I think I would have to a guy who didn't love JRR Tolkien and all the LOTR movies... and one who HADN'T read the book. One boyfriend of mine was trying to read the Hobbit in Spanish to learn Spanish! LOL. That should have been my first clue that he wasn't exactly practical.

There is a meme that I saw once about how to watch Twilight with your girlfriend. Something along the lines of. 1. pop movie in DVD player 2. Press Play 3. Open the largest bottle of tequila you can find and start drinking straight from the bottle. 4. pray you pass out before the opening credits are over. Substitute "turn on TNT and say "meh" and a 6 pack for the tequila, and that is exactly how I watched it!

At least fake cheesecake subs nuts instead of soy ... Im waiting for under the dome till its all out and I can marathon it.. World War Z the book and World War Z the movie were two totally different things. Call one by name, call the other whatever term you prefer to fake cheesecake, and dig in to both Thank all that is holy, no soy!! I've been enjoying it so far, even if it is a bit different from the book. I'll have to do the movie first or I will hold the book against it.

I haven't seen the movies, nor have I read the books... and I never plan to. It's just not my thing. Can I ask why? They simply don't interest me. Why read something or watch something that I don't find interesting?

And it's weird because I LOVE fantasy.

DH tried to watch Twilight. 10 minutes in he wanted to kill himself. I warned him. His sister is a HUGE fanatic. I read the first book before it really took off, I should have demanded my money back. He's brave. I couldn't watch the commercials without getting all suicidal/homicidal.

An hour in, I was dying of boredom. I left the theatre and roamed the mall until it was over 2390820394823 hours later.

I make it a point to try and read the books after I see the movie. Unless it's Jane Austen, the movie is always a disappointment.

I have a Tolkien book somewhere, that my BIL gave me. I think it's The Hobbit. I looked at it briefly, and when I discovered a glossary, I put it back down. I am not reading something that will be constantly taking me out of the story to figure out WTH they're saying/talking about. Another series I never had any interest in. Guess I'm not a fantasy fan huh? lol

I've tried to read The Hobbit at least three times. Last time I made it to page 90 before I gave up. I respect Tolkien as an author but I'm not into his books at all. I have zero desire to see the movies.

Movies and books are seriously deal breakers for you guys DH and I have wildly different tastes in tv, movies and music, but we still have a common ground (of things we love AND hate) and it really has little impact on our relationship.

My entire exposure to the Hobbit series was the cartoons they would show on TV back in the 80's. I never read the books but I saw all 3 of the LOTR movies and I enjoyed them all.

I tried before to read The Hobbit and failed. I picked it up again when the movie was coming out. I made it through enough to see the movie. It is hard for me to get used to the language.
I've seen bits and pieces of the LOTR trilogy but never a complete movie. The books are sitting on my Kindle for when I finally finish The Hobbit. At this point I'm just going to start over.
Yum Orlando Bloom!
