chiv- I too need to cut down on the booze. I have been drinking a bit since Mom left, I think partly just because I can.
I am looking at my options for school, moving, etc and haven't quite decided what to do, but the job market here sucks.

not sure where you are exactly, miz, but I've been thinking about taking on a roommate if this place doesn't sell soon. I'm in E/Central MA.

Yikes, chiver! Glad everything worked out!
I' ve been a mess since vacation too. I am great and motivated for a few days... Then I go through a few days of not caring. Rinse repeat. I am hardcore PMSing right now and that just makes everything worse.
I am really trying to just fake it til I make it. Fake the enthusiasm for getting in activity and eating well, and eventually I'll be happy doing that again. lol

Glad to see people back on this thread!! So what can we do to motivate ourselves? Sounds like a lot of us have taken a break for different reasons. It happens to me all the time! I was looking through old pictures last night (from a year or two ago) and was struck by how different I looked - mainly because I was thinner. Sad but I guess eye opening too. I guess I could print out a picture of healthier me and a picture of current me and keep them at my desk...that might keep me motivated! I look terrible!!

In other news, I FINALLY LOST WEIGHT this week!!! Last week I was at 203.2, I think. Today 201.6! It sucks that was the weight I was at on January 24...not sure why it took 2 months to lose 1.6 pounds? But I am definitely happy it is lower! The plan this weekend is to walk walk walk!!! And eat healthy.
(4/4/14) 201.6 (3/28/14) 203.2 (3/21/14) 202.2 (3/14/14) 203 (3/7/14) 204 (2/21/14) 202.0 (2/14/14) 202.2 (2/7/14) 203.0 (1/31/14) 204.2 (1/24/14) 201.6 (1/17/14) 203.2 (1/10/14) 203.2 (1/3/14) 204.8

Chiver, thanks for posting those paleo recipes. I'm a picky eater but I want to try a few of them! And I sent them to my sis who has celiacs. And now I'm sending them to my other sis who might have PCOS.

way to go ladies!!! my scale finally moved this week too... shocking because I feel super bloated and am totally PMSing. but i'll take it. I have been feeling really dehydrated... but I've been drinking plenty of water. I keep getting that hungover feeling, though I haven't been drinking. I wonder if i am lacking potassium or something? In other news, I went through skinnytaste.com and pinned a bunch of recipes, going to try out a few next week. my meal planning was seriously lacking this week.

I used to have one of those bodybuggs and, while it was kinda cool, it was a PITA because you wore it on your arm. The fitbit is way easier since you can clip or stick it in your pocket. you don't have to wear a fitbit on your body? ooh....did not realize that, everyone I know that has one, it's touching skin like a watch - I can't wear a watch b/c of various metallic allergies, so I figured I was SOL with fitbits too. hmm.... I wear an "under shirt" (like a tank top) so I clip mine to that and it just hangs out there.... Hubs clips his to his jean pant pocket. We love our fit bits.

hmm....change of plans for this weekend. there's a hockey tournament going on this weekend that my team missed the entry cutoff for, so I figured I wasn't playing. cue injury and illness, and I have a sub spot on one team whose first game is at 5pm today. depending how sick that player is, I may be playing 2 more (or 3 if they make the finals) games with them S/S before my own team's game Sunday night.
I'm still sort of stuffed from this morning's bagel, but I forced myself to eat that apple just now. will choke down some peanut butter crackers before I step on the ice too, just to be safe.

Not the best week.
Missed step goal one day.
Ate poorly on Friday. Scale reflected that this morning slight gain.
For the upcoming week--need to get in my steps and figure out how best to tone my upper arms.
Well time to get stepping.

this weekend went to hockey I subbed for a team in a big league tournament, there was a player who hadn't gotten out of bed all week, she was so sick. so I played Friday's game in her place, then spent Sat/Sun tourney games splitting time with her for the games. so it worked out to my playing half games both days....which means I played a quarter game each time (two lines) - which is totally fine. I hadn't expected to play this weekend's tourney, and nobody ever asked me to pay for my ice time. win-win! closed out tonight with my regular team's last game of the season (ironically against the team I subbed with this weekend...!) and not only did we win, but I got a goal! I float between F/D and don't have a great shot, I hadn't scored a goal this season since our first game - against this same team - so wooot! and yes, I apologized to the team I played with all weekend for hooting and hollering about my 3rd period goal that put us up 6-1, that came *after* we'd tossed up wing/defense for the 3rd period in an effort to continue holding off the offense after going up 4-0 in the 1st. we actually said we'd hold it to one goal/PP after the first, and I said I wanted one since it'd been a long season between goals. my teammate set me up perfectly, it was beautiful as far as fitness/eating/whatever, this weekend's been weird. between odd game times, not knowing I was playing until mid-Friday (5pm game that day) and everything else.....I'm just winging it right now until the salt/water settle out in a couple days. I put today's calories into MFP before my game tonight and realized I only had about 800 calories total for the day, not even accounting for this morning's burned calories. so when I stopped at Wegmans to pick up wine (making red sauce this week) on my way to the game, I hit up the hot bar for a pot sticker and an egg roll to bump my calories before hte game. I haven't passed out yet, so I must have done something right! absolutely looking forward to getting back to routine tomorrow and the rest of the week. keep up the great work ladies!

I failed at walking on Saturday, but we walked about 5 miles on Sunday! And I made some new meals on Sunday from the recipes that chiver shared! Moroccan Chicken and butternut squash soup and spaghetti squash pie! We ate the soup and it was pretty good! But haven't tried the pie yet. The soup needs a little more flavor - any ideas? It has cinnamon, cumin and red pepper flakes. I was in the 201 range this morning but I did eat some ice cream last night. So I will need to be careful this week and hopefully get in the 200s.

missk82 onederland (ha!) is so very close! Crossing my fingers for you. as for the butternut squash soup... perhaps a bit of nutmeg? chiver78 Nice job on the goal!!! i wish i could ice skate or something like that. it sounds like a fun way to burn calories. I am way too uncoordinated to skate let alone play a sport while doing it! Day one of new recipes is a success. I made a baked chicken parmesan with spinach salad. I made two chicken breasts and 4 servings of a garlic basil pasta. DH got 3/4 a large chicken breast and maybe 2 servings of pasta. The emailing 1 1/4 breast and 2 cups of pasta was split between my dinner and 2 lunches for this week. I am stuffed! It was really filling. and under 500 cals. which puts me spot on for calories today. Finishing up my steps for the day... aiming for 12000 today so i can try and catch back up to ners this week.

Hi there. I'm still around. I read everyday, but haven't been posting because I am in a total funk... Work, home, preparing to move, weight, money - everything has me down. We finally had a nice day yesterday so I was able to get a little over my 10,000 steps in yesterday. I have been so blah lately that I have been going home, eating something, having a few adult beverages and vegging out on the couch or in bed to watch tv. I feel like a huge black cloud is hovering right above me and travels from home to work and back again. I made a nice dinner last night and was able to be under my calories for the day, so maybe with the weather changing, I will start feeling better. Anyway, hope all is well with everyone.

I've just started forcing myself to get my steps in. it helps, but i have to constantly fight the urge to just veg. I'm pretty overwhelmed with several thing in life at the moment and stress is taking a toll... but I find that just keeping up with 2 small goals, instead of 5 or 10 goals, really helps. right now, it is simply, get 10k steps and eat less than 1700 calories. when i break it down to be that simple, it is easy to follow and will help me until i have more time and energy to focus on more goals. Hope you are feeling better sooN!

Thanks Sarcastic! I was crawling in bed last night and checked my fitbit. I needed 1400 more steps to get to 10,000. So I crawled back out of bed and got them in, because you told me to! LOL
This might sound dumb, but I've never really understood the whole calorie thing. I have my myfitnesspal thing set at 1400 calories for the day, but then I read other sites that say you should have way more in order to lose weight, which makes no sense to me. So I will just try to make good decisions. If I could control my portions and not drink so much alcohol I really think I would see a difference.
I did join another dietbet to try and motivate me that way. It worked before, so we'll see... maybe I need some cash at the end of the line as a motivator. I saw a thing on one of my sites I visit that said to put a dollar in a jar every time you exercise, and then go shopping for clothes that fit better after 6 months. I need to do something to kick start this lazy butt!

Awesome job, acemom! Little things like that will start making a difference for sure. I don't know where you are geographically, but the weather is starting to turn here in Chicago. 60s this week. Possibly 70 tomorrow (first time in 6 months!) And being able to get outside makes those steps just a bit easier! Woooooo! As for the calories, everyone is different. I feel like we all have a certain caloric intake that works for us. We just have to find it.

acemom great job getting in those last steps. Many evenings I just want to give up.
I have not watched calorie intake as much as I should.
No progress on weight this week. Went a little backwards.
Managed to get in my steps this week. Will need to pick up the pace a bit to get my 400,000 for the month.
Now off to get in some walking.
Must give sarcastic girl a goal.

Well, I got a job and go to orientation Monday. I think this will make things better in the long run. I am not getting the support I wanted in doing this, but oh well. I have also heard or read a half dozen or more times this week that the disabled should not be in the workplace

Hooray Mizbear! You do what's right for you and pbbbbbththththth!!!!!!!! on the naysayers. You rock. Oh, and I love your new avatar. So, I'm still around, and still stuck. I totally and officially and forever fired the jerk pain doctor after he suggested I start taking Ambien because I wasn't sleeping because of pain. He claimed with a straight face that it has no side effects and when I suggested that solving the pain problem would solve the sleep problem he screamed at me and said I was just a druggie who wanted opioids. Ummm, bye bye jerk. DH & I had a 3 day trip to Iceland and loved it all over again. I climbed a bajillion steps up to the top of a waterfall (I counted, there were officially a bajillion ). Good thing, because we ate amazing food. They eat some weird stuff in that country, but they also have amazing local lamb & fish. I don't think I could live there but it's an amazing place to visit.

mizbear good luck at your new job. Remember you make decisions that work for you. The choice is up to you. congrats and good luck! and ignore the negative people. they don't live your life. quick update on me - scale hasn't moved in awhile, but I'm almost down another belt loop. woot! I played a surprise hockey game tonight (another team needed a sub for their last game, my team finished up last week) and I'm now done for the summer unless any tournament opportunities come up. keep up the great work, ladies and gents!

mizbear congrats on the new job! don't listen to the naysayers... you can do it! kilroy 3 day trip to iceland? sounds interesting! glad you guys had a great time! and hooray on getting rid of that asshat doctor! he has no right to scream at you whatsoever, and he clearly doesn't seem invested in getting to the rid of your pain issues! Here's hoping you find someone better! The scale was moving along great last week... dropped 3 pounds. then 1 meal out on friday and the scale jumped back up. ARGH. it was still up 3 pounds this AM... but I am retaining water like CRAZY! working on water and tea right now to flush the water weight. I've been limited in what I've been doing workout wise... because my back has been killing me. I think i mentioned this before, about my bed suddenly being unbearable. DH and I bit the bullet and went and shelled out $$$$ for a new temperpedic... king size. I am so tired of waking up in pain... I can't wait for it to get here!!!! Also- work has been insane. In the last two weeks, my work husband (who worked in my group) got fired... and then my supervisor got the ax on thursday. so things are a litte crazy and we're all a bit on edge. hope everyone has a great week!
