I've gained weight in 2013 from all the stress and crap I went through. Last I checked I'm 120 lbs. So I want to start to lose a bit. My goal for 2014 is to get back on track with my weight, medicines and saving.

My ultimate weight goal is 120 (I've revised it down by 5 pounds to allow for fluctuations without freakouts ) My plan for this weekend is to figure out a varied workout plan for the new year.

In 2014 I would like continue my weight loss. This will be accomplished by watching what I eat and continue exercising.

Sugi- I realize you are smaller than I am- but I would love to be 120 right now! LOL
My goals (fitness and health related) for 2014 are as follows- continue changing eating habits, run the Hospice 5K Black Friday, be much thinner by the time my 20 year (oy vey) reunion rolls around, be in smaller clothes for my summer internship.
Have Mr. Bear notice I am getting skinnier
I am resetting my exercise area now that I have succeeded in moving Momma Bear out of my living room. Including setting up the Wii. I am also possibly purchasing a bike since it would be easier on my joints than running- but I have to admit, I hate bike helmets. I am adamant about wearing one on a motorcycle, but bicycle helmets just don't fit right....
Mr. Bear and I are both trying to lose weight- but he has less to lose....
Also my new grill (Christmas present) should help.
Will post 2014 starting weight when I am over the flu.

Is everyone here 5ft tall? lol
I don't have a specific number in mind. I have an initial range... when I get there, I'll reevaluate.
I need to get back into a workout routine. It is always so hard for me during the winter. UGH!

I'm 5'6" so 120 is probably low for me, but I want some wiggle room.

Oh goodness... I am 5'5" and at 120 I would look emaciated. In HS I was 140 and a size 4/5. Of course I am also large chested and muscular...

Forgot to add... Hopped on the elliptical tonight. Need to find something I can watch while I workout to keep me from being bored.

I'm in! It's funny, but My goal is to also be 120. I am 5'2. I eat well (most of the time), and walk everyday. I am adding a 30 minute light weight workout. I would like to walk even more, but in the cold weather i mall work before work. Once the mall is open, it's way to crowded. Good luck to everyone.

I'm not at all 5' nothing, I'm 5'7" even though my dr's office keeps telling me I'm 5'6 my goal weight # is more for what size/measurements I know I am at that weight, more so than the weight itself. it's a range, really....but it's still significantly enough far away from where I am now that I'm participating in a challenge thread. that said, I hit the slopes yesterday for the first time in years....and had a blast. I'm planning to drop off my skis for a tuneup tomorrow (when the snow stops!) so they are ready to go. I put in the "workout" for a few hours of having fun, into MFP, and dayum! I wiped out everything I ate and drank yesterday. good thing I skiing, eh? I'm now planning to go about once a week for the rest of this winter. we'll see how well I do with that now!

Awesome chiver! It is great when you find something you love that torches calories. I found that out while snorkeling. I ate everything I wanted on vacay and snorkeled every day and dropped a couple of pounds that week. Sadly there isn't really much snorkeling in chicago Sent from my Nexus 4 using proboards

I am somewhere between 5'2" and 5'4" depending who measures me. Usually it is either 5'3" or 5'4". I have a small frame, but I am very very busty for my frame size and have runner's thighs LOL (and calves). Momma Bear is 5 flat. I think that is why she wears cowboy boots everywhere these days LOL. Different height weight indicators have me between 106 and 147 for an ideal weight. At 106 I was complaining about 36/38 C hurting my back- what the hockey sticks am I going to do at 106 with DDs (And much larger)
For me, it is more about how my jeans fit. Size 5/6 here I come!

Chiver, it's great that you have activities like hockey and skiing that you enjoy that are also good exercise; makes it seem like less of a chore, I'm sure. I'm still trying to find that magic thing that I love (although spinning comes close).
I stood on the scale today, again not in ideal circumstances, and while the number hasn't gone down it hasn't gone up despite lots of holiday eating and missed workouts. Back to the gym tomorrow! I also picked up a cheapo 2014 pocket calendar to plan my workout routine.

I joined a thing called dietbet where you "bet" $25 to lose 4% of your weight in 4 weeks. Whoever meets that goal, gets to split the pot. The pot is now well over $6,000! I figure a little money motivator would help as well. If anyone is interested, message me and I'll give you the link. Program starts on 1/2. I need to lose around 30 pounds. I haven't been this heavy since I was about 8 months pregnant 8 years ago I can fit into my clothes, but nothing is comfortable or nice looking on me. So my main original goal is to lose some of my belly - I should lose a few pounds and some bloat by cutting out the beer and wine I started on this thread last year and quickly lost my motivation. Are we doing taglines? Posting weekly? What works for everyone here? Here's to a wonderfully fit 2014!

Welcome back, acemom! I hear you loud & clear on needing to lose weight around the middle, that's exactly my trouble spot I think people are just doing what they find works best for them; if you want to do a tagline with your goals to keep yourself accountable, go for it. If you want, we can post a if you miss a goal Like I said, whatever works. Glad you're here.

Thanks kilroy! I literally LOL'd when I read your post about the "punishment" for missing a goal! I need the accountability of other people checking on me... Does anyone on here use Myfitnesspal? I only have 4 people that are on my "friends" list and would like to have more. I'm ok with not having a perfect body, but I can't stand the look of my stomach hanging over the front and sides of my pants.

There are definitely posters here who use MFP, I haven't checked it out yet. I'm usually a list making, tracking everything type, so it might be a good tool for me.

I haven't checked out dietbet yet, so forgive me if this is a dumb question, but how do people report their results? If it's self-reporting, couldn't everyone just lie? (Yes, I'm a cynic.)

They explain how it works. you have to take photos of yourself on the scale... like full body and then close up... and there's a judging team that may ask for more evidence like a video or something.

they don't get posted to the public or anything and you're in "airport security" clothing lol They just go to the mysterious judges to validate that they are real and nothing fishy is going on.

Made it to the gym this morning (it's tricky on the weekend because they open later than during the week), did 45 minutes HARD on the elliptical, walked the 3/5 of a mile to work, and made it with 15 minutes to spare. Am really trying to ration the obscene amount of sweets in our apartment, but I went a little nuts with the chocolate gelato last night

it's not even january and i'm already wishing it were summer. the end of November and all of December have been so rough here. We've had january/february type miserable weather. UGH! I just want to be outside. To hike and to soak up some sun.
/end whining like a baby.
I really need to find an activity for the winter that I love. I want to try cross country skiing... but of course the conditions have to be just right for that and i can only do it on a weekend .
