So may we assume that is a categorical, "NO!" on the idea of not continuing to sound like an idiot? Hey, a person can use whatever language they choose. It doesn't mean that others won't find it extremely offensive, might cause some lost respect, and might make them sound small-minded or uninformed. But, if shoob wants to continue using the langauge, then I support her choice to insult others rather to have a genuine conversation on the issues. I suppose if ones beliefs are so wrapped up tight that you literally can't see the other side of the issues, then it is an honest protrayal of feelings to just be insulting to the other side. Well, I'd say you went three-for-four. I'm not at all offended.

I swear watching old men get up and talk about how they know better than a woman what is right for a woman is making my head throb. Makes me all stabby. Apparently women need to get together & start regulating old men's dicks since they clearly miss using it & are taking their frustration out on young women. And yes, that is a pissy, snarky, I hate people right now statement. But I'm on hour 5 of watching testimony & I'm ready to punch an old man in the face.
current number is approx 2,500 people STILL signed up to testify. overflow rooms are still full & the line for signing up still wraps around the rotunda.

OMG you can't fix stupid. One person testifying just blamed the economic crisis & crash on abortion.
I seriously need to punch someone right now. The bullshit is so deep that even hip waders won't help.

It's Texas. You should be used to it. They used to at least be sneaky about it. Now they are just in your face, don't give a shit, gonna pass it because it's my religious beliefs old f#$#ers. Now the chair is being called out on only calling pro-life names to testify & not calling any of the hundreds & hundreds of orange shirted pro-choice names. When you signed up for the bill, you had to say "for/against/indifferent" to the bill. I seriously want to punch the next old man who gets up and talks about his (non existant, but somehow relivant) pregnancy experiences. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aww, steff. I understand how you feel, but ... well, you know where you are. It's not any better in that cockeyed state above you that starts with an "O". That's why I'm FROM there.

Hubby has (jokingly) laughed at me because we aren't even in Texas. He asked me at one point if he needed to build me a soap box & start making campaign posters. LOL I'm seriously fired up about this one....

*chuckle* Your heart is still there, hon. That's why it makes you so darned angry. I get a smidgen of it myself when I hear some of Oklahoma's best idiots blathering on, and I haven't been back in Oklahoma for nearly 40 years! You'd have to drag me there with chains and a team of horses.

I will admit, that watching testimony since 5 pm probably hasn't helped calm me down any...just made me more fired up & angry. But at the same time, I'm still so proud to see all the opposition & orange shirts. Even as an A&M fan...lol
They plan to cut off testimony at midnight CST, even with lines and lines of orange shirts signed up to testify.

Are they even letting those folks testify? It doesn't sound like it.

and the SCOTUS can overturn them. And for those of us who actually stayed awake in US history in high school (lol), that's why they call it "checks and balances." co-wrecked

mmhmm- what are the statistics on fertility for women? iow, what % of the time is there a failure for sperm to fertilize the egg or a failure to implant? Found an interesting article discussing the survival rate at each point during a potential pregnancy. discovermagazine.com/2004/may/coverThey say an egg has a 33% chance of being fertilized if you have sex at the right time. Then that egg has a 50% chance (give or take, I have heard anywhere from 25-75%) of actual implantation. Then that implanted egg has a 75% chance of surviving the first few weeks. So only something like 38% of fertilized eggs make it to a point where they are likely to be viable. Think of all the billions of lost souls if we want to believe that life begins at conception as Virgil will tell you, the odds don't quite work that way. i think it is more like 0.33x0.50x0.75 = 12%

That would probably bring us down to 5-8%, which is what I remember reading.

They started out getting 3 minutes each, but around 2 hours ago they cut it down to 2 minutes per person.
Yes I heard about Ohio & NC & GA are about to try the same stunt.

They are going to cut off testimony at midnight CST. There is talk on twitter of the Dems working behind the scenes to extend the hearing to get more testimonies in & to extend the hearings to their local districts to allow those that couldn't attend to speak too.
Won't know until after midnight CST what will happen after they cut off testimonies.

I just saw a tweet from an organizer who said there are 991 left to testify 13 minutes to go. And saying when it hits midnight to be loud & let them hear you so they HAVE to hear you testify.
