Never could get used to non-fat dairy. IMHO it doesn't melt well, tastes 'thin' in coffee, and cannot substitute in baked items without getting oily.
I tend to eat 'raw,' which means tons of fresh veggies & fruit. But they do have calories (unit of energy) so I attribute the weight gain to too much fruit / veggies.
At least the QUICK START program seems to be the core program of years gone by .... easy to follow.

Tonight is a chicken stir fry - chicken from the freezer, broccoli, mushrooms and anything I find interesting at the fruit/veg market today. Can't cost it out cause the chicken has been in the freezer for a while. & don't know the what else.

I'm making vegetarian chili tonight. I'll probably serve it over brown rice to stretch it.

I'm making a roasted whole chicken tonight. We will eat that with potatoes and some kind of veggie, maybe salad.
The rest of the week will look like: chicken pot pie, white chicken chili, chicken enchiladas, chicken salad for lunch ... I use every last scrap of meat I can get off the bird!

Scalloped potatoes and ham. Maybe corn muffins or blueberry. Jiffy mix.

Ombud said: I worked for Weight Watchers for a number of years, including as a leader. However it's not a program I can live on forever. And my sis was on it for 22 years and is still having difficulty maintaining weight loss despite the fact that she is a marathon runner. but she is able to lose weight on myfitnesspal.com
I've been a Lifetime WW member since 1979 and currently work as receptionist at 2 Sat. meetings. Compared to the 1979 program, this one (Points Plus) is a godsend! I would have lost the weight much faster if it had been the program back then. What's not to like about lean protein, fruit, veggies and nonfat dairy! And no liver! Must admit that I never ate the liver--just the thought made me gag. However, it is definitely difficult to maintain a weight loss. Our natural instinct is to go back to our old eating patterns and we start sliding down that slippery slope. Also, age and menopause are a big factor. I walk/hike 5-8 miles, 5-6 days week and know that I would be gaining if not for the eating diligence and that exercise. I say do whatever works for you but as someone who had tried every fad diet known to man (and some I made up myself), the WW plan is the most sustainable for me. Helps that I like fruit and veggies a lot! Good luck to whoever is fighting this battle--its a tough one, I know. I've been lifetime twice in the past 10 years. Lost over 20 pounds last year and gained it all back, plus a fe extra. Being perimenopausal and struggling with some sort of as yet undiagnosed autoimmune disease does not help. Started back right before Christmas. I was really struggling to get back into it, but the last week has been MUCH better. I like the simple start too, now that I'm actually somewhat motivated. Way easier than points. I actually think I may be down about 3 pounds this week I don't do non-fat anything, other than milk (I don't like milk anyway). I will use light or just smaller amounts of regular. My dinner tonight probably didn't cost much more than $1. It has been my fall back meal several times recently. About 1/4 chicken breast from SAMs, 1.77/lb.(they are huge), sautéed in a little evoo, add a handful of frozen broccoli (less than $1 for the whole bag) a splash of teriaki sauce (a few cents), and about a half cup of brown rice (Aldi, like 1.29 for the whole box). And a small dinner roll, maybe .25-.30 with a tiny smear of real butter.

DS / GF / GD2 / GS3 joining DD / GS1 / GS2 / GD1 (younger but here before GD2) / me for dinner so I'm making:
■ chicken 74c lb ■ rissoto (purchasing error @ 99c store 3 weeks ago) ■ veggie salad ■ jello ■ bread with olive tapenade (99c @ Safeway) ■ spice apple cake (99c) with vanilla custard (24c) - needs 3 eggs & 2c milk ■ 7up (24c after coupon)
somewhere around $8 for 4 adults, 2 teens, 2 pre-teens, baby dn count. Jello & salad already on hand
As far as Weight Watchers goes, it is easier to do it on free foods or the newest version of the old 'core foods' system. (I was down 30, gained 16 back, trying to lose 9 of those)

Chicken sounds good to me Holly. I think I will make chicken with leftover brown rice and peas & carrots.
Yesterday, we had yellow rice and turkey sausage with green beans.

Last night I didn't get home until after 7:30, so DH baked the personal size free pizza I just picked up at the store, and I had pepperoni slices (I follow a low carb lifestyle). Tonight I'm making a new lamb kebob recipe: Lamb, boneless-On sale for $3 off, $7.08 Fage Greek yogurt-Reg $1.69 on sale for $1 Can't remember what else goes into the recipe at this time. Yes, the lamb is a relatively expensive protein, but it's one of the few entrees DH actually requests.

Peace I eat a LOT of chicken because a) it is reasonably healthy w/o the skin; b) it is reasonably cheap/serving. I get 7-8 servings from a 4-4.5 lb bird.
Iggy Lamb is one of the few meats I do NOT like. I end up ordering some kind of fish if I go to a Greek restaurant.
I did eat both my ideas for Tue on Tue – lunch then dinner.
Tonight will be the leftover tuna salad w/?? Lunch is going to be soup or a veggie salad plate or both.

Chicken and Broccoli cavatelli. It the recipe below with only 1lb of pasta and we add 1lb of chicken to get a protein in the meal. We put a lot of broccoli in, it's sooo good sauteed in the olive oil/salted pasta water. Chicken breast- 1.69lb, broccoli 1.5# @ .69 a pound. Pasta - 1.00lb. Garlic, cheese, seasonings and olive oil say another dollar (we only use 3-4 tablespoons, not the 1/2 cup called for) So at least 6 servings for less than $5. It's one of DD's favorite meals. allrecipes.com/recipe/cavatelli-and-broccoli/detail.aspx

Hmmmmmm.... Not sure what DH and I are having tonight. Am thinking blue cheese burgers w/ roasted turnips and sweet potatoes? I'm trying something new: I looked up what vegetables are in season and bought accordingly. I've never worked with turnips before.
1lb ground beef $1.99 Blue cheese crumbles .50 Cheddar .25 Various condiments $? We don't eat bread, so no buns
Turnips .81 Potatoes 1.10
There will be enough for supper, and leftovers for both of us.

Tonight I will be making tuna cakes with rice and frozen corn.
Tuna ($1/can) mixed w/ an egg and flour to form into cakes--$0.60 for 2(?) Rice ($1.99/box)--$0.25(?) Corn ($1/bag) + a smear of butter--$0.20(?)
I'm looking at around $1.05 for dinner tonight. Pretty cheap and tasty meal!

Pasta and meatballs and salad. I would guess somewhere in the .85 cents range per serving. All items purchased on sale.
Last night was meatloaf and salad. About the same cost.
Tomorrows steak tips will be pricier, $1.50/serving for the tips plus salad and potatoes.

It used to be that hamburger was the least expensive meat but now it is chicken (or frozen ground turkey).
So, chicken is one thing that we eat often because even boneless chicken breasts costs less per pound than hamburger meat I make it grilled, stir fried, with Asian marinade or dressing such as sesame ginger or orange sesame, curried, roasted, or in the crock pot. I've even used chicken with pasta instead of meatballs.

Were going to have shrimp pea pasta tonight with a veggie plate of chopped stuff and dip.... since I have a meeting tonight and its supposed to be served cold.
I'm going to attempt to re-work his mom's recipe and use fat free plain Greek yogurt instead of Mayo. So its Frozen shrimp and peas (thawed) with a box of cooked pasta, tossed in the yogurt with salt, pepper and a little lemon juice... (maybe some Parmesan cheese on top)...
If it doesn't go over well, its leftovers from last night.
(Everything was in the pantry from a long time ago, minus the yogurt so i'm not sure how much dinner will cost)...? but next time I'll try and figure it out.

Soup, since it finally got cold enough here:
Turkey stock, made from turkey bones from Thanksgiving, plus noodles bought 2/1 around Thanksgiving/Hanukkah, plus some chicken and corn leftover from last night's Chinese stir-fry. I'll toss in some matzoh balls (made with matzoh meal on hand, plus eggs bought on sale, club soda bought on sale and a bit of salt). Alongside will be some pizza dough (bought for $1.99 last week) shaped into bread sticks, brushed with an egg wash and sprinkled with sea salt and Parmesan cheese and baked.
Grand total for about four quarts of soup: about three bucks.

onions - $0.50 beef boullon - $0.75 cheese - $1 bread - $0.75
Total $3 to feed 4 adults. That's one of my more economical healthy meals
