atugleg02.tif&wid=3000&cvt=jpeg) (I bought some for derby ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/grin.png) )

What I've noticed is that people frequently make Bluester's remark when they don't like the scarf or whatever.
I read somewhere that we compliment women way too much on the way that look as if that is their most important attribute. Sure, if you make it a habit to comment on what the guys in your group wear, then do it. But if not, why single out the women?
It has been hard, but I've made a conscious effort not to do this with my girl students. I do have a habit of complimenting people on things that aren't really my thing, not to say I don't like it, just wouldn't like it for myself. For instance, a lot of handmade things, costume jewelry, bold hairstyles, make-up, pretty much anything nerd or hipster themed. If I can tell something is new, required effort, or is very "them" I like to acknowledge it. I'll compliment guys when I can tell they are making an effort, but that is rare. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/tongue2.png)
