A mixture of grief, relief, sadness, disbelief, anger, and so many other things. I'm so sorry for your loss, Sugilite.

My condolences to you, her husband and children. She's now earned her wings and soaring peacefully, and pain-free - watching over those left behind.
Her suffering has ended - and a new journey for her begins. Safe travels, Peggy.

I had a biopsy last week. MD said she got it all. But now they're calling me, & I can only talk to the doctor supposedly. So if she got it all why can I only discuss this with the dermatologist! It's not like my first time to the rodeo. First of all I had it on my nose, then on my head, then my breasts, then my colon, now my hand. It's always the same kind of cyst. It always test out to be the same kind of cancer. And they always get it all. So why can I only talk to the dermatologist?

Demoralized. I have to have more surgery first. It's been a bad day.
First my boss was hyper critical that I cannot sign off on a return where I don't have a 2014 K1 with 2013 income, but no 2014 stmt.
Then I heard back from Kaiser and I need more surgery b4 chemo
Finally, hyper critical boss (who has a massive fear of partners seeing her files) left a file in the copy room. I went to tell her where I put it and she blew up at me (apparently she's overloaded).
So I went home early. Need to process. And decide if I'm taking time off. Not mentioning it anywhere but here. I should come thru it all with just a minor slow down at work / will slow down on volunteering for now

I am so irritated right now!! Kaiser sent the referral to surgery. When I dn hear, I texted my primary who gave me a number. I called them. Well they said bc it involves hand tendons it has to go to Orthopedic so they transferred me but orthopedic says it has to be done by my primary. BTW he's not a SURGEON and as far as I know, surgery is done by a general surgeon or a specialist!! He's a primary!! I'm pissed!!
So I filed an access complaint requesting resolution prior to the mandated 30 days or a referral to John Muir on their dime
EDITED 9/8: they came thru with an offer of surgery afternoon of 9/22. I'm lead usher that evening (Kol Nidre) but took it! Synagogue will just have to understand

I always go to work, never call in sick. But I'm thinking of doing so on 9/21 the day before my next surgery. Boss says she pays sick leave. She dn know what I have. Should I?

I think it's a good idea. It's always helpful to be fully rested, well hydrated, and as calm as is possible when going to surgery.

I agree with mmhmm. It's always a good idea to be as well rested as possible before surgery. Keep writing in here to let the tensions out.

Ombud,
I guess I would take the day off. If I remember correctly you are financially well set, but you provide a lot of economic outpatient assistance to your Daughter and Grandchildren.
Are you going to have DD or DS take you to your appointment? I know I struggled with this question before I got word that I am clear for the year. No sign of cancer at this time. My biopsy was very painful and they said if I had to come back they would give me valium if I had a driver. So if there is a next time, I will take a family member with for emotional support and to act as driver.
I think the Synagogue can get someone to fill in, there is plenty of time for that.

bean29, congrats on being clear! What a relief! DD is quite disinterested? Guess that's a good way to put it. I told her but she did not volunteer to help with driving or around here. I think that's how she processes it. DS just keeps saying 'you're not planning on dying are you?' So he would add to the tension. Maybe DIL? I have a friend plus 2 sisters who want to .... so no, I'm not driving. They won't do anything if they think I don't have a driver. They actually meet with them on check-in so you cannot fake it

Ombud, I certainly did not mean to imply that your children were disinterested. The 'you're not planning on dying are you?' concern was the thing that personally kept me from talking about my biopsy to my family. (I might say that to my Mom too though, and it would not mean at all that I would not be willing to be there for the surgery). I did not want to worry them, especially my Mother, and my kids were set to go back to college that same week.
I would just arrange for the friend or sisters to drive. My MIL apparently does not like lots of people at the hospital. A year or so ago my FIL had surgery and DH and I got to the hospital to wait while FIL was in surgery and FIL's Brother, Sister and her DH showed up. I was somewhat amused b/c I was asking myself how they even knew he was having surgery when I realized my FIL told his Brother and Sister. I think having the extra people around makes MIL nervous, but my FIL does not necessarily share her feelings. His sister was a basket case, so I understand that my MIL feels she does not want to have to prop her up emotionally when she has her own emotions to deal with.
Your DIL is possibly a good option, I would take my MIL in a heartbeat. I have taken her for a Mammogram and other Dr. Appts, but not surgery without my DH or FIL also being present.
Edit to add: maybe you did not understand my reference to economic outpatient assistance? It is from the Millionaire next Door. The author calls financial help Parents Give their adult children Economic Outpatient Assistance. I know DD and the grandchildren were living with you, but she now is in the process of purchasing her own place. Hopefully she will be less dependent on you for help in the future. (Did not mean to be critical, hope to provide as much help to my kids in the future as possible, but know we walk the line and must not interfere with them becoming financially independent).

It's 'that' day. DS went to work when I thought DD was getting me there, DD says she'll get me after surgery if they won't let me drive home, I'm getting me there. I'm a little scared that they won't get it all. And discovered what might be 2 more sites. It has a wierd appearance and is super sensitive. Anyhow I'll know later. Am I just obsessing? Maybe.
