A friend told me about another fitness app too. It's called RunKeeper. It supposedly (just downloaded today) tracks your route when you're running/walking/hiking/whatever and tells you how far you went and calories burned, it even recognizes inclines if you're hiking. I'm guessing that's kind of sketchy if you're out where signal isn't great, but I've always wondered how far I really walk on my lunchtime strolls. You can also set goals. I'm trying to set some for the summer, but I'm not sure what's realistic. I'm thinking 200 miles walking and 400 biking. MapyMyFitness (which I think is by the same people as Megan mentioned) maps everything - bikes, run, swimming (obviously need a waterproof case for that ), walking. The best part is there's different categories for it. So biking has cruiser, mountain bike, road bike, etc. So far I've only used it for bikes but I like it, and it links with My Fitness Pal as well as the app for my UP band.

It's great to look back at previous walks/runs and see how much I've improved over time. I'll never be able to run. I wish I could, since it's such an effective exercise, but I was born without hip sockets (or something funky like that) and my one leg turns in quite a bit. It's not something that effects me normally, but with the extreme jarring of running, my feet, knees and hips all break down really fast. One run could have me gimping around the remainder of the summer.

I'll check that one out too in case this one doesn't work well for me. The friend that showed me it is just a runner, so that's all she uses it for.

One run could have me gimping around the remainder of the summer. Walking is still a great workout! I started out walking before I progressed. But running is definitely not the method of torture for everyone! Even if someone uses a gps app for running (like me or your friend) it still works perfectly well for walking.

I also use MapMyRun and also Maprika if I want to do elevation/trails that aren't on google maps (Mapmyrun based).
