I really thought we were going to make it this year without another financial setback. We even bet on it by upgrading our cell phones (although we went to a cheaper prepaid plan) and buying a used camper ($1500, so not extravagant, but probably not money we should have spent). Then DH's issues have come back. He has kept a lot of it from me, so don't know exactly what is going on, except he hurts.
Then Sunday morning I went to Urgent care for blood in my diarrhea. I had a CT scan, x-ray, and then was admitted to the hospital where I have been since Sunday night. The diarrhea has not stopped so on to a colonoscopy this afternoon.
I'm sick of this. I am sick of our medical problems leaving us with no extra money. I'll more than likely have to shellout $2500 to meet my max out of ppocket for the year. This week in the hospital is going to take almost all of my PTO for the rest of the year. So our plans for Christmas now have to change.
Anyway I just need to vent a bit. Sorry for any typos. My phone is a bit wonky.

*hugs* I hope they figure out what is going on soon. With any luck you've got a sensitive stomach and internal hemorrhoids (like that actually sounds lucky). Will be thinking of you and the family.

Muttley- so sorry you've been having to deal with all of this. Fingers crossed they figure something out soon for you. Also hoping that DH's issues aren't to serious and won't require further surgery.

FWIW I think you've been doing great. I'd be in the looney bin by now if I was you. Hope they figure out what's up soon and you're discharged before you know it.

-hug-So sorry to hear this. Best wishes to both you and your husband. Keep us posted. I heard some really bad parasite was going around and making people have severe stomach issues but I am assuming they probably checked all that out already. Keep us posted.

Thanks I was doing ok about it. But last night they separated me and my roommate. They said it was to clean our room. But it was only hours after we were told to quiet down. So I'm now with a senior citizen who snores instead of someone my age who jokes with me.

Can you make jokes about the snoring? Like your roommate purrs?

This sucks!! I gotta tell you - with everything you had/have going on, I thought you'd have a bleeding ulcer by now.
Anywhooo, I am so sorry you are going through this.
Also, I was just reading a report about some stomach bug that has been going around for a about a month that does give you upset stomach - I forget the name - but it was on the news a few days ago. It's suppose to be a pretty strong virus that can last a month. Hopefully, they tested you for that as well

Wait, you mean you didn't spend Sunday night checking out the cheapest restaurants near the hospital? In all seriousness, I really hope they figure out what's going on soon* and can get you on the road to recovery. And I hope your DH's issues flare back down. I can't imagine what sort of stress you're both under right now. Hopefully you can work the PTO issue out with your boss... you seem to put in a ton of extra hours during crunch times, so maybe he'll cut you some slack around the holidays. *(and maybe it'll be something for which you can sue and get a big tax-free settlement )

No no no, she should have known this could happen and already had a list ready of all available hosptials in the area and their rates and then pick the cheapst one on the way to the ER.

I'm sure she's passing the time in the hospital making a spreadsheet of the nearest restaurants and collecting coupons for them. And negotiating her bill at the hospital. Isn't that what all good YM'ers do when they are hospitalized?

Well I go in with a spreadsheet full of surgeries and prices points. If they can't give me an appendectomy at the price I am willing to pay then I am fully prepared to walk!

Sorry to hear this, I can totally relate to medical expenses derailing you. Ours just don't quit this year either, I can't believe how fast they rack up, it totally wiped out our car replacement fund and other savings. Sometimes I don't want to even go to the mailbox. And we have "good" insurance! I thought once we hit the max OOP life would be better. Nope. Copays are still eating us alive.

I hope you get better soon... Can you take unpaid time off for Christmas or make up your time? With all that's happening I am sure you can use some time off. Also, do you have short term disability? The way mine works is it kicks in right away without a waiting period if I am hospitalized.

If you were a proper YM-er you'd have built up the knowledge to do it yourself, saving even more money.

Thanks guys. I needed the laugh. The bad thing from the work side of things was this week was crunch time. We were behind and really needed a great week to keep clients happy. Instead I've been out of commission. I'm pretty sure this is worse than maternity leave for my boss. Since there was no warning. I do have my laptop, but have had no energyto break Iit out.

Make your snoring roommate do your work. It's the least she can do for being so loud.

You guys have it all wrong. The MOST cost effective thing to do is a marathon viewing of House. Now ideally you'd be able to pick these up from freecycle or borrow them from a neighbor since it isn't on Netflix. You can pay $1.99 per episode to watch it on Amazon Prime but given that there were like 10 season I'd recommend you carefully read the episode summary to see if the episode's medical crisis shares any common symptoms with you.
Personally one of my closest friends is a surgeon so I trade kitchen table surgeries for babysitting. So na na na boo boo

I hope they figure it out soon. I'm sorry the new roommate sucks.
Medical bills are no fun, especially when they keep coming in and they didn't fix you.

On a weird comparative note, this is the same hospital that I had the kids in and DH had his back surgery. The maternity ward was single rooms and order any food at anytime. DH's room was a double in the old part of the hospital with mo choice of meals. My current room is a double in the new part with your choice of food (except I have been on clear liquids since arriving). But my ward is a lock down ward with a visitors badge required to open the doors!
