I am not allergic to cats at all ~ which is good, since I not only have a house-full of cats, but I also work full-time for a cat rescue

I biked 5.5 miles today before injuring my knee (pedaling) ... so I sat tight and called my wonderful DH who came to get me. Been icing my knee. I will take at least 3 days off before trying to bike again on Sunday or Monday. (sigh)

Just kidding. Keep icing and keep an eye on it. NSAIDs will help if you can use them, too.

I'm allergic to aspirin, ibuprofen and all nsaids ... so I'm being careful. It's already significantly improved. I "may" try biking Sunday (weather permitting) or Monday when my wonderful DH is off work and can come with me. In the meantime, "kitten therapy!"

Who can't love kitty therapy? We have a daily segment on our Morning News show here Mon-Fri. They showcase/bring into the studio pets that are up for adoption - usually dogs, cats, pups, kittens or other assorted creatures.
Today's adoptable was an adorable white kitten - white with a few pale gray patches and the prettiest green eyes. I wanted to grab it up it so cute - but my "Jake" would probably disapprove. The little thing had 2 sibs also up for adoption. Someone had just dropped-off the 3 kittens and their mother in a box outside the door, instead of taking them right in to the Humane Society. COWARD!

Today's lunch ( since I know you ALL wanted to know this) was cooked southern greens (spinach, mustard greens, collard greens and turnip greens), a lovely salad (cucumber, tomatoes, radishes, garbanzo beans, kidney beans), some roasted delicata squash, two leftover ribs (and they were yummy, thank you very much) and some spicy ranchero egg white salad. I was just at my local grocery store, buying groceries and the cashier spent a lot of time looking at my items, ringing them up, rolling her eyes, and then announced rather loudly. "What ... umm... interesting food choices you seem to be making today." (I am not telling you what I was buying, because what I am buying shouldn't matter to anyone who isn't paying for it, right?) I didn't miss a beat and replied "I think you'd do better with a little less eyeliner." ( She looked shocked and I smiled and replied, "I'm sorry, I though we were exchanging inappropriate personal comments.") I called my husband at work and confessed to being a bit mouthy at the market and there was a pause "You didn't moon anyone in there again, did you?" hahahahahaha! Great husband response for the WIN! (Note: I did moon some jerk in there a few months ago ... but it WASN'T a cashier)In my defense about the mooning incident, it was technically just a partial mooning ( right hip and partial butt) AND I was provoked by someone who said it was " offensive to see women with bare arms" (I was wearing a loose-fitting long sleeved t-shirt with the sleeves pushed up because I was warm.) I just stared at him, and asked " I'm curious, do you find my forearms more offensive than my ass?" (And that's when the mooning occurred... right next to the quinoa.) And who says grocery shopping with PMS can't be fun?

There's a couple of people in there now and the cats are all sleeping. The ones who woke up are like "Come back later humans, and I'll consider entertaining you." If it were dogs the entire place would be rioting.

I got back on the bike today after injuring my knee last Wednesday and biked 27.6 Km today! Yay, me! We stopped about halfway and picnicked/got lunch at one of my fave crunchy stores: Lassens Natural Food Market. I had some cucumber salad, vegan teriyaki drummettes, 1/2 a vegan peanut butter cookie, and some fried rice (the poor guy behind the counter was soooo cute ... "Oh no! It's vegetarian fried rice and NOT vegan ... there's egg in there!" I assured him I wasn't a vegan and he looked greatly relieved, LOL) My wonderful DH graciously finished off the other 1/2 of the cookie and some of the fried rice for me. I can't have rice very often since it's spikes my blood sugars (or cookies, for that matter) ... but I figured if there ever was a day to enjoy both, it was a WINDY day biking over 17 miles up and down hills, right?

I biked 16.1 miles today (that's about 26 Km for anyone using that system!) Yay, me. The weather was delightful ... and the ride was nice even though I did notice a rather weird collection of things along my route in the bike lane (a pair of gold ballet flats, an electric toothbrush, a hammer, and 3/4 of a dishwasher ... just sort of dumped by a field, but in my bike lane). Usually it's just litter ~ but this stuff all caught my attention. (The two shoes ... a pair ... were actually about 200 yards apart)
My blood sugars were below 80 when I got home, so I grabbed a Dannon Light n' Fit Greek Yogurt ... 80 calories of yummy goodness and 9 carbs ... that should be enough to boost me back above 80 and keep me there until suppertime. That was my last one in the fridge, so I will have to restock! I am also down to my last cucumber (cue submarine Klaxon alarm sounds! Dive! Dive!) ~ so will have to go to the grocery store yet again. (The silly thing is that I was AT Trader Joe's this morning ... but they don't have the right kind of cucumbers or the Dannon Light n' Fit Greek Yogurt!)
As an added bonus to my delightful bike ride ... my period decided to arrive rather unexpectedly around mile #9 of my ride ... (sigh) I was 7 miles from home and woefully unprepared, so I just figured I'd power on and deal with changing clothes when I got home. Ahhh... one of the many-splendored joys of pre-menopause .... secret, unannounced arrivals of Aunt Flo! <snort>

Dinner tonight ~ grilled mahi mahi on a bed of baby bok choy, zucchini "zoodles" with sundried tomato and parmesan, an Amy's vegetarian Shepherd's Pie ... yum!
(I did have a salad at lunch, in case anyone is worried that I'm skipping my usual dinner salad ... cucumber, carrots, tomatoes, jicama, kidney beans and garbanzo beans!)

I'm thinking that I'm going to start having my biggest meals before 2pm, so a big breakfast and a big lunch. Sugi, that's what I've been doing - having a filling breakfast, then a light mid-morning snack, and early dinner - nothing heavy after 5 pm.
