Something easy. I have a massage appointment and errands to run after work.

We're finally getting a light touch of winter around here and we finally have a day with nothing on the schedule, so I actually feel like cooking a cold-weather meal: 4 pounds of pot roast and a TON of veggies are simmering away in the Dutch oven. An hour before they are done, I'll make homemade mashed potatoes. Fifteen minutes out I will toss a TON of kale chiffonades into the pot roast. Some warm bread or rolls of some kind and dinner is done. Dessert will be another batch of freshly cut out and baked Christmas cookies and some warm, homemade, apple crisp.

Finalized a few more days: Last night: Had the smoked beef sausage (sale, coupon) with fresh French bread (bought last night) and cheese (sale, coupon). Served it w/ leftover baked beans for DH, and a few Triscuits (sale, coupon) for me. Approx $4 for 3 servings. Tonight: Chicken drumsticks (sale 1.41 for 6), zucchini (City Market personal price) and Roma tomatoes. $2.74 for 3 servings. Tomorrow night: Homemade pepperoni (CM personal price) pizza. Not sure yet if I'll make a ground almond, cauliflower or chicken crust. Reg price on the pizza sauce, and the mozz cheese was on sale. Approx $5 for 4 servings. NYE: Chinese take out. Friday-Sunday: Still not sure yet.

Leftover chicken parm, stuffed shells with ricotta cheese (shells were on sales and ricotta was a BOGO) and leftover tomato sauce.
Tomorrow night: pork chops (BOGO sale), stuffing (made from dried bread cubes sealed up and packed away from Thanksgiving), gravy and steamed carrots.
Thursday: steak, baked potatoes and steamed broccoli.
Friday: chicken stir fry with veggies. I have the rice and the chicken on hand, as well as all the sauces.
Saturday: I'll probably make pizza (scratch dough) if we are not going anywhere.
Sunday: I did not use the crab cakes in the freezer yet, so DH will get two of those. Might treat myself to blackened fish or steamed shrimp.

It's not new here, optional but nothing I haven't seen before. See, we don't do fruit in the salads that often around here. I've had it, but it's not a required ingredient. cheers, I guess that's my new thing to learn today. I've never heard of it before. dinner tonight for me is very likely going to be a big green salad. maybe I'll roll up a slice of provolone/turkey and cut "antipasto" rolls for some added protein. roommate and I actually looked at the nutrition label for the bottled stir-fry sauce we've settled on lately and nearly had a pair of matching heart attacks. there's 500mg of sodium per serving, and 19 servings in the bottle. last night, we used the entire bottle on a huge stir-fry b/c it wasn't just us. um, that would explain why my blood pressure's been slowly rising the past few weeks - we do a stir-fry at least once a week using one of those sauces. oy. guess I need to figure out a tasty homemade sauce to start making. I do almost everything else from scratch, this was just one lazy convenience foods I was okay with. tomorrow and Thursday will be leftovers Friday - party! we're planning an appetizer spread for whoever comes by for a night of Cards Against Humanity. so far, we've got egg rolls, teriyaki chicken on sticks, buffalo chicken "rangoons", and stuffed jalapenos.

DS did not like my attempt to sneak sweet potato into him today. He requested that I make him new quesadillas with white cheese I guess so he knew it was only cheese. Damn kids!

I should aspire to cook. Last night I had an apple, popcorn and a piece of chocolate. I was running late this morning and I couldn't remember what freezer the chicken is in. This is so me. I ordered pizza last night. Since Thing 2 got her wisdom teeth pulled today, we'll be on liquids. She'll have soup and I'll have some of the Crown Royal my mom got me for Christmas.

I see I will need to do at least another week or 2 of FFP. However, I also want to do a bit of cooking that will add to the freezer such as clam chowder, black bean soup, lentil stew and maybe crab cakes. Most are winter recipes and need to be done while there is still a reasonable amount of winter left to consume them.
12/29 FFP
lunch Popeye's chicken special ($4.39 inc tax for wing, breast, biscuit, side) since I was out running errands Dinner deli turkey (end of code) on rye
I WILL start a new dinner thread for 2016. 124 pages is enough.

tonight will be DS's weekly favorite of chicken nuggets, fries, and some type of vegetable.... probably raw carrots. I will probably have some type of sandwich instead of nuggets.

Change of plans last night. Stopped for a drink with a friend, so DH and I grazed on junk food when I got home. Specifics I will not type publicly. Let's just say I channeled my inner 6 year old via squeeze cheese. (edited: It was generic squeeze cheese. The name brand is over $5 these days!!!) Tonight I'll make the chicken drumsticks mentioned above, with different sides, however. I had to toss Romaine and 2 zucchini this morning since we didn't get to them in time due to all the eating out and other holiday meals. Total waste approx $3.39.

MJ2 -- is he just being difficult or could he be having a reaction to the sweet potato? I ask because I have allergic reactions to Sweet potatoes, most squashes, and pumpkin meat. I completely freak out when I see orange during the fall/winter and I can't tell if it's a piece of carrot or some type of squash. Just a thought.

Last night was canned soup.
Tonight is going to be cheese tortellini with pesto and frozen veggies. With leftovers for dinner Thursday.
Friday is going to be Chicken Chili Quinoa for pretty much the rest of the week.

had a bowl of salad greens w/a cut-up roll of a slice of turkey and a slice of provolone, with vinaigrette and croutons. I got home earlier to a somewhat heavy conversation that I ended up involved with, and I just waited for everyone to head out for the night and I tucked into the salad.
I just opened a bag of bagel chips to munch on while I watch hockey and finish catching up here and everywhere else that needs catching up on.

My DS lived for about six months on nothing but home-made fettucine alfredo, apple juice and bananas. Absolutely refused to eat anything else. Could have been worse, I suppose.

While digging thru my freezer Wed I found I am overloaded on chicken kiev and fake crab. Those are now on my list to eat in the next week or so. I also still have a LOT of tilapia. I probably should start an in the freezer master list.
Lunch sauted talapia (F) & sauted fresh baby spinach Dinner egg salad (F)

I have a master list of what is in the freezer taped to the freezer door. I add/subtract items as necessary.
Last night dinner was a turkey hot dog on a piece of sour dough bread and some cheddar bacon pasta salad. I think tonight will be spaghetti with part of a jar of 4 cheese pasta sauce.

Got the idea from Uncle Buck's 6 year old niece in the movie of the same name. We watched it on Christmas. Yup. Cheese balls and all.

When you say squeeze cheese, do you mean the crap in the can you spray out? Ick. I found out that stuff can eat paint off trucks. Or more to the point, my BF at the time found this out. Don't ask. Dinner tonight is a bunch of nibbles. Meatballs that DH is dunking in marinara sauce from leftover takeout, nachos and chicken nuggets. I bought the nachos today, 2 for $4.00 but had the rest sitting around. I think the nuggets were $3/bag but don't quote me on that.
