Hollow out an old log - and turn it into a pretty planter: You'd fit in quite well with the various yard crasher shows!! I really enjoy those shows.

Another gardening idea..
Turn an old wagon wheel into a funky garden trellis - very pretty!

I would sooo kill to have this dining table.
A very mature tree (possibly cedar or oak?), lumbered lengthwise to make the table-top and bench seats, then horizontally for the end stool seats, which were also hollowed-out. Sanded, then coated with a few layers of clear acrylic. Absolutely Gorgeous!

Very expensive dining table, I must say. I love the old tire flower planter. My junk gathering brother has close to a hundred. If he had more, we could build a house.

Got a "weathered" fence and don't want to have to paint the entire thing?
Weathered wood or paint can look good too. Paint a stenciled design on it to "dress it up" from Junky to Funky:

I got the old drop desk/secretary from my aunt. It's in the garage right now because we were busy with garden planting. This week I'll pick out the stain & new hardware for it & start the sanding process. I'll post a before pic when I start it & an after one when I'm done. It's made from black walnut wood & I'm staining it back to the almost black color it originally was.

Cool! I have the old treadle Singer sewing machine (in cabinet) that my mom had.
I have a newer Singer I use, but the old one I've already stripped the finish off and sanded down the cabinet, and I plan on staining it and re-touching the black enamel paint on the iron legs and gold on the "Singer" logo for the cabinet legs and treadle.
The machine still works too!!
I plan on using it as an accent piece.

Turn a back-pocket from an old pair of jeans into a smartphone recharging pouch. Cut out pocket area (leaving back part of jean attached) and use a piece (about 6"-8" long) of the stitched leg hem to attach a strap. Pouch strap easily hangs over the charger :

NNP, I've seen the ceiling fan dragonflies on a website before - they're pretty cool. Here's some more Junky-Funky fun ideas for a yard/garden.
Use some old garden hose faucet handles to spruce up a weathered gate with some "junk" art. Just screw the old faucet knobs onto the wood slats. You can paint them any bright colors you want too! You can get as creative as you want to be!
You can also add an old sink faucet to a flower pot for a fun look:
Turn an old or unused metal colander into a hanging flower basket. This basket is lined with coffee filters to prevent the dirt from falling out and roots to grow out the holes. Just paint it a bright color and get a bit of hardware for hanging. Directions on how to build, and more pics of how it was used to hang by a front door are in this link -->> Directions & more Pics on Building Hanging Colander planter

Easy-Peasy Patio side-table/bar (I love this).
Two wooden pallets, painted, then joined back-to-back with some square concrete stepping stones placed on top to create a work station/surface for any outdoor barbeque or get-together:

Love this one too!
Create a small patio/back yard fire pit using concrete garden edging stones (or brick). Just be sure to use some mortar to secure the stones in place so they don't topple over:

A pair of painted shutters & an old window frame plus an added hanging sign make for interesting & funky wall art. (I would have sanded-down & repainted the window frame though - or sanded/stained to a more natural wood look like the "Antiques" sign).

These junky planters were left by the previous homeowners. They are hand washers from an old factory and there used to be a foot pedal for water.

I'm going today to pick out the stain & see if I can get the new thingys cut for the desk. Once I get everything organized, I'll post before pics & show what the thingys are that I dont' know what they are called. They are thingys that the drop front of the desk pull out & rest on. You know...thingys. lol

Gorgeous old desk, steff.
That's a huge project you're about to tackle - but it'll be fabulous once it's done.
And here I thought that stripping the old varnish, then sanding-down/re-staining the wooden cabinet for my old Singer treadle sewing machine that I got handed down to me from my mom was a pain - that thing took me forever to get around to finishing (including the re-painting of the black cast-iron legs).
I thought I'd never be done with that job.

You aren't going to paint it pink are you? nooooo! lol I took one of the drop brace thingys because they were closest to the original color of the desk & matched it. It was originally a very dark/almost black color. The color I picked for it is this one. going for something like this

I thought I'd never be done with that job. When I redid my mother in law's Singer, I took the cast iron base part to a local car paint shop & they did it beautifully for $50. I just wasn't ready to tackle that part & took the easy way out. lol

This is a really cool idea for a plain corner wall - create a "Family Tree" and hang family photos on the branches.

to help get me more motivated on the desk sitting in the middle of my dining room, I started another project instead. Yeah, that's the way my crazy ass brain works! I have 2 metal barstools that are just ick. I found I had leftover material from when I made my dining room drapes, so I'm spray painting the chairs white & recovering the seats with that material. It's a bright yellow with the classic blue Country French pattern on it. I have 1 chair already painted (just finished it 10 minutes ago), but I can't find where hubby keeps the extra staples for the staple gun. Grrrrrr.
I'm fixing to bribe kiddo to see if he'll run to WalMart & get me 2 more cans of spray paint. I only bought 1 can because I just wasn't sure how much I'd use. 1st chair isn't perfect, I got a couple of runs. But I can live with it for my first time redoing barstools.
I've taken a before pic. when it's put back together (hopefully later tonight/early tomorrow) I'll take an after & post both of them.
