My husband is going to be very, very disappointed. my husband won't. He's been out of town sin friday and I am jumping his bones when he gets home and I plan to never birth a child. And if that is a sin, so be it. I also made a charitable donation today so it balances out. Sent from my Nexus 4 using proboards Freudian Slip?

I think those of us who are going to discuss it don't take the bible literally. Those that do, don't discuss it all that often here as the bible literalists are a minority as active posters go.

We will never know for sure what those people 2000 year ago were trying to say or even if what we're reading is even CLOSE to the words they put down. I chose to keep that in mind whenever references to the bible are made. I suggest to brush up on your Aramaic.

I'm good for a month of nonprocreatory sex, some oral sex, one homosexual hook up, a few dissing my parents, one lustful look at one of the court security guards, and working on Sunday.

Sex is not a sin in the confines of marriage, procreation or not. I kinda get why promiscuity made the list. Between women needing support to provide for children, men wanting to assure their paternity and the spread of STD's with various partners I get why monogamy is recommended. Still a bit lost on the problem with homosexuality.

Okay, I'm definitely going to hell. I've spent 30+ years having non-procreational intimacy with my husband. To answer the OP, I would 1) keep my child, 2) keep God, and 3) ditch organized religion. Oh wait - I already did that .

Sex is a gift from God given for the confines of marriage and procreation. If you want to read more, read the Bible. The Bible clearly speaks of homosexual practices as sin. Why? You will have to ask God. He made the rules. so are all the heterosexual couples who are incapable of conceiving expected to remain celibate for their whole lives? I'm sorry, but I just cannot wrap my brain around this particular "reason" to explain why homosexuality is a sin. I didn't write the Bible so I don't have to give you any "reason". But, it would be just as sinful according to the Bible for your son to be living out of wedlock with his girlfriend or something like that. So, why homosexuality is singled out , I don't know. Both would be equally sinful according to the Bible but I do agree we tend to excuse one and overly focus on the other.

It would just as wrong to live with someone or whatever. Fornication is fornication and unmarried sex no matter who or what. Or, whatever your particular fetish of the month is Archie.

Wow - there's a whole lot of sinful people walking the Earth then. All those couples living together and/or are sexually active without a little piece of paper are going to Hell, I guess.
And FWIW, the Christian religion is not the only religion on this planet. Some of those other religions seek their spirituality from a different god or deity and follow a different set of "laws" than you might follow.
There are also people who have no structured belief system. Are they doomed to eternal Hell as well, because it's not the Christian religion and they don't follow the book that you do? Some religions honor the earth's elements - think of the Native American's before the settlers landed and started to "convert" the savages.
Or many of the tribes in Africa - who have their own religions. Buddhists? Hindus? Many of these religions also worship idols or 'graven images'.
Hell's got to be getting pretty crowded if that's the case.

I have always thought the religion most people follow today (or lack there of) was determined by their parents' religious beliefs and where on earth (geographically) they were born. That tells me there is nothing special about one religion over another.

First of all this is a translation and the verbage is different depending on what you read. Many theologians translate the hebrew to literally mean prostitution and not homosexuality. Couldn't a shamless act between a man and a man just being promiscuity. Could it be the act is shameless because it is not in wedlock and not because it is another man? Not to mention that unnatural sex at the time included such things as during memstruation and with uncircumcised penises, etc.... Those passeges in no way, even in their translations of translations, say that bring gay is aginst God...

I would never pick a "maybe" that you only know about after death over the living breathing child of mine standing in front of me. I'll take the living person in front of me who needed my help now, over the possibly fictional one after death
I'm not going to turn my back on my son for an idea that no one has any real proof about. My son is worth more to me than a "belief" in a "maybe".

All I know is that i"m gonna be pissed if the after life consists of just laying in a pine box for all of eternity with nothing to do... you'll have some bugs for company...which is the entire reason I'm going to be cremated. I can't even with the idea of being in a box, under the dirt, with bugs. Just no. Plus I made my kiddo promise to put his share of my ashes in an urn where I can see the tv.

We found out a while ago that there are services to turn cremation ashes into diamonds now, in a variety of colors and carats. I looked at DH and told him it sort of puts a new meaning on "family heirlooms." You can pass along your mother. Not your mother's favorite necklace or ring, literally, your mother arrayed on a necklace or set on a ring. Might even get a whole family tree representing on one huge multi-strand draping necklace. You could point to each gem, and say "there's great uncle Mark, that blue one is Great Grandma J..." etc. Mom always said she wanted to be in an urn on a mantle too, so she could stick around. But now she says she likes the idea of being diamonds and going to parties better. She's going to need grand kids who like parties for that though...
