My dad fell again last night. This time he fell back onto the bed. He joked with my mom he had one too many drinks. He's getting fevers and the sweats again. He's getting weaker and paler. Complains that he has pain on the left side of his chest. We figure it's the cancer in his heart causing the pain. Not sure how much longer he can hang in there? Hospice double his pain pills.
We sold some of his tools this weekend. It hurts to think he will never be using them again.

If he's at peace with it, jeep, that's the very best we can ask for. Love him, and let him love you. Our time here is fleeting, when you think about it, so it's important to make the very best we can of what we have. Hugs, hon. I know it's hard.

Well that antibiotic treatment that I took for 3 months was a bust. So I also seen my lung surgeon he wants to wait till mid March 2014 and then I'll do another cat-scan, lung biopsy and either surgery or Gamma Knife Radiation after that.
But right now I have to deal with my Thyroid issues, it's gone wonky.

(((((((((((( sugi )))))))))))))))) I'm so sorry the antibiotic didn't work for you. Lousy to have hopes then have to find another hope. How can you help with the thyroid? Any special diet? Any anti-anxiety stuff you can do? Take care of YOU.

I demanded thyroid tests in September and they done them in October. They said they will change my thyroid med, when that will happen I don't know.

Hospice has given dad two days, but says he's so stubborn it may take up to 2 weeks for him to pass. I told him last night to go be with my grandpa. That he has no quality of life anymore. Don't stick around for myself or mom. He has suffered enough it is time for him to be at peace.
Life is going to be different from here on out. I think I'm doing OK then someone says something and I will tear up. Trying to be strong for my mom now.

Dad died peacefully on Friday. We went to the mortuary today and signed papers to have him cremated and pick out his urn.
Cancer can't hurt him anymore.
I'm OK, just crying on and off. Looked through pictures and talked to relatives over the weekend.
We will probably have a party for dad after the holidays.

I have never been on the Lifestyles thread and didn't know Patio.
So sorry for her family and the pain they are feeling.
I have appointments in the month of Feb for another blood test to see if this nasty bug is back. Also a hospital visit to check the muscle tone in my colon so maybe things can be put back together. At my age I'm not too hopeful but it doesn't hurt to check.
I definitely don't want to trade this DOP for an adult diaper. I'll learn to at least like this thing if necessary. Sure glad I have this venue so I can complain ........... Thank you.

I learned something tonight about my sister with the stage 4 kidney cancer. More cancer was found in her left tibia. She has bone cancer that's made her tibia that frail she's not allowed to stand. She goes to see the doctors again on Tuesday. They already told her that the cancer is that advanced that surgery is scheduled for next week sometime.

I'm going back to the hospital today for a modified colon scope to see if the muscles are still good enough to work correctly. At my age I'm thinking not so I'll have this ostomy for the rest of my life.
Last week I had blood work and other labs done and all came back good. Next week I'll have this port removed. It's really been bothering me lately.
Just needed to get this written down and out of my brain.
ETA: just got a phone call from Dr office. The tech assistant for the procedure is out sick so things are postponed for a bit. The silver lining is now I can have breakfast. The muddy lining is I have to wait longer.
I'm never satisfied. LOL

Well I'm having that cat-scan and seeing the lung surgeon this morning. Basically it's appointment by appointment before I find out anything.

No freaking absolutely any change to this 11mm mass on my left lung. I'll do another cat-scan in December.
Damn I'm a happy camper right now.

((((((((((((((((( sugi )))))))))))))))))))))) I'm so very sorry ...... mega hugs to both of you.
Do you live close to her? Can you spend time with her? Take a tape recorder with you to share memories and build other memories.
This is so tough. All you can do is hold her hand, talk to her and share love.
I'm so sorry.
