You do know the IRS pays tipsters, right? Philly can't be THAT big, it wouldn't take too long for someone to figure out who you are if this is real. And you don't exactly come across as the most warm and friendly person so I don't think it would take too much to piss of someone enough that they would sell you out. For $$. www.irs.gov/uac/Whistleblower-Informant-Award

If a lawyer walks in during the middle of a police interrogation, shut the fuck up, is probably the single best piece of legal advice they can give their client. If more dumbasses would keep their traps shut in front of the police, in front of the judge and jury, and on Facebook, there would be less of them in prison right now. So much this!

Great. Archie since I'm just reading this thread today perhaps you can explain Loony's $200K/yr. minus expenses to me. I get the minus $48K for salaries, $48K business bills, but remain curious about the rest including $300/wk food and supporting 4 families. Thx. I'll help you out since the thread has once again gotten off-track. (Shocking, right?) Looney thinks she earns $200k annually, although that math doesn't work out given what she says. We think it's closer to $159k gross ($48k salaries, $48k biz expenses, $48k to the Looney family, and $15k food taken by Looney) The $300 weekly is the cash value of all the food Looney takes home for her family, off the books. She doesn't think the IRS cares or should care. The 4 families, I think, refers to her paying employees, thus supporting their families. This would probably be included in the $4k salaries. Although if she's paying a total of $4k monthly in salary to 4 employees, I'm pretty sure no families can actually be supported on that. "Contributed to" is a more accurate term.

Thanks Rocky. The $48K to the Looney family is the draw used to pay her housing/mortgage I guess?

Loony, I like you and want you to succeed. Maybe you should give some thought to the possibility that there may be problems with you taking food home and how you account (or don't) for it. No point in asking for trouble unnecessarily.

No point in asking for trouble unnecessarily. Pink, I think the problem is that she's past the point of asking. She's been doing this for awhile. That ship has sailed into international waters, the music is playing and the drinking is underway, so to speak. She does not understand that there is, and has been, tax ramifications for doing this, every year she's done it, that could not only result in her having to pay back state and federal taxes, but also having to pay back benefits she got for EITC, CHIP and student financial aid. She thinks SHE owns the food. She does not. The business owns the food, and as such, the value has to be accounted for as a business expense. You cannot just eat your stock because you bought it. It was not bought as a personal consumption item, and cannot be consumed that way. Mind you, I'm directing this at Loony, not you. I know YOU get it.

Ask the federal judge in your tax evasion case to send you to prison down here. Our weather is better than yours. Oh, it's a taxpayer-funded ticket.

Pink, nevermind it dear, I had been telling the story, people were amuzed, spitting on monitors etc. I said it but no one WANTED to pay attention when I said several times I PAID FOR FOOD! Everyone automatically assuming the worse and running having fun with it. I don't mind. GTG, later...

Or did you pay the supplier with business funds? Because you've made it sound like the latter, which is why everyone is saying you've got some tax issues.

My face is exhausted from all the being in it... Well...I am not good about all this 'wording' but I meant I am paying $4K home bills, $4k biz bills, $4+K salaries monthly. 12x12=$144K per year of the money I am getting...somewhere... Plus I take food home every day from the store. It is at least $300 per week. YEP! I am feeding colledge kids as well and I like to splurge on seafood. Another $15K. Plus my some other expenses. It is roughly $200K per year that I am getting...somewhere, right? I am assuming it is what profit is, no? This is where taking food home was first mentioned, I think. Maybe what loony means is that the store is doing so well that she can afford to spend $300/wk on food and she just chooses to BUY the food from her store, and that's why she keeps saying she paid for it. Is that right loony? Please say "yes"!

My pleasure. They're fluffy urban fantasy, not even remotely deep or thought provoking, but they're fun.

Is that right loony? Please say "yes"! Ok, dear, just for you... I do not play 'store' with my husband, I do not wait in line to pay for the food I take home BUT I do not take ANY cash from my register to use for my personal needs. Let's say I had earned $500 cash. I will not take a penny from it and use it for anything but business needs! So if I had time I could take my cash, pay me $100 and pay for the food. Instead I am taking everything to the bank and paying me salary from there. ...time to go see if lobster tails are on sale! And that is also right: she can afford to spend $300/wk on food and she just chooses to BUY the food from her store... it is just convenience. No time for supermarkets...

Loony, people are concerned for you because if you're not charging anything for those groceries or writing them off on a ledger somewhere, then you could possibly be committing Federal Tax Evasion.
(Makes sure her response is under two sentences)

Just out of curiosity, why do you feel that it would be wrong to take money from the register for your personal needs, but that it's not wrong to take inventory from the store (preventing money from going into the register) for your personal needs? (Look! One sentence!)

I just watched that press conference. Basically they can keep the policies for a year but they are pretty much just catastrophic insurance policies with no actual health care coverage.

The plans are being discontinued because they don't meet the minimum requirements, correct? I'll never understand why people are clinging to sub-par plans...

The plans are being discontinued because they don't meet the minimum requirements, correct? I'll never understand why people are clinging to sub-par plans... I have one of those "sub-par" plans and I'm clinging to it because it provides me great coverage at a great price. I neither need - nor want to pay for - maternity coverage, full no-charge coverage for preventative visits (yes, that's nice, but you pay more to insurance than it costs just to pay for the preventative care in this case), etc. My plan is not sub-par and I did a lot of research before picking it out. I like it and it is annoying that someone wants to "protect" me by making me pay twice as much for things I do not want or need.
