If I still lived in Texas, I would absolutely go to Austin next week for this bullshit "special screw every woman over" session Rick the Dick Perry has called for. I'm so angry right now. Did these idiots NOT hear the people last night? Did they really just call voters expressing their views on their rights "terrorists"? What I want to spew right now is so laced with 4 letter words that I'd get a vacation from here. The Texas GOP will NOT get away with this. They will not make women 2nd class citizens without the right to control their own reproduction. Stop raping our rights! No means NO! You aren't my doctor, get the hell out of my uterus! When you grow a uterus, then you can suggest what I should do with mine. I won't tell you what to do with your dick, stop telling me what to do with MY uterus. It scares the crap out of me that my husband wants to retire in this state. He is looking at job opportunities and not looking at the political landscape. (He is Pro-Choice by the way). I am not looking forward to it at all and hope that we can decide on a different state to retire in. Don't look to the gulf states. In your area of concern, the states go from bad to worse depending upon the issue(s).

Just spoke with my BFF in Houston. She and her 5 sisters & her 4 nieces and her mom are planning on going to Austin on July 1st to protest the next special session.
And that is just one reason why I love her so damn much!

I am actually confused as to what Perry meant by saying she had been born into adversity.
Read about her on Wiki & it doesn't have much about her childhood except her parents divorced at 11 & her mom raised her without CS from that point forward. Becoming a single mom when your daughter is 11 years old is slightly different than knowing at 11 weeks pregnant that you will be a single mom & don't have the financal situation, physical strength, emotional strength or whatnot to deal with a kid.
Regardless, you are a jerk to imply someone didn't learn the appropriate lessons from their own life experiences.

... with mere seconds remaining until the deadline [cut to commercial]
Political Theater is getting too much like "Reality TV"... using "last minute" hype of contrived deadlines to generate drama and suspense, etc.
We elect representatives to deal with political conflict, and all they want to do is put on a show.

Then why exactly can you determine what happens to the uterus of your unborn baby girl? There's YOUR body, and there's SOMEONE ELSE'S body. And your unborn child's body is NOT YOUR BODY.

But it's not an unborn baby girl. It is a fetus. And can't even survive on it's own. It is basically a parasite in my body at that point. Should the govt be able to require me to host a parasitic being even if it isn't in my best interest?

Charge rent and have the government pay for it. Section U housing. The scary part is those crazys over there that would have you die before allowing an abortion. Next thing you know- other than the homicide investigations for miscarriages- you will be required to maintain certain diets, activities, etc. while pregnant. The new GOP- caring for the unborn and those at the age of military service. Once you are born eff U- they could care less about hungry kids or education- once the control over the woman's body ends they are not interested. Perry is so 'right to life' he just helped hit 500 executions. Douchebag. Not going to forget about his role in the murder of Cameron Willingham either.

Another point to be made- I don't know anyone that is pro-choice that thinks abortion is a good idea or alternative form of birth control. Look at Ireland where that lady died because they would not abort to save her life- they rolled the dice and she's dead. That is the horrible consequence of 'life at conception' laws. In their zeal to stop abortion at any cost and skirt the law they come up with legislation so horrific even Mississippi told them to stick it. And while complaining- these short sighted idiots are fighting birth control, Plan B, and anything else related to allowing pregnancy free sex that would reduce the demand for abortions in the first damn place! Logically, if your goal is to eliminate abortions then sex education and birth control would be supported by.....oh nevermind.

My brother, who is in the process of moving back to Texas, happened to be in Austin today for work & took his lunch hour to go to the protest outside the Capitol. He met up with my BFF and the TWENTY SEVEN people that went with her to the Capitol to protest. Estimates are that anywhere from 5,000 to 7,500 people showed up for the Stand with Texas women rally. My BFF sent me a pic of 2 trees outside the Capitol building that had been covered in hundreds of coat hangers while the rally was in full swing.
My brother won't be able to stay in Austin for tomorrow's session, but my BFF and her entire group will be there until Wednesday.

I'm so fired up over this, you would think I still lived in Texas. My BFF & her group are standing up for all the women of Texas & other states. She even said, part of her decision to go was for me since she knew that I would be fired up about it & would be there if I lived there. She even joked that when they sang "The Eyes of Texas" today, that she did the thumbs up for A&M and horns down for UT for me. LOL
My brother going was just a bonus & I KNOW he did it for me, his wife, his sis in laws, and all the women in his life.

Coat hangers = back alley abortions that women used to have to endure. It's a symbol of what Rick Perry, Dan Patrick & Dewherst want to send women's health care back to.
I read an article today that only 1 in 5 Texas voters supports this bill.

Time to do your research. This bill closes 37 of the 42 Women's clinics in Texas. A rape victim from El Paso would have to drive to San Antonio for treatment. A woman living on the border would have NO women's clinics/health care unless they drive 8 hours to Houston.
It has SO much more to do with women's health than abortions. Only 1 in 5 voters in Texas supports this bill. 1 in 5.

So you'll be the 1 who thinks poor women don't deserve health care, cancer screening, birth control or pre natal care.
Good to know. All of those that I know that are there right now will be the voices of every poor woman in Texas who is being shit on by a political party. And that 1 in 5 sure won't help these religious right wingers when election time rolls around now will it?
They have woken up and pissed off Texas women. The eyes of Texas (and the US) are on them and they will NOT get away with it.
