Get one of the electric fruit and veggie strainers, they will make sauce in an hour or so, won't take long. We use the Kitchen aid pureer or the hand crank one depending on whose house we're at(big family....usually there are a few of us working together). We're Italian....the way we make sauce has been handed down from our grandparents who came over from Italy. We cook down crushed Roma/Marzano tomatoes with hot peppers and fresh stalks of basil for about 4-6 hours and then can the puree in jars. We can cold pack tomatoes(can be beefsteaks or Romas). What we can are the ingredients for the sauce.....we never can sauce. Sauce the way we make it takes 4-6 hours using the homemade puree and the home canned crushed tomatoes. We finished about 60 quarts on Friday. That should hold us for awhile. I also roasted cauliflower from the neighbors farm. Baked some oat muffins too.

I haven't posted for the last 2 days because I have been sick so today I am starting out slow. So far I have copied numbers for work into my own cheat sheet. Each type of meat, cheese, and salad has a different number and I can't remember all of them, about 250 or more. Each of us creates our own sheet beside the one on the case door. That one doesn't have all the numbers so we have to ask. Other than that, I have to take Tink to the vet to have her stitches taken out, at least the ones that are left, and have him check her incision. Then I have laundry to do and groceries to get. I also want to get my hair cut and stop and get my picture taken for my driver's license. That will be my day.

What I did today, 9/17/14:
1. Took Tink to the vet and had the rest of her stitches taken out. 2. Got my hair cut. 3. Got picture for license. 4. Got groceries. 5. Did laundry-wash, dry, fold, and put away. 6. Took a bag of garbage out. 7. Filled 5 water bottles. 8. Cleaned both litter pans. 9. Worked on list for work. Still more to do because my hand gets tired printing them on paper.

We left the house this morning @ 6:45 headed to the VA Medical Center. At least it's only 15 minutes away. Finally got home about 2PM. Dh had is endoscopy and sigmoid colonoscopy. He definitely has ulcerative colitis, but the real news (to me at least) is that there is another area of concern where a sample was taken for biopsy. I looked it up, I'm not telling DH what I found out as with his personality he just believes you take care of things and why worry if you can't change it? Me......tie me to the bed, I'm going to go nuts.....We leave for our trip at 5 AM Monday morning, and I'm not going to have any thing alter our special time...after all, we are celebrating our 50th anniversary by taking this trip.
We had lunch out at our favorite chicken place and have enough for dinner and a sandwich.
I'm about done for today....wake me when all this stuff is over. Congrats on the 50th anniversary! Have a great trip and hope all goes well.

Tonight we are at the Basin Harbor Resort on lake Champlain, in the small town of Vergennes, VT. Tomorrow we are headed for Montreal and Saturday we board a Holland America ship called the Maasdam. Had lunch today in Stowe, Vt.

I slept in a little bit then went to the gym for weight training after breakfast followed by 1.5 hours of tennis. Very hot and humid inside. I showered after then went to a friend's garage sale. I wasn't going to spend much and didn't. I did get a bracelet that matches and pendant I made last week.
I wore the bracelet but forgot to put on the pendant when I went to book group. I came home and had DH show me again how to get photos from my camera into e-mail. He ended up doing it as I couldn't get it done.
I e-mailed two group photos to the newsletter person who also adds them to an annual. She switched from scrapbooks to shutterfly books.
After dinner and dishes, I went to the Out of Darkness walk area and made a donation. I made another donation online.

Haven't done much the past few days. Work schedule was overwhelming. This week should be better. Back to normal work schedule, I hope.

This weekend: Cleaned our bedroom and one of the bathrooms.
Did two loads of laundry and hung on the line(it was very windy and warm so it all dried fast) Ironed shirts and pillowcases.
Rode my horse which was great.
Did some shopping at WM and Tops.
Picked up a book at the library
Brought a load of empties for redemption.
Picked a few more tomatoes from our garden.
Over the weekend DH hosted an outdoor beer brewing and BBQ day. Made some corn/tomato/onion salad from leftover corn and cucumber/tomato/onion salad for the gathering. Cut up the last of the peaches that I picked.
Picked apples from our trees and made baked apples. Have plenty of canned applesauce so have been sharing apple harvest with co-workers.

Cleaned house and did laundry. Stayed on my eating plan, so far. I met with a friend about amateur writing topics for the coming year and came away with a lot of ideas. Then I found out about the Nov./Dec. date conflicts. I let the peeps know. I have spent the better part of 3 hours on this board between checking e-mails and the written part of the writing topics. I did get one topic from the board to write about. Time to go shoot my archery bow. Some changes were made to it. The adage goes, people tinker around with their bow and sighting in, shooting until they are exasperated then they go fishing. I don't see the humor but know the frustration. Everything is set up just perfect. Bulls eye every time. Then, oh then, the string breaks. Back to square on and no passing go.

Installed some shelving in the office, repositioned and re-anchored the bookcases, and did some touch up painting in there. Have one coat of paint on a table I'm refinishing so far, will probably do 2 more. In all of my decluttering I came across my old, original Nintendo and Nintendo 64 decks. Hooked them up and played a few games for old times sake. Technology was really primitive when some of those games were made, but I remember thinking they were the greatest thing ever.
Now that the bedrooms/office have been redone, I really need to put the main living area back in order again. Maybe tomorrow.

spent almost 10 hours today at the vball dive bar, for a charity tournament/chili cook-off. my team played 8 pool play games (8-0) and ended up losing the best of 5 final set in 5 games. I jammed a finger after lunch some time, and I don't think I put sunscreen on my shoulders after pulling up the sleeves of my tshirt under my bra straps after a couple sets this morning. it was 80+ degrees out here today, and our division's sand court was in blazing sun all day long. managed to avoid burning my face for a change, but I definitely have some solid red lines along my shoulder blades a few hours later. I'm starting to get the sunburn chills while I sit here and catch up on this site and FB.
heading to bed soon. back to packing up the house in the AM. hopefully I don't need to "buddy tape" my jammed finger in order to pack by the morning. <fingers crossed> that it isn't any worse than it is now, at least!

We are back from Nebraska. I think my Mom enjoyed her 95th birthday party. It was far colder there than the weather prediction so we ended up at the new outlet mall just outside Lincoln. I bought a Columbia red winter coat with 3 inside linings, and a pr. of black gloves. Dh also bought a Columbia winter coat.
I wandered into the Michael Kors store that was there and walked out $300 poorer. I now have a beautiful black leather bag with gold accents and also a cross body strap. What can I say, certainly not Smart Spending nor do I qualify to be a Mod on YM..... .
The finish carpenter is coming early tomorrow morning to remove the large top cabinet and the granite removal guys will be here thereafter. We are finally biting the bullet to remove the awful granite from the kitchen that was damaged by the 1st and 2nd installer. It's not worth at this time fighting with the builder so we're just having it done. The new granite I think will be spectacular. Unfortunately everything from the big cabinet has yet to be removed, and everything from the top drawers in the kitchen will have to come out. And it's now 7 PM central time and I'm simply worn out.
Oh, and we took 2 of the 3 grandkids for breakfast today as usual, and the youngest left his cell phone in the backseat of the car. Oh well, I have mine that's all that matters.

Picked the last of the beefsteak and Marzano tomatoes this weekend. I cold pack canned some of the tomatoes and with the leftovers made sauce.
Picked some apples from our trees.
Managed to get a load of laundry washed and then hung on the line to dry before it started raining. Finished all of the ironing.
Gave my horse a good curry and brushing.
Hits WM and Tops to gather some deals and groceries.
Turned over the compost pile and added a lot of stuff to it.
Cleaned house.
Made meat loaf and turkey burgers.
Made oat muffins, acorn squash and baked the seeds.
Put together care package for DS.

I sorted 3 weeks of mail, most of which was junk. Mailed cell phone to grandkid # 3. Granite is gone from the kitchen, called the plumber to give him a heads up on resetting the sink and faucets. Went to granite installers business and with templates picked out the sections of slabs we wanted to show.
Had lunch at Golden Corral, took the SUV into the dealer to get washed and cleaned inside. Just got back from WMT Neighborhood Market buying groceries and have put them away.
As far as I'm concerned, today is over!!

Laundry. Dishes. Cleaned the kitchen. Cleaned the fish tank. Brushed all of the animals and trimmed all their nails. Played far too many rounds of Cards Against Humanity.

I went to the dermatologist this AM to have him check out this thing on the top of my scalp. He believes it is an actinic keratosis. I guess my years of playing tennis and golf outside with a visor on instead of a cap has now caught up with me. I was given the option of having it frozen off or gouged out, I opted for the gouging and the biopsy.
Just came from out new Super Walmart, nice rainy day and not many people shopping. The handicap plates we now have on both cars gave us a great parking place too (I know, that's terrible to say) but DH needs it and I'm glad they are available to those who do need it. If I'm by myself, I don't park there.
Anyway, I had $6.5 in coupons. Not bad. However, I'm calling WMT to complain. It seems that now the coupons are taken off right after the original item is scanned, so they are in the middle of all the items purchased. Who the devil thought this was a good idea. I want them at the bottom!!!
on edit: I now have banked $8.65 in refunds due to the Walmart Savings Catcher program.

I had a lab appt. with the vampire this morning for a blood test, then off to McDonalds for coffee. After that we went to the granite (still none installed) to see the 2 slabs brought in from Tulsa.....both were cracked!!! So, we talked with the fabrication company and the manager of the wholesale company and DH was finally convinced we should pick out a different granite and be done with it. If...and it's a big if....this job just might be finished with new granite on Friday, but for plumber and trim carpenter it might be Monday before we can get them back here.
btw...sshhhh! don't tell anyone, but I like the 2nd granite better than the first.
We then went to lunch and came home and I sandwiched 4 donation quilts together so I can get them finished by the end of Nov. to be turned over to our local fire dept.

This past weekend: Got some butternut squash from the farmer next door. Cooked it and froze for Thanksgiving. Cleaned the bathrooms, changed sheets and generalized vacuuming and cleaning. Wiped some of the windows down. Did the books at church, paid bills and got some forms filled out. Did some shopping and deals. Did laundry and finished all the ironing. Saturday made a chicken cacciatore with our tomatoes. Used a new recipe that I found...came out pretty good. DH and I made sauce on Sunday. Gathered some things to bring to church for mission trip Took a good walk Cleaned out and filed paperwork

so far today, I tested out a new commute routine - aiming for a 630AM arrival time at the office, and it was a win. instead of the 90+ minute drives from where I'm crashing for awhile, I made the drive to work in just over an hour. looks like I'll be an early bird for the next few weeks.

Chiv, the lady across the street from us at our old house works for Walmart at the Corp. office. Her and 15K other people converging on the small town of Bentonville. She left work no later than 6:15 AM (usually at 6) and arrived home at 6:30 PM just to avoid the traffic not only on the into town but the way back as well. Funny how she has continued to climb that corporate ladder in the past 8 years.

I think the corporate ladder was a by product of not wanting to drive in all the traffic. It simply comes to a standstill around 7:30 AM.

I went to the granite fabrication people early this AM to assure that the template was satisfactory. I LOVE the new granite, its has some interesting colors and figures in it. Then off to the dentist ($135) for cleaning, but Look Ma...no cavities. For you youngsters that was a toothpaste commercial from the 1950s.
Then stopped in to the Walmart Neighborhood market for some groceries, then off to the Mercedes dealer to get the car washed.
Now, it's time for Dancing With The Stars.

Pat, don't you remember from rv.net? the way to easily remove bugs from the front of a vehicle is to use a wet dryer sheet then dry with an old towel.
