I pop in to look at the kitties on the petco webcam from time to time. Lately I haven't been seeing any, hopefully that means that they are finding forever homes. The link is at the top of page 13.

June 1 .... a new week, a new month, and a new year of pursuing health-enhancing behaviors!
This morning, I went for my Monday Torture Session workout with my personal trainer .... ouch. I didn't even know I had muscles in my butt ... but now they hurt. It hurts to sit, and it hurts to un-sit. (OK, I guess the phrase I'm looking for is "getting off my butt after sitting") So, since my butt was already mad at me, I decided to bike 14 miles today, despite the fact that it's a gazillion degrees out there. OK, maybe not a gazillion ... but it's in the 90s. Still, a marked "cool down" from the 102 we saw on Saturday and Sunday. Anyway, I get to go back for another Torture Session / workout on Wednesday morning. Yay. And, just think, I actually pay a lot of money for this.
I went for my annual eye doc appt last week and, apparently, the optic nerve in one of my eyes looks "problematic" ... so they are suspecting glaucoma. When I looked alarmed at that possibility, they were quick to assure me it could also be a tumor. Oh yeah, I feel soooo much better now <snort> Anyway, I return on the 18th for "2 hours" of testing for glaucoma. (It takes 2 hours!? Sheesh!) My prescription did change, so I've got two pair of new glasses on order (not from the eye doc place ... I made that mistake last year at the prices were ridiculous!) One pair are wire-rimmed (much like my current pair) and the other pair are turquoise.

We got up early today to try to beat the heat and ride our bikes. (It was still pretty warm.) I am glad I was biking WITH my wonderful DH since we were in one "sketchy" neighborhood (known for crime) and three rather scruffy-looking persons on bikes started following us and calling for us to give them money. We quickly turned a corner and pedaled away ZIPPY FAST and left them behind ... but, EEEEK. We've decided NOT to go past a certain major street in the future ~ not even on a Sunday morning. (My heart is still pounding thinking about this!) Then, a few miles later, some woman screamed at me as she speeded by in her raised pickup truck about my being in the road (I was completely legal where I was biking, she just seemed annoyed that there were cyclists in her way) ... and that rattled me. Needless to say, these sorts of biking adventures are ones I can do without ... AAAUGGH! I was a hot, sweaty mess when I got home, so it was nice to grab breakfast, cool down, and then take a shower. And my friends wonder why I'm not biking as much these days .... (you'd think the crappy air quality and 100+ degree weather would give them a clue, not to mention the wee crime problem we seem to be having)

That must have been scary as heck! It's a shame there isn't a bike path, or something, near you. We have them around here but I'm sure they're not convenient for everyone.  |

Bike or jogging paths are not always the answer. We do have them both in the city & my suburban area. However, there have been attacks on lone women especially all over. Pretty much a daily blurb on the news somewhere in the area.
