I'm thinking that I'm going to start having my biggest meals before 2pm, so a big breakfast and a big lunch. Sugi, that's what I've been doing - having a filling breakfast, then a light mid-morning snack, and early dinner - nothing heavy after 5 pm.I want to have a homemade soup for dinner at around 4 to 5 pm, then nothing else but water.

It's kind of pathetic that I keep checking the kitten cam. Every time I have the cats have all been asleep. If I want to look at sleeping cats I have plenty of them strewn about the house. They're going to start getting jealous that I'm looking at sleeping cats elsewhere.

Sugi, that's what I've been doing - having a filling breakfast, then a light mid-morning snack, and early dinner - nothing heavy after 5 pm.I like this idea and have tried it, but hen I wake up in the morning I am very rarely hungry and usually nauseous. It takes a good 3-4 hours before I feel like eating without hurling. My sister was telling me about this one diet he was on to get rid of baby weight. SHe ate every 2 hours, just a little. It kind of made sense to me, so I tried it. On the second day, when I was trying to eat some yogurt at 6 am and gagging, and trying to et again at 8 and still gagging, I tossed the idea. Optimally, I'd eat a large breakfast around 11 and dinner between 5-6 and I'd be good. I really don't eat after dinner.

I eat breakfast at 9:30, lunch at 1:30, dinner at 5:30 and a bedtime snack at 10:30. Every night, for the most part. I'm diabetic, and one of the ways that I help manage my blood sugars is by eating (and testing) on a schedule.
When it comes to finding what works for you ... there is no one-size-fits-all answer. There is nothing inherently magical ~ or wrong ~ about eating at a certain time of the day.

Today marks 8.5 months of prioritizing my health.... my goal last June when I started was to be healthier at age 50 than I was at age 49. I'm pretty excited about how much I've accomplished! I've been off insulin for 3.25 months! And there's still one more month to go until my 50th birthday! We biked 8.5 miles today ~ including stops at Orchard Supply Hardware, Whole Foods and Bath & Body Works ... doing errands on a bicycle is fun!

That's outstanding, molly! It must be wonderful for you to realize you don't have to dose yourself with insulin anymore. I've had patients literally dance for joy when they got to that point. It's a real accomplishment!

A number of years ago I seen this documentary on how much you could change yourself with food and exercise. I can't remember the name of that documentary anymore, but the message stayed clearly with me, it can be done !

I have vanquished many of the weeds in my yard ~ and I feel accomplished. All sorts of muscles I don't normally use are now letting me know their unhappiness with my decision to get hot, muddy and sweaty out there ~ but that's what hot tubs are for, right?
Dinner tonight: lemon-herb tofu, teriyaki wasabi mushrooms, baby bok choy, a verrry small serving of vegetarian chow mein noodles from Lassen's, and some zucchini "zoodles." Oh, and I sampled all sorts of yumminess at Lassen's when we were there getting the tofu, mushrooms and chow mein. (It's a great store to visit when you're hungry ... lots of samples!)

I do think the weeds got the "last laugh" ~ my allergies have been on high sneeze alert ever since, and I really strained a lot of muscles with all that bending and getting up ..... OUCH! ( And, of course, it's different muscles from the ones I use/strengthen while biking!) Ahhh.... isn't nature fun? (::: scratching my skeeter bites and puts cream on my sunburned nose :

I think the rain is done for now ... tomorrow I've got three different at-home appointments (including the DSL repair guy) .... so no biking tomorrow. Maybe Wednesday! I'll fill bird feeders and sweep up blossoms and do some more weeding. Oh, and laundry.

I just checked the kitten cam for the first time in days. Great, now I want to buy my cats a huge exercise/scratching wheel. The huge cat tree, cat boxes and dozens of toys don't clearly state enough that I merely work to be able to satisfy their every little whim.

The kitten cam will be more fun in a month or so when we're overflowing again with kittens! SQUEE! I went shopping today at Whole Foods and picked up mushrooms, jicama, three different colors of baby carrots, some baby potatoes, and then (for lunch) a sushi roll (spicy tuna/avocado on brown rice) and some sunomono (cucumber vinegar salad) and two grilled chicken wings. I had a delightful picnic out front on my sunny porch (I added a few baby tomatoes, some baby carrots, mushrooms and cooked greens)..... I don't usually have rice and potatoes (rice, especially, can spike my blood sugars) ... but I knew I was biking this afternoon. I biked 19.5 miles today! Wooo Hooo! My blood sugars were actually a little low when I got home ... yay! I like that I can have the foods I really like if I plan properly and then bike my butt off! (grin) Well, I haven't biked it completely OFF. <snort> Entertaining scale moment ... I now weigh within 8 or so pounds of what my driver's license says I weigh.... and I completely made up that mythical number about 20 years ago! <grin> Just 20 days until I turn .... 50 years old!

My kids are starting to make pet noises again. I told them no pets until after Disney and we're doing that in April. I'd rather have a dog but I think they're going to want a cat. Or 2. I don't know if I'm ready to be a cat mom again. And I think their expectation of what having a pet cat (or dog) will be like is NOT going to line up to reality. So we're going to have to figure out how to make them realize that the pet may not want to sleep in their beds and/or play dress up with DD's dolls (damn commercials and kid shows)

I've had cats and dogs. I'm a dog person. I'm not opposed to cats, I just hate cleaning the litter boxes. And yes, I know cleaning dog poop isn't fun either. Somehow litter boxes seem worse.

I signed up for a personal trainer today ... 8 sessions just to see how I like it (at a private gym). I need some direction and assistance for strengthening and endurance ... so I'm excited. Tomorrow at 10:30am is my first session. (They are pricey, but at least they offered a cash discount, right?) Anyway, I turn 50 in 2 weeks ... so it's my birthday present!
Lunch today: spicy ranchero egg white salad; steamed spinach/mustard greens/collard greens/turnip greens and snow pea pods; salad: romaine, cucumber, beets, onions, red pepper; and some carrot chips and roasted green beans. (That's 12 different veggies!)

I survived Time #1 with the personal trainer this morning. My wonderful DH tagged along ~ both for moral support and to make sure she wouldn't push me beyond my health limitations. (He's nicely protective) Anyway, I survived. Afterward, he went to work and I went to Trader Joes and then Whole Foods. I celebrated with some sushi for lunch ... yum! And some chicken and some grilled asparagus with mushrooms. And (of course) spinach, mustard greens, collard greens and turnip greens! I then decided to go for a ride ... and ended up biking 17.25 miles this afternoon. I suspect I will be sore tomorrow!

I don't know if I mentioned it, but in the 9 months that I've been working on pursuing health-enhancing behaviors, I've managed to ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... lose over 150 pounds. (Shhhhh! I just wanted to tell someone, ya know?)
