Walked outside with the stroller on Saturday and Sunday, and I carted C around in the Ergo between the car and the coliseum at the basketball game we went to on Saturday night. Oh, and between the parking garage and the restaurant for dinner beforehand. Hopefully that helps offset the fact that we hosted a breakfast play date on Saturday morning and had homemade cinnamon rolls.

Hey guys, I didn't have internet all weekend. Catching up...
Happy prose - whatever, mountain climbers totally count! We're not core challenge nazis!
ners - shoveling, the exercise of the northerner...
Kilroy - What sarcastic said. *Hugs* Also, are you tracking your calories at all? One of the dangers of upping your exercise levels is that you may just eat more calories to compensate. It might be worth it to track your food for a week or so to see what your intake is and then figure out a plan?
Marionth - WAY TO GO! Those are awesome results, and I totally agree that the little goals are the way to go. As I posted, ad nauseum, last week...
Chiver - To err is human, to starve yourself is stupid.
Sarcastic - Glad you're feeling better!

acemom - you had the weekend off in the big city - who would bother to exercise. Hoping the water does good things for you today.
tcu - Carrying babies places totally counts as working out. If you were carrying a 25lb dumbell strapped to your chest you wouldn't even question if it was exercise!

BSB- still no internet? stupid comcast! They came out, repaired a cable, gave us a new modem. Actually tech was really awesome. Then 20 min later it started messing up again. And last night we found out it affects the on-demand too. I'm scared we're going to have to recable the whole house - oh, and the cable line goes underground through our backyard, so if the damage is there, I don't know what we're going to do, because we sure as shit can't dig it up right now...

UGH! what a pain. Hopefully it is something that isn't so bad. We were without cable and internet for 2 weeks in Dec. Comcast tech's came out 3 times before someone figured out what was wrong. Before that they were talking about re-running the cable etc. *crossing fingers that it is an easy repair*

Alright, so here's my report in:
I did a big fat nothing this weekend. I only did core challenge one night. I blew off two days of exercise - we didn't even clean the house at all. We went to the grocery store, etc., but mostly laid around doing not much of anything.
With the result that I am down 2 lbs! Conclusion: I really was working out too much. Unfortunate 2nd conclusion: all my muscle is melting into fat.
Following that line of logic, I'm going to keep to less working out and keep the focus on my diet until the end of Feb. Do my weights only 1x a week. Then begin the workouts again and get that muscle back! Being incented on pounds sucks!
Also, DH used a new spice packet on the chicken this week and it's been making me retain water like crazy. Last night before dinner, I was noticing how loose my wedding ring was. This morning I could barely get it off my finger. So, next batch back to the previous spice concoction and we'll hope that helps the weight as well!

Okay. I was feeling horrible on Sunday (cramps, bloating) so I didn't do my run. I'm much better today so I get to do my 4 miles later on. I'll weigh myself next Monday and see if there is any change.
So for my weekly plan:
Today i'll do my 4 mile walk run this afternoon... (Probably Abs and pushups too) Wed i'll do my 30 minute treadmill jog... and Friday I'll do bootcamp again since I can't make my Saturday class.

I had my followup appointment this morning, and boy do I have great news - my blood pressure was 120/82. I didn't believe it, we took it 3 times to make sure. that is actually lower than it was the last time it checked out okay. I have another followup in 2 weeks, just as a sanity check to make sure today wasn't some fluke reading. so, lesson learned - my body does not do well with Paleo. I've gotten the okay to resume normal activities.....so I will be joining y'all in the core challenge now, starting tonight. sent from my electronic distraction

Ok, Core Challenge!
We're on 29's today: 29 crunches 29 oblique crunches/bicycles 29 bridges 29 second plank 29 second prone cobra
So, just so everyone can weigh in, here are my thoughts about core challenge: essentially, pretty soon it's going to take too much time to keep just adding one- I think one of the great things about core challenge is it only takes a few minutes. So once we get to a certain number, say 60, I was thinking we could change up exercises? Like next time, instead of oblique crunches we could do sidebends or windmills, stuff like that - similar muscle targets, different exercise. Am happy to take suggestions or just figure out the next exercises myself - participants let me know what you think!

I just realized that I have been doing my core challenge a little differently. I do: bicycle crunches lower ab crunches bridges reg. plank knee plank I am going to keep with it though, since that is how I started. And i'll sync up when we change up. I have a great book at home that has strength workouts for women, I'll take a look tonight and get some ideas. In the meantime, this link is informative and amusing- look at the little guy go! www.iwantsixpackabs.com/bodyweight/core_exercises.html

Just thought I'd throw it out there... anyone interested in an Upper Body Challenge and Lower body challenge?
It wouldn't be daily like the core challenge but 2-3 times a week. I'm going to start these next week.

I didn't pay attention when y'all first started talking about it, since I wasn't doing anything last week. - is that oblique crunches *or* bicycles? how do you count your bicycles - 1 = one from each leg? - is a bridge a backbend bridge? - what is a prone cobra? thanks

I finally put the recipe from yesterday's pot of tortellini soup into MFP and calc'd out the calories per serving - a whopping 183 calories/serving. so um, I'm just going to leave the link in here too I posted it in the "what's for dinner?" thread yesterday. tortellini soupthe tweaks I made were to use chicken broth instead of beef (personal taste) and my seasonings were different to accommodate the change of broth. my $1 bag of frozen veggies had a little more variety than the 1c of each of whatever's called for, too. hope y'all like it as much as I do. I am absolutely making this again!

Good morning all. I did my core challenge last night. Scale is still not being kind, but I made a ginormous pot of vegetable soup last night and will be eating that mostly all week! My stomach is still not feeling 100% - I still feel really bloated and have indigestion/reflux issues. I think I started eating fairly healthy and then ruined it with junk over the weekend and my belly is revolting. Plus, it's my TOM, so feeling overly bloated from that.
Mizbear - hope you're ok! I am so over this weather...
Sarcastic - count me in for the upper/lower challenge.
Chiver - that soup sounds really good! I will have to try that! Glad you got your BP back down. That's scary

Hey all - lazy night again last night, apart from core challenge. Going to go swimming tonight, I think. Scale down again this morning to 176. That means 1) I cracked the 30 lb loss! (Actually 31, so awesome!) 2) DH and I only have a couple pounds each (2 for him, 4 for me) to lose before we hit our goal!!! I'm ready to do the happy dance. If we can hit the goal before Feb 28, I can resume workouts sooner! ...Also, my dad mentioned he expects DH and I to lose an extra 10 lbs each by the time we go to the caribbean. I told him further negotiations were available... for a ski trip next winter.
