OK. Got the walked. Did my fake core challenge, my jump rope, and threw the push ups in again. I'm pooped! Humidity is killing me right now. I was able to walk the doggies Tuesday so I've met my 2 times for the week. But I think I will walk them again tomorrow because with rain coming, they're not going to have much outside time for the next few day. Should be able to get a walk, jump rope, core, and yoga in tomorrow. That should have me done with my weekly goals x 1000!!! I think one of the reasons I have actually been able to stick with this thing this time around is because I'm finally seeing and understanding how all the other parts of my life are interwoven into my diet and fitness. And being here, seeing all of you working through that same inter-woven-ness makes it sooooo much easier. mizbear - glad you're able to walk, but definitely take it easy Whatever you decide, just do what's right for you - not what other people think is right for you. We will be sad if you leave, but we will understand. And we will be right here waiting for you when you get back (if you decide you need a break) missk - don't worry about the plus one pound. I get on the scale a couple times during the week just out of curiosity (even though it's not my official weigh in day), and it will swing +/- 3 lbs or so depending on what other stuff I have going on (food, diet, timing, whatever). kilroy - AWESOME news about the scale! And your jury duty should be coming to a close? chiver & sarcastic - I don't want to hear any details about sunshine, and tank tops, and warm breezes when you two get back bsbound - yeah, I'm with missk on the jealous thing! I've just got to the point where my 16's are fitting right! But seriously, being down to 12's (and you are still losing inches), HUGE congrats! And ENJOY it I'm in for the FINISH FEBRUARY FABULOUS challenge! - I'm doing good meeting my mini weekly goals - so definitely need to meet those again this week (should be good) and next week.
- I'm getting better with the jump rope, but I want to push it here at the end of the month. Going to work on it daily (except this Sat) so I can be at the full 2 minutes by the end of the month.
- Also, going to add in 25 bicycle crunches daily through the end of the month (except for today- bc I'm pooped, and Sat).
I have some things planned for Saturday so that will be a no fitness day. But other than that, no reason to not add these daily's in to push through the end of the month. You ladies are seriously kicking it this week! I think this was just the upswing we needed, so let's keep it going!

I am looking to see how bad tomorrow turns out. I can't really afford for Mom and my brother to mess me up right now, however the apartment I am looking at has a free gym and pool....
Still waiting for my biopsy results and also waiting to see what happens tomorrow...
Ate leftovers tonight.
Can't wait to get back to exercising regularly.

Did not go for mich of a walk today. Went to mailbox (on other side of complex) and back. Mr. Bear came out to go for a run when I was coming back and he thought I should rest. So I listened. :/ he must have some kind of special powers. I am usually unusually stubborn regarding these things. Tomorrow I am going to see if my biopsy results are back and see if I can get a 30 minute walk in.

well, challenge results are in. I missed 3rd place by .05% lol.....that's totally fine. if I hadn't had a salt lick dinner last night - fried rice, really? - I probably could have gotten it. .05% worked out to .3 lb. oh well. I think 3rd place got their entry fee back. have a good night, all. I'll catch y'all in a few days. will be surfing from my phone a little tomorrow and Saturday until I board the ship, then a little on Wed when we turn over the boat between sailings, and then not again until next Sunday when I am on my way home. be well!

mizbear - yes! I hope you are out and about soon - but don't push it! Your body needs time to heal. Good luck on the biopsy results. What's going on with your mom and brother?
Chiver - have all the fun on your cruise!
miisk, marion and sarcastic: so excited you guys are in for the challenge! How did everyone do yesterday? I hit all my goals and went swimming despite really REALLY not wanting to. It was a decent but not great swim, which is fine.
sarcastic: Happy to donate clothes to you, lol, vs. goodwill. Sorting through that giant pile is on my list of to-dos this weekend - but of course it has been on my list for a month, lol! You should come over when you get back from the carribean and look through the 14s (and hopefully some 12s because of finishing February fabulous!)

bsb- Mom moved in 2 years ago roughly after my DGM died because the house had to be sold. Mom is a rotten housekeeper and bad with money, so her siblings wouldn't even consider selling or renting to her, plus my brother was squatting there, paying no rent and breaking every and all house rules. I told her she could move in with me- but it was a temporary move and there would be stipulations- for instance she had to pay the difference in the bills. I lost my rental assistance, heating assistance and privacy when she moved into my 1 BR apartment. She does not clean, cook, or do laundry. I actually failed a housing inspection thanks to her. We had to move when they changed the income system because we were "over income". SHe continued to spend and not do anything when we moved into our next apartment- and still complains about the monetary differential. I was only paying $168/month in rent before she moved in. Our rent now is over $900. It's a long convoluted story. As far as DB, well, he has too much of my father in him. He likes to walk that line between right and wrong and thinks he can walk all over people, especially women. He tore up the engine on his cavalier a little over 2 years ago. Was supposed to borrow DMs SUV for a week. He had it for 3 months, trashed the interior, smoked in it, and wrecked it. As soon as Mom got it back from the body shop, she traded it in on a car like mine- upping her payments again from another in a series of upside down trades. He had to be served with papers to leave the house and he ended up living out of his van for a while- one problem- the van burned up from improper maintenance. So then he and my ;ate father came to my place and asked if since we were only using one of our cars if my father could buy my car from me. I gave him a time period, monetary terms, etc. He died in July and I found out that he couldn't legally have a vehicle titled I his name due to tax issues. Gee, lied to again by DOD. SO, my brother was stuck with father's car, which was truly unsafe to drive. All of the life insurance paid out to my brother, who was supposed to buy my car, title in his name within one week of me receiving the cleared title, and I would be done with the car. I got the title in August, he blew me off, stating he was busy, busy, busy. Then the girl he was seeing supposedly got pregnant by him and had a miscarriage, then he continued to blow me off. I told him in September he had to take the car out of my name. When we went to DMV, I found out he couldn't have a car registered to him either and had never changed his DL back over to this state. So he lied to me. I told him he had to get it straight by the end of October. He has been granted all of these extensions from me and I am tired of it. I also have had unconfirmed reports of him drinking and driving in my car- which is a huge liability for me. So, I am making him return the car. I will not give him his entire $8800+ back because I figured up roughly what it will cost me to have the car fixed so I can drive it again. If I decide to sell it after I get it fixed, I might give him part of the profit to cover that. Mo msaid he broke the contract and is therefore out $8800. Either way, it's going to cost me several thousand dollars to have all of the services done, including 4 new tires, all applicable services, having a professional cleaning done of the car because it reeks, new title because we had signed everything, etc, etc, etc. I actually sometimes think dealing with Mom is easier than dealing with DB.
I try not to stress over it too much, but the truth is, I can't go buy another vehicle until this one is out of my name and I am also transportation-less until this situation is rectified.

Good job, bsb! I think I failed all of my goals yesterday due to frustration. But turns out Marion was right - I got on the scale this morning and it wasn't up 1 pound, it was down .2! So even though I would usually not be happy about a .2 loss, I'm SO glad I didn't gain that I am inordinately happy. Today: no iced coffee, WALK tonight (!) and challenges are on the agenda. I do want to be more active this weekend knowing my parents are in town and we will be eating out more. Need to try and counteract that! (2/21/14) 202.0 (2/14/14) 202.2 (2/7/14) 203.0 (1/31/14) 204.2 (1/24/14) 201.6 (1/17/14) 203.2 (1/10/14) 203.2 (1/3/14) 204.8 Geez 2 months to lose 3 pounds? Yikes...

Just wanted to add I know it's my own fault. I'm not gazelle intense. I probably should step up the intensity level a little bit though! Right now I'm more like grazing-cow lol!

missk- the grazing cow comment cracked me up. I feel the same way... winter is HARD! I had a lot more motivation last month than I do this month, that is for sure. but I feel like I am not making much progress at all right now. But hey- at least we're not gaining! marion- great job with the mini goals. you're really building up some great habits. chiver- you were so close! you should be proud of that progress! enjoy your trip! bsb- that sounds fun. you were preggo last time I saw you- so it has been a while. and I can give you some $$ for the clothing. finishing february fabulous- yesterday was a success! also, last night when DH came home I was doing some crazy steps/hip shaking/looking like a total idiot in front of the TV to get through my 12k+ steps (i got 13k+ last night) and I was just wearing the leggings I wore under my skirt yesterday and a tank top. DH walked in and just stared at me and said "wow- I can tell you've really lost weight. like- for real!" 7 days and counting (yes, i am obnoxious)

7 days and counting (yes, i am obnoxious) Sarcastic - that's AWESOME! I have posted a couple of pics of DH on facebook and people are writing me going "Wow, he's so skinny! He's lost so much weight!" I want to yell: "Hey, I've lost a ton of weight too!" But there's no photographic evidence because I always end up being the one taking the pictures vs. being in the pictures.

BSB- you needs photos stat! I know how that goes... I'm always the picture taker. DH *never* takes a photo of me unless I ask. I have about 3402938402938 photos of DH and the dog. DH has taken ONE of me and our dog, and I was asleep and sick (and he took it and posted it to FB without my knowledge! lol) Anyway, I'll take a photo of you when we get together and it will be smokin' hot! Also- keep forgetting to mention. so, on vacation, I am going to eat whatever I want. I did it last year and came home having lost 2 pounds. The fact that I was eating fresh caught mahi mahi at least once a day helped lol. we also did a lot of exploring and snorkeling. But this time, I'm excited because while we're not staying on the water like before, the place we are staying has a pool! So, i was thinking of getting up and swimming everyday before breakfast. Or if we have a day where we haven't been terribly active, I can hop in the pool for a night swim! I am excited because, I do love to swim!

Such great stuff happening here today!!!!! And, I am so glad I didn't have time to read/catch up at work today, because missk the grazing cow had me laughing so hard the doggies here at home thought I was insane, I can only imagine what my coworkers would have thought! Walked the dogs again today. That was an extra. More so for them than for fitness, but hey, I'll take what I can get. I have my weekly goals all wrapped up which is great, because I'll be busy tomorrow and I was planning it as a no fitness day. Now, this FINISH FEBRUARY FABULOUS challenge. I got it done today. But many, Many, MANY to you ladies that do the core challenge every.single.day. The bicycle crunches were evil. Just pure evil I tell ya! I'm on an "off" day tomorrow and back at again Sunday to push through this last week of February. Oh, and I know one thing I forgot to tell ya'll. I tried another new protein & recipe and this one wasn't a flop like the tuna. It was quinoa breakfast pudding. I had never had quinoa before, and the recipe was a bit runnier than I thought it would be. Instead of breakfast pudding it was more like a loose oatmeal consistency. But, it was really good, and the extra liquid worked out good in the end because I was able to cook a pot and divvy it up for the week to reheat in the microwave. This one is a keeper and going into the breakfast rotation.

I vote we come up with a March Madness challenge or a 60 or 90 day challenge. I know I will be doing a bootcamp that I make up since I can't bring myself ti spend $150 on it.

Lost .8 this week. Another stressful week at work. At least scale moved in the correct direction.
Was doing okay on water intake until yesterday. Averaged 20 ounces. Hit at least 10,000 steps each day.
Plan for this week. Try to average 25 ounces of water. !0,000 steps. Watch calorie intake.

I like the march madness idea-Mizbear
I was getting REALLY annoyed with the scale. because it has been very unkind to me... so, I decided this morning to take my measurements as compared to Feb 1st. my arms and thighs seem to be about the same, but I've lost a couple of inches off my waist and hips! YAHOO!

No workout last night thanks to a forgotten ingredient I needed to finish the cheesecake I'm bringing to a play date today. So instead of walking during the 40 minutes while it was baking, I made a trip to the grocery store.
On the bright side, we walked with DS I the park this morning, played on the playground for a while, and then walked back home. So yay for a good start to the day!

My main goal for March is to be able to do squats again by the end of the month. I have compiled a list of exercises I can do right now without risk or pain...
Arm work. Have.to keep the weight light, but I can do it. Walking. Dancing as long as I don't get too rambunctious with it. Some ab work, but I have to be careful about positioning. Mini- lunges Step work as long as I take it easy

Yesterday was a fail. I woke up at 6am and couldn't go back to sleep. I had brunch with a friend and a pedicure... came home, ate lunch and slept for 2 hours. woke up and had the worst stomach issues. didn't even get 4000 steps in

Time for my update. RecapCreate lots of new habits so I can lose 35 lbs by the end of 2014 and really have a healthier lifestyle. I met all of my Week 7 goals. And I joined the Finish February Fabulous Challenge this week. Week 8 Goals- The only thing for this week to push through the end of this month with my Finish February Fabulous goals.
(Jump rope daily to get to the full 2 minutes. I'm at a minute and a half now. 25 evil bicycle crunches, 25 reverse crunches, 25 standard crunches - all daily, and I'm going to do 25 half-*ss girly pushups daily since I've been doing it anyways)
It sounds like a lot, but it's only for the rest of this month, so I think I can really push myself and get it done. Numbers UpdateStart | 1/1/14 | 209.0 | Last | 2/15/14 | 199.2 | Current | 2/23/14 | 197.0 |
Down 2.2 lbs for the week, 3.6 for the month, and 12.0 for the year. I've met 34.3% of my yearly goal! That is so much more than I ever even imagined in this time period. I am just so amazed that even with all my tiny goals each week, that they really are snowballing into measurable progress. New Habits- Tracking daily calorie intake & regularly meeting calorie goal
- Walking the dogs twice a week
- Eating dinner at the table each night
- Basic yoga stretches twice a week
- Almond milk instead of cow's milk in 99% of everything
I tried the almond milk to help with the empty calories in my coffee every morning. I've always been a staunch cow's milk kind of girl. But once I tried it, the almond milk is just wonderful. Off the top of my head, I can think of a few things that may still require me to use cow's milk (mashed potatoes come to mind), but they are not things I make regularly and are recipe specific. For my daily run of the mill stuff it's almond milk all the way! Marion's Ramblings sugi - glad you checked in even if you haven't been following. There have been some really amazing things happening in this thread you created! Thanks so much for starting it for us, because we have all really picked up the ball and ran with it. missk - 3 lbs in 2 months isn't that bad. And I saw bsbound's post that you recently had a baby? I can't even imagine what your hormones must be like?! I am the queen of small - and I do mean small - goals. I pretty much spent all of January focusing on the diet side and just scraping by on the fitness side. I think you're doing fine. Honestly, you really are mizbear - I think the March Madness challenge is a great idea! Unfortunately I'm not quite creative enough to think of something that would work for that. But, I think our collective thread here can come up with something. And I'm glad to hear your recovery sounds like it's going ok, and I hope Friday's doc appt went well for you too! bsbound - the Finish February Fabulous Challenge was a super idea! For me especially, a week of pushing myself out of my comfort zone is a great way to change things up so I don't get bored. I'm excited to finish the week and the month. I feel like I'm getting a little burnt out. It's a lot of work to keep at this thing. And I'm also doing WIR Racer's to get my debt paid off. That makes for a lot of changes and a lot of little boxes I have to fit my life into now. Since bsbound issued the end of the month challenge, I think I can get through the rest of this month without feeling burnt out. But, I'm not sure about March. I'm thinking about giving myself a reward to help keep my head in the game. I really love accessories. Especially handbags. Winter/fall bags are on clearance to make way for spring bags right now. I saw one bag that I really really like. Regular price is $79 and it has been between $24 - $30 on amazon depending on the day. I'm going to set myself a goal that couples my fitness with my debt payoff. If I can meet both of those goals my the end of March, I am going to treat myself to that bag as a reward. I think it will be a good way for me to shake the burnt out feeling and work some fun in so I don't feel so deprived on all sides. I'll see where my weight and finances stand at the end of this month and figure out a goal for me to meet then. Time to finish the month with a bang ladies! Go go go!!!
