Another question,
Just what makes a comment racist or discriminatory?
Why is it wrong to call someone black a negro when in fact if you are an older American thats you would called a black person and would have not been racist.
Why is it if you believe in a man and a woman marriage is wrong, but if you are gay and believe in gay marriage that OK Why is one right and the other is wrong?
Why is calling someone a Redneck not racist? What is the image of a Redneck, White? Wearing a wife beater "T-shirt"? Tatoos? Living in a trailer park? Living next to a landfill?
So if the owner of the Clippers had said I do not want you bringing your Redneck friends to the game, do you think that would have made the News?

Another question, Just what makes a comment racist or discriminatory? Why is it wrong to call someone black a negro when in fact if you are an older American thats you would called a black person and would have not been racist. I'm an older American and would not call a black person a negro. I'm able to change with the times. Today, black people don't want to be called negroes. I respect that. Why is it if you believe in a man and a woman marriage is wrong, but if you are gay and believe in gay marriage that OK Why is one right and the other is wrong? Who said it's wrong to believe in a heterosexual marriage? Nobody, that I've seen. It's also not wrong to believe gay marriage should be made lawful. Both are right, and just. Why is calling someone a Redneck not racist? What is the image of a Redneck, White? Wearing a wife beater "T-shirt"? Tatoos? Living in a trailer park? Living next to a landfill? I don't know what the image of a redneck is. I don't use the term.So if the owner of the Clippers had said I do not want you bringing your Redneck friends to the game, do you think that would have made the News? If he'd gone on and on about it (as he did) and it was recorded ... probably.

... Why is calling someone a Redneck not racist? ... Because one can be born white and not be a redneck. One can not be born black and not be black.

As I said, oldcoyote, I don't use the term. I consider it insulting, just as I consider any name-calling insulting. Insulting others is not something I do, so I really don't care what others mean when they use such terms.

Does the mean referring to someone as a red neck would not be racist? I googled Redneck Every image involved someone "white" in what I would call a derogatory statement If I were to post an image of someone black in the same context, I would be labeled a racist by others on this board. When all I am doing is pointing out the lack of equal treatment. One of the posters here referred to someone as living by a landfill, to which I considered to be a derogatory statement. Enough of the rant. Off to work Three weeks in moving my business, Where all this stuff come from.

Some one needs a lot of diversity training along with a detailed review of racism in the U.S., and it is not mmhmm, billisonboard, xmascookie, or myself.
As for the marriage question, just one word to describe it: bizarre.

IMO if black people don't like certain words to be used, then they should maybe stop using them themselves...and especially not use them in their music since so many kids like to emulate black culture. Until they stop doing that, I don't see them having any case for calling out people for using the words...

If you get miffed at yourself and call yourself an ugly name, does that automatically entitle everyone around you to call you that same ugly name? I don't think so.

Wow missed this one- although right away what do I care about what one rich douchebag says? And for the most part he does own black people-at least their contracts. My question is why the OP went right passed the racist comments and into who had the sack to make a recording and question if it was edited'. What? Not possible for a rich white man to be racist! Must be a conspiracy! Must have been a set-up!

This was ALL over the news/news talk shows on Sun. I have to wonder how this guy got SOOO rich he could afford a major league team. I suspect it was recorded on a cell phone VERY nearby after someone caught a remark or 2. I also suspect it IS edited from a whole evening of conversation to JUST the derogatory remarks so it would 'play' better.
The owner does need MASSIVE retraining & probably some HEAVY fine by the league.

Hey Bills, why not try looking up musicians that kids actually listen to...you know like Snoop Dog, 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Ludacris, and any number of rappers/hip-hop artists. You know, the popular ones? I don't usually hear many kids driving down the road with Aretha Franklin music booming out of the trunk...

For being a "racist", he sure pays a lot of black people a lot of money.
I'm intolerant of people that are intolerant, because it's "my" view, that makes it right, right?

How long are you willing to be punched in the mouth by the intolerant before you become intolerant of the intolerant and punch the intolerant back?
