mizbear - glad you are out of surgery. Rest up and feel better soon!
sarcastic - 1800-2000 calories is still fine - totally a deficit! We've all been having splurge days around here, it happens! My challenge over the next couple days will be donuts for valentines day - they seem to grow like weeds in my office...
Core challenge done last night, plus a swim. Can I say, I'm so proud of us core challengers! For me at least, I can now hold the plank for 42 seconds, which is amazing given how much of a struggle it used to be to hold it for 30. We are making our cores stronger every day!!!
Return to weight workout tonight. I'm a little intimidated, haven't done one in three weeks or so. Time to get back on the weight workout horse and get some of that excess weekend weight off!

Bsb- muscle memory! You'll be back to kicking ass like you did 3 weeks ago in no time!
My mouth is so dry and my hands are swollen. So much sodium! Going to attack the green tea today... And go for another 15000 steps and obviously a less indulgent day!

I was talking to a fellow student on Monday before my accounting test and found out that I am not the only one who had problems with massive weight gain with Zyprexa. He did too. He was lucky his doctor took him off right away, unlike mine, but he says that he knows several other bipolars who all had the same response.
And great news on the exercise front-
surgeon said that as long as I am not in lots of pain, I can exercise as soon as I am up to it Today is not that day.
I saw Mr. Bear today. He is still speaking to me.

Donut fail. Girl scout cookie fail. Regular cookie fail. Healthy eating fail.
Well, at least I can kick my own ass with weights tonight!

I have been up moving without problem, although my abs are pretty sore from being so sick after surgery. Because of my stitches and their placement, I won't be able.to do any squat or.lunge work for a bit, nut TBear said once the slush is gone we are getting me out walking. She said we will start with my place to the end of the sidewalk by Mr. Bear's and work our way up. I am having to remember to get up and move every so often so I don't get sore or stiff and although she is being very careful what she will let me eat, TBear has me back on solid food already.

mizbear - yay for progress. glad you're moving around again. bsb - I wish I had your motivation! congrats for following through with kicking your own ass! sarcastic - yay for the scale moving again! missk - you'll make it by the end of the month. you're making steady progress, that's awesome! the scale was down this AM - 200.4 I had said last weekend that I was going to spend the rest of the time until I leave for FL eating cleanly and not drinking any alcohol, to help squeeze out those last few lbs for the challenge. seems like that's agreeing with me, especially knowing that I'm not doing any major exercise besides hockey while we figure out what the hell's going on with my blood pressure. I turned in the 24-hr pee collection this am for testing. that was fun yesterday, NOT! I guess they need to test pee/blood for an elevated level of some amine to see if there's something going on with an adrenal gland. the thought being, if it's producing too much adrenaline, that will spike the BP. I saw that the blood test came back already, but I don't understand the readings. hopefully the pee test is quick too, and I'll have an answer soon! one week from right now, I'll be finishing up my packing and waiting to head to the airport. woot!

Tbear took me for a short walk today, past Mr. Bear's and down to the recycling dumpster while she emptied recycling. She made me rest most of the day though. Made me tacos for dinner and a delicious smoothie with chocolate nut blend milk, banana and frozen berries.
She said she wants me to eat certain things right now to help me heal.

mizbear - glad your surgery went well! sorry about the anesthesia reaction - here's hoping for a smooth and easier than expected recovery!
great job everyone, on the workouts!
I feel like February is kicking my bottom - but I keep plugging away. I got a short walk in on Tuesday, planned to walk on Wednesday, but DH was sick, and he went up to the couch and fell asleep for 4+ hours after leaving work early on Wednesday. Unfortunately, the treadmill is in that room, so even after I got C to sleep that evening, I didn't want to go wake DH up, so I didn't walk then - though I did do a few extra trips up and down the stairs at home just to keep moving. Last night we walked to the park and playground with C, and tonight we also did a quick walk to the park and back before coming home to make dinner. So while I feel like I'm not putting in nearly as many miles as I did in January, at least I'm still moving.

Overall not a great week. Work has been stressing me out. Resulting in stress eating on Monday evening. Had an event on Tuesday called Death by Chocolate. I had way too many calorie laden goodies. Valentines day my DF made dinner and a dessert. Overate on Friday for sure. Did get 10,000 steps a day barely. Down .8.
This weeks goal. Keep getting 10,000 steps. Average 24 ounces of water a day. Work on better eating habits.

Since we're less than 2 weeks away from the Caribbean, I started pulling out summer clothes today. I pulled out a suitcase full of summer stuff I haven't worn in about 3 years... And YAY! I now have SIX pairs of shorts that I can fit in again!!!! (2 still had tags!) I am also pretty close to wearing my favorite old jeans. They fit perfectly everywhere but are tight in the waist, though I can zip and button with no problem. I have a natural "muffin top" so my stomach above my belly button sticks out more than any other part. It is the last place Iose argh. A few more weeks and I will have a ton more clothes to wear.

Hey ladies- sorry for the long absence. I've had some computer internet difficulties and just got back into posting a couple of days ago. I didn't catch up with everything yet, but the pups and I are doing okay after our run in with the loose dog. I still haven't walked the dogs a long distance since the incident, and DH has taken over most of the dog walking duties. I've only had to walk them twice. Both times I was nervous, but it is getting better and I believe in a few months I will be able to walk them as if this never happened.
My weight loss has stalled, but I am going to cut out alcohol totally for the next 2-3 weeks and see what that does for me. I hope this helps me build a new habit. Living in Germany there is constant and cheap access to amazing beer and wine plus there is no stigma about drinking so you see people drinking all the time everywhere you go. It is almost like I've been living the last few years as though I've been on vacation where alcohol is concerned. I know this will help some, but only if I don't eat to take place of the time I might have a beer or glass of wine. I figure if I add in yoga or walks during times I might be tempted to consume food or alcohol that I can count on a .5 to 1 pound loss each week.

Update time for me. RecapLose 35 lbs in 2014 and create new habits that will stick. I met all of my Week 6 goals. I really suck at the jump rope though. The most I can do is 1 minute straight. Going to keep working at it until I can do a full 2 minutes straight. Week 7 Goals- Jump rope 3 times this week.
- Fake core challenge: 25 reverse crunches, 25 standard crunches, 3 times a week
I also have a couple of things I've been working on, although I'm not ready to add some of them in as a weekly goal. I've taken some inspiration from bsbound's daily core challenge. I actually added in the standard crunches last week even though it wasn't one of my weekly goals. I think I'm going to work on learning either the oblique or bicycle crunches too. If I keep adding to it I can eventually catch up and start doing the full core challenge with the rest of ya'll. I've also been doing some fake girl pushups. Inspired of course by sarcastic's upper body challenge. Still working on those since I suck at them, but hey, I gotta start somewhere. Numbers UpdateStart | 1/1/14 | 209.0 | Last | 2/9/14 | 199.8 | Current | 2/15/14 | 199.2 |
Down 0.6 lbs for the week. That comes to 1.4 for the month, and a total of 9.8 for the year. I'm really excited. Even with my weekly losses slowing down a bit, I am still on track to meet my yearly goal. Everything is working and I just have to keep at it! New Habits- Tracking daily calorie intake & regularly meeting calorie goal
- Walking the dogs twice a week
- Eating dinner at the table each night
- Basic yoga stretches twice a week
Since I met my weekly yoga goal again, I feel like I can finally call it a habit. And since I'm moving from being sedentary to semi-active, the stretching really does help a lot. Marion's Ramblingsbobosensei - so glad you popped in! I'm really happy to hear you and the are doing ok Ladies, we are at the halfway mark for February. And the evil chocolate holiday is behind us now. Let's see what we can do in the next two weeks. Go go go!!!

Time for another update. I weighed in this morning and i'm down 1/2 a lb. It was more earlier in the week, but then we ate out over valentines day and had a friends birthday thing the next day, so i'll take it! I hope next week I can kiss the 159 away for good though. I missed the 10k step goal on valentines day... but I think I'll still average out okay for the month. I also feel tons better physically and my legs look a lot better then before so I know its just the transition from not working out to working out that's making the scale pause.
Current Weight: 159.5 lbs (1st Goal, 145 lbs ) (2nd Goal 135 lbs) (3rd Goal 125 lbs)
Fitness update: 1. Game Plan: Every day, 10,000 steps. 2. One 5 mile walk/jog a week outdoors 3. one Bootcamp class a week 4. one 30 minute treadmill jog a week (no walking).
Steps Feb 1 - 17,217 Feb 2 - 10,048 Feb 3 - 14,977 (5 mile outside walk/jog!) Feb 4 - 10,480 Feb 5 - 10,572 so far (31 minute treadmill jog at 4.9 speed -- no walking!) Feb 6 - 8,538 Feb 7 - 4,021 Feb 8 - 11,278 (Bootcamp!) Feb 9 - 13,593 (5 mile outside walk/jog) Feb 10 - 10,053 Feb 11 - 10,439 Feb 12 - 12,644 (32 minute treadmill jog at 5.0 speed -- no walking!) Feb 13 - 10,079 Feb 14 - 5,939 Feb 15 - 13,854 Bootcamp Feb 16 - 15,895 (6 miles outside walk/job)

Heya everyone. Way to go on the steps, Amy!
Hope all of you had a wonderful weekend full of __________ (insert your own awesome word here.)
We had a busy weekend - foodwise it was a disaster. I didn't manage to swim Friday, I was so tired and sore after Thurs' workout. Friday was a bust in terms of food, obviously. Saturday lunch was a turkey burger and fries, but it was directly after walking around for 2 hours at the children's museum with B. I also swam Saturday, and the intervals are definitely helping me get faster! Yesterday we went to DH's parents. Food was not ideal but other than a piece of ice cream pie was not terrible. Went home and intended to do weights but my back hurt too much so just went to bed early.
Overall, I'm back down 1 lb since last week's increase. Will do weights tonight, then rest or swim tomorrow!

Hey everyone, happy monday! Still going strong on my steps... with the exception of thursday (where I had just over 11000 steps) I've been between 12000 and 16000 steps everyday for the past week. I didn't do any of the challenges this weekend (completely forgot!) but will get back to it today. i'm exhausted today and this weather isn't helping. Trying to keep awake and alert

I am not focused on eating or anything else at this point. If it doesn't hurt or make me nauseous, I am all for it. Headed for the doctor at 4 so they can see if they can do something about the difficulty breathing and nausea. Have I ever mentioned that my niece is an awesome cook?
