Oh please. I know the exactly slant of some one by the term used. I can define others as PRO abortion just like they csn define me as ANTI abortion rather than PRO life. I'll define you as anti-choice. That's more equitable.

and they woke up the female voting base. I was also very pleased to see so many young men involved & at the hearings. They may pass the bill this week, but it won't stand the test of time & it will hurt these morons come election time. i don't think that it will last the year. it is going to get struck down, just like all of the other trap laws. Agreed, dj.

The article I read (and I believe I posted here) stated that only 1 in 5 voters in Texas supports this bill. THAT is what is going to cost these Republicans come election time. When Kay Baily Hutchinson is the rational Republican you know you've screwed the pooch.
And on a personal annoying note. I remember Dan Patrick when he was a sucky local tv sports reporter. He sucked then & he sucks even more now.

I would say 55 MILLIION abortions is pretty "pro". That would be 55 million abortions since 1973 - 40 years. That would include abortions to save the mother's life, and abortions prior to viability. It would also include partial-birth abortions that have since been outlawed at the federal level.

I would say 55 MILLIION abortions is pretty "pro". you can say whatever you like. however, i know women who have had them, and none of them did it because of any love or even LIKE of abortions. they did so because the alternative was a life of poverty for themselves and their children- or having to give up their children to someone more capable of raising them. not a single one viewed abortion as "birth control"- more like "disaster control" in all cases. but i know....children are not disasters....blah blah blah. every sperm is sacred.

And we know not only the slant, but the intellectual limits of those who use the other term. I'll define you as anti-choice. That's more equitable. Unfortunately, that is technically not accurate either. They seemingly have no problem with one's choice to become pregnant, or to NOT become pregnant. It is only the outcome that they wish to dictate.

Yep. Abortions for incest and rape would be included in those statistics.

On a positive note, I'm talking with 2 friends in Texas on FB tonight. 1 is in Austin (my BFF I mentioned before) & 1 is near Nacogdoches. The friend in Nac was unable to travel to Austin because she's still recovering from cervical cancer that was diagnosed in a rural PP clinic (she's even more rabid over this than anyone else I know). Between the two of them, they had over 100 women & men in Austin protesting today.
during the conversation, we were talking about the next generation of voters. My son & 3 of his friends that are on my FB, the sons of both women & several of their friends joined in the conversation. If nothing else, we are making the next generation of young men understand just how important this issue is for women. Young women already know, it's the young men that we need to educate about it. To make sure they read, listen, research, and VOTE on issues that they might think don't affect them.

My son is a Republican and a conservative, yet he is pro-choice, as are his sons. They don't figure it's up to them to decide what women they don't even know are supposed to do with their lives.

That first night, as I sat enraged watching it all online, I kept wondering "where's the modern day Ann Richards?". I think we found her. It also reassured me to see Cecile Richards, her daughter, speaking outside the chambers to the crowd.
