I would like to be down to 120-150 when my reunion hits this summer. I realize that it will be a lot of work, but I am ready!
I have been working on healthy meals and exercise routines.
Plus I have a weight loss buddy in Mr. Bear, who doesn't need to lose as much as I do, but needs to lose a few
How does myfitnesspal work? I have heard about it and someone explained it to me, but please again...

Go Miz Bear! You can do it! Sorry I can't fill you in on MyFitnessPal; I haven't investigated that yet. On another note, just found out that the awesome Dove hot chocolate they have for FREE at the office has only 80 calories per serving - whoo hoo! (Don't worry, I'm not going to go totally nuts )

Kilroy, I think they only need verification (video weigh in) if the amount of weight you post as a loss is really high. And as far as I can tell, shorts and a t-shirt would work for photo check in. It does say tsa approved clothing, whatever that means! I'll message you the link just so you can check it out. As of now, the pot is now up to $11350!!! I'd like a piece of that pie!!
As for my fitness pal, it's a free app and website that you can use to track food eaten and calories burned. What I like about it is that there is a scanner for the app where you can scan the barcode of the package of whatever you are eating and it will add it into your food diary for you. It also has most food at restaurants do you can add those.in.to! The program will track not only calories, but fat, carbs, sodium and all that fun stuff. There are also sub- boards, challenges, and other topics that you can get extra support or ideas from. :-)

120?!? I weighed just below that when I was in college. Unfortunately, I have a picture taken at that time, that makes me look like I had an eating disorder.
Now I call myself "fluffy". I just want to find some middle ground. And feel good about where I'm at. I definitely need to get exercise, at least walking, back into my regular routine. I'm about 18 pounds lower than my "post pregnancy" weight, but would like to do better.

Hi Busy, and welcome! From your posts on other boards I always imagine you not needing to worry about exercise because of all the running around you do :-) But maybe in all that running around for other people you need to carve out some time for you? Whatever you decide you need t do, this group is really supportive and will cheer you along.

I am short- I was 98 pounds when I graduated high school, 95 when I married the first time, 98 the second, and somewhere around 100-105 the third. I am kind of taking the middle ground of recommended height/weight ratios because I am small framed but very busty.
Now if I can shake this stomach bug so I can eat real food again....

Thanks Kilroy! The days I'm on my feet I seem to do o.k. But the days I have to do a lot of driving I can actually put on a pound or two. Mom always warned me that after age 30, a person's metabolism gets all wonky.

I'm here too - continuing on from the 2013 thread! It looks like I will have lost about 30 lbs total in 2013, and have 15 to go by the end of Feb to meet my goal (and a free trip to the carribean, courtesy of my father.) DH has 20 to go for the same goal. In the new year, we are both getting serious and going no-alcohol for 2 months. My diet has been working (let's ignore the last two weeks, shall we...) and my exercise routine too. Just have to keep that up and I should make the goal of 175 by end of Feb! And then I have 25 more to go... If I can hang out at 150 and a size 8/10, I'll be happy. Not "thin," but happy...

I think 150 at 8/10 would make you thin... just not "skinny" We're about the same height if I remember correctly? I'm 5'5" I'm ready to be really serious about making progress, my stupid foot is hurt so I need a workout that is upper body today. I'm thinking boxing without the foot shuffling, core stuff and hand weights. hopefully my foot will be better tomorrow!

Keep it up, everyone! (we need a cheerleader smiley, but I settled for a dancing banana ) My goals for 2014: Add a weights/body weight routine to my exercise regimen Mix up my cardio with spinning classes and maybe a bootcamp class 1 day a week Stop spending money on junk (pastries, chocolate, chips when I want something crunchy) See how I look/feel at 125 lbs., push it down to 120 if I decide to

I started using my fitbit flex on August 12. My first goal will be to have 2 million steps by February 12, 2014.
Currently 1,513,307 steps total lifetime steps

I started tracking my food again today. I use sparkpeople. I also used my kettle bells twice, and today I went to my husband's gym with him. I'll be sore tomorrow. Truthfully, just the two days of the kettle bell workout kicked my butt. I've been a walker for years, but now need more!

once I'm finished with the holiday leftovers (I've given most of it all away, but still have a couple meals left) I am going paleo for a few weeks. so many friends have gotten amazing results from sticking with that for awhile, I'm not sure if I will be making the permanent lifestyle change just yet....but what I've learned from restrictive diets like this is that in the past, it's gotten me to break some very unhealthy cravings and food habits. I'm hoping I accomplish the same this time I am going skiing again tomorrow, and plan to go again on Thursday or Friday. I'm off work all week.

I'm going to the gym tomorrow & am determined to do my first spinning class in a bazillion years on Tuesday. We still have a bunch of leftovers & I was gifted a lot of junk food or access to same (Starbucks card). And I'm meeting friends for afternoon tea tomorrow (not exactly healthy).
It's all about balance, right?

grrr I love my post chiver78 I am going paleo- well, primal... since I will keep limited-ish dairy in my daily diet. I function so well at 80-90% primal diet. I am starting now. the first 2 weeks are the hardest.

the first 3 weeks of any restrictive diet are the hardest, that's when the cravings are all broken. I guess I should probably say "primal" too then, b/c while I will avoid obvious dairy when I happen to be eating out, I'm not going to flip if there is butter in a finishing sauce, for instance. I already keep almond and soy milk and earth balance "butter" in my house b/c my sis is dairy-free. I just need to remember to bring a carton of soy milk to the office to go with....oh wait, nevermind - no oatmeal on paleo. I don't drink much coffee either, so that's not a big worry.

I've toyed with the idea for awhile, but never could decide if it would be a good tool. That's a lot of steps!!!!!

acemom I like my fitbit flex. I was wearing a pedometer to get points for wellness program at work. The fitbit works like the pedometer did however is less visible. With the pedometer I had to upload the information the flex syncs with the wellness program no need to remember. I received the flex as a present. I really did not look into all the different devices since I knew this one worked with my wellness program.

Ran out of gas on the elliptical after 30 mins today, but signed up for spinning tomorrow (and I will go), plus plotted out a workout schedule for January.

Holy goodness! That's a lot of skiing! Way to GO!
Primal eating today has gone well except for the handful of dove peppermint candies. Chicken and veggies planned for tonight.

we got out on the mountain at probably 9AM, broke for lunch (breakfast for me, I never ate before we left) at 11. my friend stayed in the lodge a little longer after lunch - today was her first day skiing in about 15 years, she said. she'll be feeling it tomorrow! - and I went back out again. I am in nowhere near as good shape as I was when I was skiing all the time, but I could already feel myself getting back in the groove today vs. Christmas day. I foresee an expensive winter coming up, because I'm going to be skiing a LOT. thinking about dinner now....I'm really craving Chinese food. chicken w/broccoli isn't all that awful for you, is it?

If i torched 1500+ calories skiing and only had one meal so far, i'd go for the chinese. unless the breakfast was some crazy 2000 calorie meal lol

chili and french fries? oh, and a beer. I'm not even hungry yet, but I know I'm not cooking tonight. I'm putting my feet up and relaxing after my nice hot shower!

I'm going to have to be a few days into 2014 before getting back into good eating habits. We still have way too much holiday food around the house.

I did it! I survived my first spinning class in years! Actually, I think I did better than just survive :-) Didn't burn as many calories as I'd hoped for, but it's a good way to mix up my cardio.
Busy, I hear you on the holiday leftovers, DH and I are doing a tapas type dinner tonight to eat up the leftovers.

Count me in as needing to get back on the horse - I probably have 10 pounds to lose, so not too much. I also exercise but not as much as I want to. My goal is to run a half marathon this year. There's one on Mother's day, so theoretically I have time to work up to it. I can run 3 miles right now, no problem, and I've run 10ks in the past... but I really hate running. lol so working my way up to a half is a seriously big deal to me.
Anyways, that's my goal.
