I am starting to look into proven immune boosting foods, cancer fighters, fat burners, muscle builders, etc. foods. My get fit plan is getting ready to make am interesting turn as I make some decisions regarding what to do about my current situation. Tjese are things I was already looking into, but since Mom isn't planning on being home.much and I am strongly considering asking her to leave, I will be able to switch over easily.

I have been trying to eat right and follow my 5-2, but it's been hard. I had quite an active weekend planned, and I normally fast on Mondays, but that wasn't in the cards this week. I can't fast today, because I have a 3-miler, so my fast day has been moved to Wednesday. Wish me luck in sticking to it!
This is what I did this weekend: Friday was a rest/recovery day. Fasted as per plan. Saturday I skied with my little guy Sunday is my long run day: did 4 miles at a sub-12:00 pace Monday (normally a fast day) I skied all day with my bro. No way I could fast that day! Today the plan is: 3-miler (pace TBD), stretch, and physical therapy for my back.
Woohoo, it was a good 3-day weekend!

OMG I am so sore today. So sore. Did I mention how sore I am?
After Monday's weight workout, I was much sorer on my upper body than lower, which totally suprised me given how much leg work I did. So then last night in the pool I decided to add 250 yards of kicking to the end of my workout since swimming works your upper body much more than your lower. The result is today I can barely move any muscle in my body without wanting to cry. Eyelids. That's about it. Thank goodness today is a rest day!
Scale says I am back down to 174.8 - so almost back to where I was before the week of splurging after we made weight. Considering the weight workouts and how my clothes have been fitting, I think I'm shrinking more inches than pounds - and I am FINE with that!
Having more trouble managing my diet without the motivation of the carribean - it's harder not to indulge when something is in front of me. But I am trying to be ok with that in the vein of moving towards sustainability over my previously spartan-diet. If I keep it reasonable and keep up the workouts I will keep getting fitter and trimmer!

I am not posting this on the other boards, because I really don't want to be the next "Doxie", but because of everything that is going on, I am considering leaving the boards. I have a lot going on as you all know and several someones have said that I am way OT most of the time.
I haven't made a firm decision yet, but I will know for sure Friday after I have the family meeting about what is going on.
Went for a walk yesterday and thought I would die, of course I had also been to the grocery store and stuff first.

I'm still hanging around! I've had a good week so far, but when I stepped on the scale for a sneak peek, it hasn't budged. =( Well, I still have 2 days till my weigh in day, I will make them good ones!

bsbound - You're right on track with the "splurges". You're doing everything right in terms of sustainability. missk - I have decided that the scale is a bit moody. As long as it doesn't go up, you're right on track. mizbear - that makes me sad, but you do have a whole heck of a lot going on. You need to do what's right for you. If that means taking a break from the boards, or changing your diet, or changing your relationships, whatever it is - do what is right for you. I think the OT thing is just dumb. We all go OT sometimes. Who cares really? I can stretch my imagination and make just about anything be somehow related to the topic. Just do what you have to in order to take care of you I had a rough start to my week. Plan for today is to walk the dogs, jump rope, and do my fake core challenge. I still have plenty of time to meet my weekly goals so I'm powering through.

mizbear - I hope you stick around. People get snootier about being on topic on some threads than others. Feel free to be off-topic here all you want. Hope your recovery is going well - and don't push yourself too hard! marion - sorry the beginning of the week wasn't great, but I agree you can turn it around!

I feel like February is kicking my ass. Things are REALLY hard! I just want to sleep and eat bread.
also, since i've kicked up my workouts a notch, i am STARVATION CITY! I haven't been planning more calories into the food I bring so i've been hitting the vending machine or grabbing a pretty unhealthy snack... which has had my sodium out of control. Must prepare and find balance! Must get my head back in the game!!!
9 days until the caribbean and I can't wait. It is getting torturous

mizbear - for all the rambling I've been doing about my adventures in the ER and the aftermath, you aren't doing anything differently by talking about what's going on in your world. I won't say stay or go, but do what you need to do for you. and be well sarcasticgirl - I totally hear you on trying to keep yourself in check as it gets closer to vacation. I leave for FL on Friday, where I will spend the next 8 days on a ship in a boozy hazy music-filled glorious daze. well, tomorrow morning is the final weigh-in for my challenge. the scale has been hovering around in the same 3lb range since my little trip to the ER. to be honest, I've been focused more on figuring out what caused the BP spikes than in taking more weight off for the challenge. that the scale hasn't gone back UP over that time is a bonus to me.

Just a quick pop-in. I got a quick walk in on Friday, Sunday and yesterday, but not much else. The weather here is gorgeous, though, so if I can convince DS to ride in his stroller, then I plan to get some more outside walking in - of course, he's 20 months, and this past weekend has decided he doesn't want to ride in the stroller. He wants to walk, or be carried when he's tired of walking - sigh, stubborn kid. He must take after his father. Bribing him with a walk to the playground, and/or a vanilla wafer or goldfish sometimes works, so I'll keep trying.

Alright guys, so as I was laying on the couch last night, I was thinking that many of us seem to be in a bit of a slump lately. Does anyone want to join me for a small challenge for the rest of February? 8 days - we each individually set our goals for the next 8 days. A way to double-down a little bit on the February blahs and get that New Year Resolution feeling back up.
Anyone interested?
My goals for the FINISH FEBRUARY FABULOUS Challenge: (I just made up the name, I plan to have it trademarked) NO takeout this weekend MAX 2 trips per day to the M&M dispenser at work MAINTAIN planned workout schedule - Swim day, circuits/weights day, rest day. Repeat. ROCK the core challenge EVERY DAY - including weekends! ADD 20 min walk during workday DO NOT GO INSANE AND EAT ALL OF THE FOOD AND DRINK ALL OF THE ALCOHOL during next Wednesday's all-day work conference and evening reception.
They're not crazy goals, but I think they will help keep me strong and finish February with a bang!

So I put on a skirt this morning that is a size 14 - I've been in 12s for a bit but this brand runs pretty small so I thought it would be fine - it was really crazy loose. Looks like this one is going in the growing pile on my closet floor of clothes that no longer fit! I also weighed in this morning at 174, so I am down to where I was when I won the Carribean challenge a couple weeks ago! Woot!

final check-in for my challenge this am - exactly the same as halfway check-in at 201.4. I am totally okay with that. now to wait and see how everyone else did. oh, and I leave tomorrow for my cruises. last year, I lost 6lbs over a 5-day trip b/c the food was so bad. this year, I'll be on that same boat for 8 days. I have an 8-pk of peanut butter cracker packages that I'm packing to be safe, but I'll likely still lose a couple lbs on the boat as well. all that running around from show to show. I can't wait!

I forgot to tell you guys, I went for a walk for 20 minutes yesterday. Very slow, very small steps, but a 20 minute walk none the less.
I find out tomorrow how things will play out. I think there are going to be some unhappy people after tomorrow.

bsbound I'm in for February challenge. I stepped on the scale again this morning and it was up a pound! I'm within my points and only ate out ONCE last week and this is what I get??! So frustrated.
Feb Goals: 1. Core/Upper/Lower Challenge every day it's scheduled 2. No iced coffee 3. No candy at work 3. Walk outside every day the weather is appropriate (this Texas transplant now thinks 45 degrees is acceptable weather to go outside in...)
Of course my parents are visiting this weekend AND it's my mom's birthday, so I know we will go out at least twice. I'm going to make good choices, but not be super-strict.
Sigh. You'd think I'd be trying harder to lose weight. I need to lose AT LEAST 20 pounds before we try to have another baby, and that date is coming faster and faster!

OK, I get that you have to do what's best for you, but I will be really sad if you leave. I think OT is really subjective on this particular board because stuff that happens in life has so much of an impact on how we eat & exercise, and sometimes talking through the "OT" stuff can help us focus on what we're all here for. I don't know who made you feel like leaving, MizBear, but I think that was mean

On another note, just wanted to report that having gone to the gym exactly once in February and having made almost daily runs to Starbucks for something to get me through jury duty, I am down another 1.5 pounds to 131.

February challenge- I'll join... though I leave town on the 28th and have 12 hours of traveling to 2 layovers, so that day is out of my control... but until them: 1. at least 12,000 steps a day 2. stick to the core/upper/lower challenge, I've been slacking. 3. knock off the boredom snacking!!! 4. make more concrete meal plans and stick to them my progress this month has been crappy. I'm down about 2 pounds overall for the month. I was down almost 4 buy i only say that number once... and the scale has been back up since then.

Quick pop in today. Work went to hell in a handbasket yesterday around 10:30 am. Then I was an hour late leaving. By the time I got home it was too dark to walk the doggies, but I did my fake core challenge, my jump rope, and my yoga. I also threw in 25 half-*ss-girly pushups for fun.
Today is super busy too, but I'm hoping the afternoon will wind down. Will get the dog walking and the fake core and the jump rope in tonight.
Lots of stuff going on I see - will try to log in this evening and check in again. Until then, just keep at it!

missk82 - don't forget that I've been working at this a LONG time - and you had a kiddo way more recently than me. I couldn't lose any weight while breastfeeding at all, either. Once I stopped, two things happened - 1) my hormones were stable, I was able to control my appetite, 2) I had time to exercise.

I have eaten horribly since having my surgery. And I know that it is more important right now that I eat than what I eat, it still sucks. Going to try for another walk today.
