I'm so sorry, muttley! You've got to feel pretty darned miserable at this point. I hope the colonoscopy is able to pinpoint the problem so it can be corrected. I'm just sorry you're both going through what you are right now. Sometimes, it seems like the aheader we go, the behinder we get!

sweetie, I know you are a great employee and have a really good relationship with your boss and always, always do your best for the clients. But right now, they can all SUCK IT. You are in the hospital. The hospital. There is no need for you to do any work. The only "work" you should be doing is resting, recuperating, and getting better. PERIOD.

On a weird comparative note, this is the same hospital that I had the kids in and DH had his back surgery. The maternity ward was single rooms and order any food at anytime. DH's room was a double in the old part of the hospital with mo choice of meals. My current room is a double in the new part with your choice of food (except I have been on clear liquids since arriving). But my ward is a lock down ward with a visitors badge required to open the doors! Mutt is in the mental health unit................

There is your solution for your roommate. Push her out the doors without a badge.

Haha! DH's doc did send him to a psychiatrist for his pain this time. As for this roommate, she hasn't been awake long enough to go to the bathroom since they moved me

Hugs, hope they find out what's wrong.
Right there with you. My husband had a Pulmonary Embolism last Tuesday. He spent 5 days in PCU. They did a procedure where they went in behind his knee to break up the clot that went all the way to his pelvis. Not looking forward to that bill.
My daughter has been in therapy for anxiety for almost a year now.
Just when I think we will be able to catch up something else happens.
My husband thinks he will be going back to work on Monday. I don't think so. He still can not walk on his leg that has DVT. We've gone through all his vacation time and he just filled out the paper work for short term disability on his year anniversary last month. So we are not even sure he will get that if he has to stay off of work.
We do have some savings, but after hospital bills and depending on how long he has to be out and whether he gets paid or not will probably wipe our savings out.
I'm looking for a part time job right now to work on my days off.

Mutt, any diagnosis yet? What about symptoms - have they improved? I read about this when you posted it on the other thread, so I'm just concerned. Hope they figure it out soon and it's not serious! Have you been tested for Lyme disease? (Sorry if you've already mentioned that.)

It could be worse....you could be stuck in the hospital with no access to YM. I feel you on medical bills. BTDT got the tshirt (or should I say, small 401k). The only thing worse than medical bills is worrying about the actual health issues. Take care of yourself. The rest will work itself out.

Have you been tested for Lyme disease? (Sorry if you've already mentioned that.) No diagnosis yet. I'm not sure what all they had tested me for, I just know it has all been negative. The colonoscopy is set for late this afternoon. Hopefully that will show something. It started with stomach cramps Saturday morning, diarrhea started Saturday afternoon. By Sunday morning my stools were basically all blood. So I called the nurses line and they said go to the ER. I chose urgent care instead. I've been on IV fluids and antibiotics since. The diarrhea has slowed but not stopped. The stomach pain has stopped. Nauseacomes and goes, but that may be due to tthe aantibiotics. My mom is on her way down for the weekend to see if she can help.

"The only thing worse than medical bills is worrying about the actual health issues." Don't worry about medical bills right now. Worry about your health. Medical bills can wait and they can be on a payment plan. Hopefully they can diagnose and treat soon.

Thanks for the update! Hope you're feeling better soon!
I can't believe it's still going on for this long, though. Could it be a severe case of food poisoning? I've read about some powerful, antibiotic-resistent strains recently. Well, I know the doctors are looking at everything possible, so we'll leave it to the professionals.

They've been treating it like I had a virus or bacteria that is now out of my body but left a poison behind.

Yeah.....well acquainted with medical bills here. After I thought I was done paying bills from last year's medical misadventure, I got hit with my surgeon's bill last month. $3500 is what I now owe for both him and his assistant's services. I'm kinda pissed in that this surgery was done in October and it took my insurance company until June to pay their 50% first.
With all the bills I received, it was easy to miss one.....

I really thought we were going to make it this year without another financial setback. We even bet on it by upgrading our cell phones (although we went to a cheaper prepaid plan) and buying a used camper ($1500, so not extravagant, but probably not money we should have spent). Then DH's issues have come back. He has kept a lot of it from me, so don't know exactly what is going on, except he hurts. Then Sunday morning I went to Urgent care for blood in my diarrhea. I had a CT scan, x-ray, and then was admitted to the hospital where I have been since Sunday night. The diarrhea has not stopped so on to a colonoscopy this afternoon. I'm sick of this. I am sick of our medical problems leaving us with no extra money. I'll more than likely have to shellout $2500 to meet my max out of ppocket for the year. This week in the hospital is going to take almost all of my PTO for the rest of the year. So our plans for Christmas now have to change. Anyway I just need to vent a bit. Sorry for any typos. My phone is a bit wonky. I hope like hell that the money is all you have to worry about. Healthy thoughts your way for both you and your DH and I'm sorry you have more to deal with. I will now stop complaining about my alarm system needing replaced and my new computer's hard drive, etc.

So sorry you're going through all this.
Here's how you get assigned your own room with no roommate: Act crazy and weird, but not so much they think you're having a reaction to the meds.
Weird can be a delicate balance. Do it in a way that encourages them to wonder about what you may do to your sleeping roomie. Perhaps you can repeatedly chuckle, rub your hands together and obsessively mumble about something odd such as, "I know she's not gonna eat her pudding. Do you think she's going to eat her pudding? I don't think she'll eat it. She probably won't notice if I do. Think she'll eat her pudding? 'Cause I'm thinking she might not. There might be extra pudding left over. How long do you think she'll sleep? Long enough to miss her pudding." Etc, etc.
Good luck.

Yay on the test results! That's about the best news possible (temporary, even if expensive).
By any chance has your DH been tested for fibromyalgia? It used to be that people who had it were told the pain was all in their heads and nothing that could be done except give them anti-depressants. (I had a friend who married a woman with fibromyalgia right around the time that they were first giving it a name, but most doctors still told her her pain was all in her head.) Anyway, just a thought.

Thanks guys. I needed the laugh. The bad thing from the work side of things was this week was crunch time. We were behind and really needed a great week to keep clients happy. Instead I've been out of commission. I'm pretty sure this is worse than maternity leave for my boss. Since there was no warning. I do have my laptop, but have had no energyto break Iit out. Well, shit happens (pun intended)
