Why am I feeling that there is annoying insect flying around me and I want to swat it and I can't...DARN! And mostly I am feeling it is just annoying and useless and buzzing and buzzing... It's just the delusions. It's all in your head. Don't worry about it- seems to be the motto.

Let's back up a bit.
Looney, when you and your husband decided to open the store, did you register the business with the state of Pennsylvania? Does your store have a federal tax ID number?

But I have been with this board since about 1999. And I'm an accountant. I'm trying to help you. I didn't ask you WHAT your tax ID number was, I'm asking if you registered the business and received a federal tax ID number.

Furthermore, she's perfectly welcome to post, and to ask questions of anyone she wishes.

$15,000 of seafood per year is not the same as one bowl of soup on a cold day. It's roughly 10% of your revenue that you're taking home to eat. And yes, to answer your question, rotten food should be recorded so you don't pay extra taxes on stuff you couldn't sell. Seriously. YOU KNOW HOW MUCH FOOD I THREW AWAY in 4 years? More than I ate! For sure! Especially in the summer. Also how do you prove I threw out that much? Weight it and WHEW! How do I weight rotten stuff So, considering that I had never written off my trash I am cleared and free to go? And do not forget how much food I give away as gifts and never wrote it off...so you guys pretty much...screwed with all of your 'jail time' crap! Oh dear god.....

Ok, I'll just keep going. Assuming you did register your business with the state, you would have received a federal tax ID number. This number is kind of like your social security number. It means that the government considers your business an entity separate from yourself. Just as you and your husband file taxes with your social security numbers, so the government can identify you, you also need to file taxes for the business, using the tax ID number. (see Dark's post above re: filing quarterly and annual taxes). Because you and your business are separate entities, you cannot mix your personal income (which seems to be partly a salary you pay yourself and partly food from the store) with the revenue, then profit, of the store. This is why everyone is saying you either need to purchase your food with cash that you give to the store, or you need to declare the value of it on your PERSONAL income taxes. No, YOU did not buy the food. The business (with it's federal tax ID number) did. If you are not keeping everything separate, and not paying taxes on everything appropriaately, that is tax fraud and it is against the law. The government takes tax fraud very, VERY seriously. You also need to know that it does not matter that you don't understand this. Sooner or later you will come up for audit, and you will face huge fines and possibly prison time. If you did NOT register your business with the state, you have another problem on your hands, as you are likely operating illegally. There are some types of businesses (such as certain home businesses or consulting jobs) that you would not necessarily need to register, but you are running a retail organization - I can't imagine that the state doesn't require a license for it. Please check out www.SBA.gov for some information.

Is it possible to have worse hair? I could stick a mop on my head and make it look better than his rug.

Ok, I'll just keep going. And there I stop you. Mind you dear, I do not read posts longer than 2 sentences. So if you want to say something to ME (not anyone else, hhmm, just me) - please, do not waste your time past 2 short sentenses. Thanks

Me? What do I know about business? I've only been faking it for a couple months. Besides, I have a face for radio.
Ignorant isn't a protected class, yet. So they can be exploited for good TV whenever with no repercussions.
