and I LOVED the bad ass woman who just told them what it was all about. Appealing to a minority of primary voters and using poor women as their stepping stones for a political career. I also loved the woman who ended her testimony with "Bless your hearts".

I remember Representative Sylvester Turner from his Houston City Council days & I love how he keeps pointing out that they want to pass a bill that they KNOW is unconstitutional.

The chair just acknowledged that over 1,000 people are still outside waiting to speak. He is ending it & wants to call for a vote. Sylvester Turner is speaking now about pushing things thru & not listening to the voters & is using Obamacare as his example. LOL How it was pushed thru & not listening to the voters & how inconsistant they are being.

They started out getting 3 minutes each, but around 2 hours ago they cut it down to 2 minutes per person. Yes I heard about Ohio & NC & GA are about to try the same stunt. North Dakota passed a law banning abortions as soon as a heartbeat can be detected. Lawsuits have already been filed to block that. It is ridiculous what so many states are attempting.

I had no idea that there are still places that "debate" abortions. Wasn't that decided by Supreme Court a few decades ago?

I want to live where it is warm, but I really hate the thought of living in a state that thinks that it is ok to take away my right of choice. I do find it "funny" that NC passed it through hidden in an Anti-Sharia law. What they are doing to women is just as bad as many hard core Muslim laws against women.

I've been saying for a long time, that the Religious right isn't that much different than the Muslims they fear so much. We do NOT live in a theocracy & I'm really tired of elected representatives forgetting that little fact.
I have never been a straight ticket voter. I have even voted for a Republican gov'n here in Georgia. I have always said that being a Dem living in a Red state, that my vote never counts. But I still vote, in every election. Local, state, & Federal. I'm sick & tired of feeling like one of the few sane ones in a sea of Red hypocrites.

Lovely Bunch. While pro-life Christians sang Amazing Grace, pro-death leftists chanted "hail satan" at the State Capitol Building in Texas.

Lovely Bunch. While pro-life Christians sang Amazing Grace, pro-death leftists chanted "hail satan" at the State Capitol Building in Texas. Had you been watching the live feed as this happened, you would know that it was done with a sarcastic reaction to the praying & preaching that was happening in the rotunda. The pro-life groups were bused in & informed about signing up to testify FOUR hours before those against the bill. They also signed up children as young as 6 months old to "testify" The Republicans again tried to weigh the deck in their favor & it WILL blow up in their faces come election time. To repeat again, only 1 in FIVE voters of Texas support this bill. They will not get away with this. I watched from 5 pm until 3:30 am. Context is EVERYTHING with this video.

Texas voters are not going to forget that the Republicans tried to openly & in your face break the law last week. No one is going to forget the printed records that show they changed the time stamp to try & shove the bill thru ILLEGALLY. No one is going to forget that the woman who wrote this bill stated that "rape kits clean that stuff out & cause abortions". NO ONE is going to forget that they are NOT helping women, but are condemning poor women to NO health care & creating incredible hardships for poor women across the state.
1 in 5 voters supported this bill....that's 4 Texas voters that didn't & will vote these power hungry idiots out of office.

RvW is still the law. As Sylvester Turner pointed out repeatedly last night. Texas is openly passing a bill that is unconstitutional & will close 37 out of 42 clinics that provide women's health care & essentially are making abortion illegal in the state. They DON"T CARE about RvW.

But it will already be too late for hundreds, possibly thousands of Texas women. These clinics will close & health care for poor women will vanish long before this is overturned in the courts.
The women who need affordable health care the MOST are the ones who are going to be hurt the MOST. And Republicans in Texas have clearly stated they don't care.

I want to see headlines that scream about how they are pushing this thru illegally. About how they broke the law last week & did it in everyone's face. I want someone to turn on the lights and stomp the fuck out of the Republicans that are in favor of this bill like the roaches that they are.
But I can't even get news coverage anywhere about any of it. I have to find live feeds & UStreams online to watch democracy in action.
It's time to tell the Republicans that we are NOT a theocracy and they will NOT turn us into one.
and yes, I'm totally pissed off & unreasonable about this issue now.

Aww, steff. I understand how you feel, but ... well, you know where you are. It's not any better in that cockeyed state above you that starts with an "O". That's why I'm FROM there. I'm from OK and now live in TX. It's a double whammy

There have been a lot of news articles about the protest and whats going on in the other states linked on www.reddit.com/r/politics/ but they are mostly from fringe publications.

Fun little fact for Republicans in Texas to remember also.... The last time Texas tried to ban abortions & woke up the voters was 1990....Ann Richards was elected in 1991. Tick tick your dick is now on the clock.....

There is no proposal in Texas to ban abortions. Late term abortions are opposed by pro-choice women 52% to 48%. They're opposed (in Texas) by likely voters by a 69% majority. Ann "Ma" Richards couldn't even beat Bush, so yeah- that made a difference.
"Do Not Doubt Me. Ever. " Paul says: I seriously doubt Texas will have an election that comes down to abortion as the issue one way or the other.

Paul,
Until you do your research on this issue & understand that is is NOT about late term abortions, then I have no reason to discuss this issue with you.
