chiver - so glad your BP is doing ok now!!! bsboud - WOOHOO!!!!! sarcastic - congrats on the loss and you will definitely kick that half pound's @ss mizbear - hope you're ok from your fall, and really hoping everything goes well with your procedures OK ladies. I'm stuck at home today (and maybe even tomorrow) thanks to a winter ice storm. With the weather there is no way I will be able to take my boys for a walk for the next couple of days. Since I'm stuck inside, I am going to do my yoga goals for sure. But I was wondering if any of you have some suggestions for me...... I know you all do crunches, and lots of different types. What type would be best for the lower abdomen area? I am exercise illiterate so I figured I could spend the day with my best friend google learning how to do some. Also, I have an exercise ball. Any favorite exercises/websites you like the best for the ball? In the meantime, everybody stay warm because it is just absolutely gross out there!

Marion- I do reverse (lower ab) crunches- they are like this www.wikihow.com/Do-Reverse-CrunchesYou can get some steps inside- Half of my steps come from inside since this winter has been horrible. I either job in place or walk briskly in place usually moving a few steps forward and a few steps back. I usually do this while watching TV. I've been doing this everyday. It is the only way I can get 10,000-15,000 steps when we have subzero temps outside. I'm no help on the exercise ball though... sorry.

I got my pedometer yesterday! Need to figure it out and start wearing it. I was up a pound when I hopped on the scale this morning, blah. It's not my official weigh in day but I'm annoyed because i didn't eat that badly over the weekend. We went for italian food and I held back and ordered baked chicken and spaghetti instead of going for yummy things like lasagna or fettucine alfredo!

Alright ladies, Core Challenge on the 30s!
30 crunches 30 bicycles (1=both sides) OR oblique crunches (1= both sides) 30 bridges 30 seconds plank 30 seconds prone cobra
Chiver - yes, prone cobra is just laying on the floor with your arms by your sides then lifting your upper body off the floor using your back muscles - without using your arms.

So... The cold finally broke me. I found a great deal on airfare and I booked DH and I a trip to the Caribbean (St. Croix) Yeah, we leave Feb 28th! I can't believe we did it... but it was such a great deal. If everything goes as planned... this trip will cost half of what last year's trip cost! So, yeah... now i'm really going to work harder at my workouts!

Also- core challenge done, except the plank. I slept weird and my shoulder is killing me. The plank really hurt.

Good morning get fitters. Day 2 of being stuck inside because of stupid ice storm. Major props to those of you up north that have to deal with this every single day. sarcastic - thanks for the link! I spent about 30 minutes yesterday learning those. They were sooooo freaking hard! I think, by the time it was all said and done, I maybe completed 10 Will work on them again today though. Slowly but surely. Did lots of housework yesterday. Also went outside with the dogs every hour or two. Trying to see what the weather was doing and trying to get them to do their business. I watched a little tv last night and did the 3 steps forward 3 steps back trick. Also did my 15 minutes of yoga, so at least I made progress on one of my weekly goals. Plan for today is the same as for tomorrow - keep my butt OFF the couch. I'm over the housework, so maybe some organizing/decluttering. More yoga. Working on those crunches again. Will play with the exercise ball and the google too. And of course some wandering outside to take some pictures of this "historic" ice . Pretty much just anything I can think to do to avoid vegging out today. Seriously hoping I can get back to work tomorrow before I go stir crazy.

Yesterday I did some walking on the treadmill...but probably not enough to remedy the fact that I had the munchies at work and no healthy snacks. Oops. Note to self - need to stock desk with healthy snacks.

I brought 2 days of lunches to work (homemade chicken soup & homemade green chile stew) but ended up eating them both because a) I'm bored and b) I'm frozen Nice job, Kilroy

It's ok. Today I ate 2 cookies, a piece of cake and a piece of pizza, because apparently I am over actually achieving my goals. I also didn't manage to swim last night. MUST swim tonight, because see above...

Well, no surgery today- doctor's office was closed. SO I won't have that done until the end of February.
I am feeling better from my fall and I didn't bruise as bad as I expected.
Workout clothes:
Do oyu guys have favorite workout clothes or favorite brands? I was very picky about things when I was younger and smaller and then got much less picky about everything except my shoes after I put all of this weight on. However, I can't wear Mom's sweatpants anymore (her ladies Mediums fall down when I walk and I am not a fan of sweats anyway) and I don't wear my boxers out of the house. I am also considering switching to a crosstrainer with a high arch if I can find one that isn't all leather (I don't want the entire apartment to smell like my sneakers)
With warm weather coming, I need warm weather exercise clothes- in smaller sizes
I am eating like crap today. I am working on school work and even though I have caught up all of the laundry, the dishes, and am way ahead on my schoolwork, I have eaten chips and leftover wings....

Miz Bear, I'm glad you're feeling better & didn't do more serious damage. I hate ice and snow!!! DH had to walk me to the subway again this morning to make sure I didn't fall.
I can't help much with the workout clothes question; I wear Danskin bike shorts (well, they look like bike shorts but without the padded butt), and a variety of different tops. My favorite top was bought off the clearance rack at a local place and I actually tried to track down the company to see if I could get more, I love it that much. It's sleeveless and made of this really comfy soft cotton and I wish I had one for every day of the week. Unfortunately, the company went out of business, grrr.
Oh, and I may have eaten 2 lunches today, but I did go to spinning class yesterday. And the lunches weren't *that* bad, I guess.

though of course it is winter and I don't go outside so I'm usually in yoga pants or just gotten shorts and a tank top or whatever I feel like throwing on. I have been known to randomly take off a clothing item and throw it across the room while working out lol

mizbear - I work out in A REALLY GOOD SPORTS BRA and then some yoga or running pants. In the summer, shorts. I just wear whatever on top - right now usually a long sleeve shirt from a race made in one of those wicking materials, but also just one of DH's big t-shirts, a tank top, whatever.

Congrats to all of you doing so well!
Bsbound...I was hoping you were going to change it up feb 1! I hate core because I'm not good at it. I know, poor excuse. How about curls, squats, jumping jacks.....anything not core!

mizbear - I swear by C9 capris (Champion brand) and I buy them in-store at Target. I just looked for a link, but it doesn't look like they are available online. they are drawstring waist, come to just below the knee, and they don't shrink! the ones I have are all solid color with a maybe inch-wide white stripe down the side of each leg. I paid <$20/pair regular price, they would go on sale as low as $10. congrats to everyone that's making great progress! for me, I've been eating like an asshole the last couple days, and the scale shows. I'm also approaching water-weight week, so I'm hoping that's most of it (even though I know it isn't... ) the good news is that the salty carb cravings will go away, they are cyclical too. dinner tonight is going to be a grilled swordfish steak with a green salad. I'm drooling already

Amy - want to do the core challenge with us? Ya i'm in... so its still this: 30 crunches 30 bicycles (1=both sides) OR oblique crunches (1= both sides) 30 bridges 30 seconds plank 30 seconds prone cobra right? I didn't walk/jog my 4 miles on Monday... but I forced myself to do it Tuesday and I'm so glad I did. I felt awesome afterward. Since my long run was Tues, my treadmill jog will have to be Thursday... and bootcamp Friday because I have an event Saturday morning. I'm down for upper and lower body challenges. I just need to keep moving. I'm a little stressed from work. Our Event chair for Relay basically hasn't done anything for the past 4 months and we just found out a week before the event so I have a week to do EVERYTHING.... I'm stressed but i'll make it happen. I ate a huge bowl of ice cream when I came home with chocolate sauce and M&M's.... I guess I better go to that core workout now that i'm thinking more sane.

okay, ab thingy done.
I was doing cobra on the floor and my dog came over and spent all 30 seconds of it licking my face and i was trying not to laugh and get a frenchie or her tongue up my nose. When she stopped she blocked the timer so I probably got in a second or two extra... Unlucky for me, she had just eaten kibble and had kibble breath.
Here's a video for prone cobra. I just held it for 30 seconds while the dog licked me.

oof....I ate way too much at dinner - volume, not calories. dinner was 530 calories, the volume was a huge green salad. I am going to try to remember to do tonight's challenge in the morning before I go to work, and then I'll do tomorrow's stuff tomorrow night. not ideal, I know, but just the thought of doing crunches right now makes me queasy.

Still no work tomorrow due to the ice so another day at home This will be 3 in a row, ugh. Anyways, did take a nap on the couch today. But, I was pretty wore down and it wasn't a long all day nap. Did get my yoga done and goofed around with the exercise ball. Still trying to find some things I like and I can do without busting my butt (I'm a tad bit uncoordinated). Going to work on those crunch thingys again tonight too. At least doing some stuff is keeping me in the right frame of mind. ambellamy - yeah, when I try to do floor exercises my boys think it's play time. I don't think they understand the word exercise. Should be warm enough to take the doggies for a walk tomorrow though and I can't freaking wait! They will be soooooo excited!

bsbound - I wear Adidas Capri pants. I got most of them at Marshall's for maybe $15-ish each. And then I just wear a sports bra and a t-shirt on top.

I didn't mention this... But the scale has been a bastard all week. Of course the week of final weigh in when I had only 0.5 pound to go. Seriously if I don't make it I will cry. I have had a 700-1000 calorie deficit every day.

I have C9 yoga pants that I love. I try to avoid drawstrings, but yes, I love C9. I wish I was still small enough on top to wear a sports bra.... I wear a lot of Hanes, Faded Glory and Old Navy tank tops
sarcastic- I throw clothing too- hence why I need workout clothing- Mr. Bear has not earned seeing the strip drama thing yet
