He is pretty good. If the make the suspension a year or less, some team will pick him up guaranteed. ETA - the Raiders should pick him up. That shouldn't really hurt their image

He was good but he was already in his 7th season. As a running back that is very close to the end of the line.

Now is that catch like it's contagious or that you'd have to run after it?

Yeah, if he doesn't come back by next year he might be done. Won't be good enough to risk a potential PR nightmare by picking him up.
But, then I was surprised that there was very little backlash when Vick got picked up. I am still angry anyone was willing to take him.

I would also lose my CPA license if convicted of a felony. But being a douche bag without a conviction means I keep my job as long as said douchiness doesn't impact my ability to do my job. The felony arrest can result in disbarment without a conviction, depending on the allegations. I've never looked that closely at what will get my license yanked...I'm not exactly high risk
I do know that one of the partners at my firm was arrested for DUI. She was hired an attorney and was in a panic because if convicted she would have lost her license. She got out of it by proving that the cop targeted the patrons of the bar she left (which I think is bogus...if you are looking for drunks of course you are going to look at people coming out of a bar!)....anyway, getting arrested didn't matter but if she was convicted it would have.

You mean her accounting license? That's a pretty tough punishment for a DUI! Seriously. I think they should make drinking a part of the CPA exam. You can't pass until you finish a 6 pack during the exam.

Anyone read the interview by some football wives? They wanted to stress they weren't golddiggers.

But, then I was surprised that there was very little backlash when Vick got picked up. I am still angry anyone was willing to take him. My initial reaction was outrage as well. however - as a society, accepting restitution and allowing second chances is an important piece. If someone is completely rejected forever we will have a larger recidivism rate and fuller prisons. In the end, I tried to feel better by thinking that maybe he did learn a real lesson (not just show). At the very least - he isn't going to engage in that behavior again while he is in the NFL - and hopefully, never again if for nothing more than a fear of prison. Additionally - if a couple of athletic hopefuls steer away from dog fighting just because of what happened to vick, then maybe the whole thing can be a positive in some way. Yeah, you are probably right. There are just some things I have trouble forgiving & what Vick did falls into that category. It isn't even so much the dog fighting, just dog fighting I could eventually forgive. it was that he tortured dogs...drowning, electrocution, etc. WTF kind of person can do those things? It also didn't help that Vick was literally my favorite player in the league. So somehow that makes it worse.

I havent forgiven Vick. The dogs were completely helpless. At least Mrs Rice has some say over what happens in her life.

This is the fine line we walk. We want to work with people who haven't done anything wrong in their lives. When people get out of jail, they can't get a job anywhere. And then we complain about serial criminals.

Unless you've been there, you won't understand. It's not logical at all. But that's the key - they aren't thinking logically. They've been abused physically and mentally and are not thinking like you would. I was sad to read her statements, but her life has programmed her to believe this is what love is and this is what she deserves.
Its her journey. I don't know her life history so I plan to mostly ignore the coverage and wish the highest and best to her, their kids if any, and him.

Hey now...I said I would hire a wife beater! How about a drunk? Cause I know one of those. Depends. If this was a functioning alcoholic and there was no impact on his/her job then yes. But a lot if times the alcoholics call off a lot more and their job performance suffers.

I was hurt when Marion Jones admitted to doping. I had followed her career for years and was inspired by her. To find out she cheated was more devastating than any other person who had been suspended for it.

They have to be emotionally disturbed or have been. My GF from HS has stayed married to a guy that cheats on her, has had prostitutes, yet she is still there. I wish I could figure it out. Is it the drama for her, is he really a sociopath or narcisist.

Its all about the Benjamin's. but when you see women supporting and still taking abuse from their partners, you really have to wonder. It isn't just football either. Partners wives of the former BIG 8 accounting firms had the same spiel. I'm sure there's plenty of other examples. Women who get divorced from stars get money for the loss of status as in good tables in restaurants, perks like that.

I do think this has something to do with it, whether it be at the NFL level or middle class level. They have such low self esteem after the abusive that it is hard to get out and think they can do anything, let alone work a job.
