she is looking at serious jail time now
too bad.....she could have made this all go away
bad advice from her parents and lawyers.....and oblivious to what society, and her state say is right & wrong
three years behind bars might change that attitude.....

Life is easier on me with the ignore button I find. You still have that option. It's just not an "Ignore" button like in the past.
If you want to "ignore" someone, click on their display name. When their profile page comes up, click the "gear" icon in the top-right corner of the page ---->
Then click "Block Member". Their posts will no longer be visible to you.

I thought as much - just thought I might give it another try - since she claimed it made her life easier.

It is real simple to me- these laws were not designed to ruin the lives of HS kids that have sex. It didn't have to be a case of ruining anyone's life. She could have taken the plea deal. The law is what it is. This young innocent 18 year old is back in jail for disobeying a court order. This was a case of somebody thinking that they could play the "alternative life style" card and get away with breaking the law. She is finding out that she can't. As far as the 14 year old and your comparison with the two murderers in Ok, as far as I know, she has not been accused of any crime. There is no comparison between the people or the acts committed by them in these two circumstances. Four years may not seem like much, but in high school it is a huge difference. I didn't call it molestation, but I do believe that the older girl had an overwhelming influence on the younger one and was able to manipulate the situation. I must be missing something...we are talking about someone who sent multiple images of herself masturbating over the internet as well as engaged in a sexual act with a minor in a bathroom, right? Yea, she's just an innocent kid... BOY, I can't wait for my daughter to date an innocent like this (NOT!)

I added the last pita to the list. I'm sure I'm on plenty as well. It just does something to my blood pressure to read it. I should be able to just skip over it but I can't so its best this way.

I think the prosecutors who offered this deal, under political pressure from the LGBT activists should be looked at for misconduct. This person has never shown she understands the law, that she is remorseful, or that she in any way is the kind of person eligible for a deal. From the start, she has done everything possible to identify herself as someone that requires the maximum- and now, she's going to get it.

She was most assuredly offered the standard deal they offer to anyone in similar circumstances. Do you even know how the system works? And the answer is- no. Because you have no idea what the maximum sentences are for do you- there is almost nothing she could do to get it.

evt
you have made your positions quite clear
you dont believe she is a deviant
you think the law is stupid
you think this is a clear case of two high school kids having a tryst
i apologize in advance if any of that is untrue.....
a lot of us disagree with your position
she wont get max, but she is looking at serious jail time......
my guess is 3-5 years......
and that is sad.....because someone wanted this case to forward the lesbian rights in the state
her parents are idiots.....and her attorney has made huge mistake after huge mistake
but she will be the one doing the time

bills.....i believe she is responsible
but i wonder if the "advice" she was given made it even worse
the original deal she was offered was a gift....
but her parents and lawyer nixed the whole thing
and then she made the whole thing worse by completely ignoring the judges order
she is liable...and responsible....

I looked at the guidelines a while back and posted it- think you are correct around 5 years max (I do not see that happening)- but the judge could deviate- could even suspend it for probation- but will probably teach her a lesson for ignoring the court.
The second deal would have been fair but both lawyer and client screwed the pooch on this.
And correct- that is my position. Obviously people disagree because they have decided in other states that this should not be illegal. I have no problem with that- but I remember HS and there were plenty of seniors breaking all kinds of FL law- it is sad that the only ones ever punished are the ones that piss off parents. Maybe FL should go 21 jump street and start arresting all of the other kids too that have parents that are ok with the relationships or do not know. Bet the law changes in a hurry.

Former Mont. teacher gets 30 days for student rape
District Judge G. Todd Baugh sentenced Stacey Dean Rambold to 15 years in prison for sexual intercourse without consent, with all but 31 days suspended.
BILLINGS, Mont. — A former Billings Senior High School teacher who pleaded guilty to raping a 14-year-old student who later killed herself has been sentenced to 30 days in jail by a judge who said the victim was "older than her chronological age" and "as much in control of the situation" as the teacher.
District Judge G. Todd Baugh sentenced Stacey Dean Rambold to 15 years in prison for sexual intercourse without consent, with all but 31 days suspended. He gave Ramboldcredit for one day already served, The Billings Gazette reported. The girl's mother repeatedly screamed, "You people suck!" and stormed out of the courtroom Monday.
Rambold, now 54, was charged in October 2008 with three counts of sexual intercourse without consent alleging that he had an ongoing sexual relationship with Cherice Morales, starting the previous year when she was 14.
Morales took her own life in February 2010 while the case was pending.

I will say the the editor of your link needs to have someone check article titles. It stated the girl "Commuted Suicide." Strange criminal sentencing around the country.

There are some choices, zib. Try putting Rambold and Cherice Morales into Google.

My apologies, evt. I consider your position in this thread indefensible, but you've been arguing in good faith and shouldn't have to put up with my sarcasm. I am interested in what EVT1, pappyjohn99, and other outspoken contributors to the thread think about Mr. Rambold's case. I expect pappyjohn's position to remain consistent: sex with minors is unacceptable; throw the book at Rambold even if he was seduced and/or the victim seemed emotionally mature. He knew the law. He broke the law. There were dire consequences for the victim in this particular case. I have no idea what evt's position will be.

Thanks, Virgil. We all get a little carried away now and again. I guess I made my position pretty clear. As far as I'm concerned the waste of DNA known as Rambold belongs under the jail. There's no excuse for what he did and there's no excuse for any judge letting him off with a sentence of 30 days. The victim, in this case, was 14 years old. There is no way anybody, anywhere is going to convince me a 14 year old girl can seduce an adult male who isn't more than willing to be seduced. I'll be willing to bet the farm the seduction wasn't done by that child!

I have no doubt that a 14-year-old child can (and in certain cases, does) seduce a 30-year-old man. But the issues are the same as for Ms. Hunt's case. A child of age 14 cannot legally consent to sex, and a man or woman of the age of majority may not solicit or be solicited into a sexual relationship with such a child.
Cases like Mr. Rambold's are exactly what the laws hope to prevent, and the fact that the judge let him off with a slap on the wrist is a bare-faced injustice. Shame on the judge.

I vehemently disagree. A 14-year-old child CANNOT seduce anybody who isn't very willing to be seduced. Any 30-year-old man KNOWS sex with a 14-year-old child is illegal, immoral, and downright disgusting. The responsibility lies fully and completely with the adult. As I say, the seduction wasn't on the part of this kid. That's pure bull-hockey! ETA: Warning! Hot Button glowing. Meltdown imminent!
